Today is the Day where having the Nordic track Treadmill in the air conditioning will help.
Going to be 102 today...A walk is out of the question..Last night at 11 pm, it was 80 plus... So off to the treadmill today to keep up the routine.. Going to the store today...Buying healthy... Last night Fish and green beans... |

If for some reason you are time limited, you can do Legs, Chest, and then Triceps, and the next day do Back,Shoulders, Biceps...
Also as I mentioned, I used to do Cybergenics.. A lot of pre stretching and stretching after each set...30 seconds each body part. It will increase your recovery time and prevent injury and stiff muscles... I was 30 when I did it, and at 52, I must stretch to avoid problems.. Also a lot of super sets and starting heavy with low reps, and decreasing weight and increasing reps.. And the news ? Just turn it off...It will never change..Liars , whores, and thieves...Even a non election year..But now ? Negativity should have the news in the dictionary as a definition. |
Well i'll participate in the "what i ate" part... as i mentioned yesterday I would be trying to attempt fish with some sauteed squash/zucchini. Here is what I ended up with:

According to MyFitnessPal, about 350 calories, and I was full. lol I ate a lot yesterday (it felt like), but it was all healthy (yogurt, weight management oatmeal (higher in protien, fiber, etc), and grapes, then dinner). and I only ate like 1100 calories. MyFitnessPal scolded me for not eating atleast 1200, as I may be starving myself. heh. edit... oh, and on the "negative news" part.. i cut cable when i moved in Feb. no TV except for netflix/hulu. And we mostly watch the kids shows/cartoons anyway, if we watch anything. But i quit watching the news years ago. I took a class in college about how negative it was, as human nature is drawn to that and all they want is "ratings"... so, no news for me. and very little TV. Im much happier w/o getting lost in the TV shows.. The GF is starting to miss it tho. lol |

I will be going to the store today to buy some fruit, veggies, skinless chicken and fish.. Too hot for outdoors, so 22 minutes and one mile on the treadmill today.. I have one of those Gazzelle machine's..I will get on that tomorrow.. I am dead serious about getting healthy..It has been 2 years since my Major Heart Infection, and Stroke/Seizures.. I am going to beat this crap and get healthy enough to get my car to some events...I win just by showing up.. Autocross first...No experience, and no roll bar keeps me from the big tracks yet.. I need to take a Jim Russell class at Infineon first.. More accountability soon...And no news channels..:cheers: |

Mike , looks like this thread has you motivated :thumbsup: Signed up for the gym today. It's been many, many years since I have worked out with barbells and weights but I have a great workout program that I will never forget. Price turned out to be $39.95/month with no contract and an additional $19.95 for the access key. Gym is open 24/7. I told him I wouldn't be starting till tomorrow so I could stretch the month out an extra day and he said he wouldn't charge me for the rest of this month and billing will start first of August. Very solid dude and the place seemed real down to earth. We'll see. |

I have had a seriously rough road the last two years..Forced to retire due to my Medical problems..Weak from medication for seizures.. This is the rest of my Life, right now, on borrowed time.. So hell yes, I am serious..I have to work up the heart and stamina before any real weight training. Sit ups and Push ups and dips for now..Then the body sculpting begins.. I did it with Cybergenics 22 years ago, so i know what to do... Big baby steps..And for sure shrugging off the negativity...It hangs with you after you almost die and take over a year to recover..It is a whole new life. I got the skills and the attitude, and I thank you guys and especially Todd for waking up my Rumplestilskin A$$..:thumbsup: |

I've been trying to get healthy again for the last 3 years. Many years ago, a neighbor introduced me to biking. I'm 5'11", weighed 235 and new I need to do something so I gave it a shot. My first goal was to do the Hotter than Hell 100 bike ride. After a couple months I had lost a little weight. Not very motivated, I did it anyway. The Hotter than Hell kicked my butt. I had never pushed myself into soo much pain before. Took me all day to do it. But the kudos and support I got from doing it motivated me though. I vowed I would return the next year and do better. So I spent a year riding and getting used to it. The weight started to fall off. I told myself that when I hit 190 I'd be happy. I was wrong. Next was 180. I kept getting faster and faster. I no longer ate anything that would hamper my ride for the next day. I joined a racing team and rode on avg 8000 miles a year for the next 3 years. I got my weight down to a 155 race weight, was ripped and in the best shape of my life. I was now RACING the Hotter than Hell rather than narrowly surviving it. My time was down to a hair over 4 hrs. Somewhere along the way though I got lost. Got married, Kid, Work, Car hobby... I've spent the last 5 years putting the weight back on. This year Im 38 and I've hit 200 again. My biggest problems are eating and drinking. I dont have to tell you what over indulging will do to scheduled morning workouts for the next day or 2. I love to eat and just about everything is good with a Martini, better with 2 and just orgasmic with 3. The other problem is the car. Beer and working in the hot garage just seems to go together. I'd skip the morning ride to beat the heat in the garage and then spend the entire afternoon drinking beer to cool down and deal with the stress of parts not working out. A couple months ago I started biking to work again and watching my eating and drinking. Im now down 15 lbs. I get to ride ~150 miles a week now and am seeing the weight start to come off. (Yes slowly coming off as I have struggled with my vices) The goal is to get down to 170 and start adding in some weight training. I hate being in the gym. It just feels stuffy and lifting doesnt excite me one bit. I long to draft off unsuspecting SUV's, put the hurt on my riding companions and sprint for the county line signs on Saturday mornings. But lifting to add muscle mass and watching my eating and drinking is likely the answer to keeping the weight off. More muscle mass means more calories are burned thru regular activity rather than relying solely on cardio as I did before. Thanks for getting this thread started. I look forward to the added motivation from reading it daily. |
I started my change 5 years ago . 45 years old 329 pounds:wow: I knew if I kept eating the way I did I wasn't long for this planet. So after 5 years (I'm 50 now:faint: ) this September I have lost 112 pounds and I have to tell you it really wasn't that hard!! So here it is and mind you I'm as lazy as they come for any exercise. I started walking one half hour a day on the tread mill every day for the first 6 months.This was a simple half hour walk after the first 6 months I started a varied walk/jog again only one half hour but I took Sundays off. I'm now to a point where I use the tread mill in the winter months and walk outside during the summer months. I'm up to 5 miles per day with a varied run /walk,still only taking one day off a week. One thing that kept me going through all of this was I would tell myself ''ITS ONLY ONE HALF HOUR A DAY'' if I could sit my fat azz down and watch tv why not do it while on the tread mill. Whats a half hour out of your life. At the same time I started doing the tread mill I started something else,I would not eat anything past 6pm anything!!! I have been married 25 years my wife and I work 100 hours a week each till this day. But for the first 20 years our dinners were hardly ever home always out and always at around 730/8 at night ,come home shower and get ready to do it again the next day. 20 years of that adds up. This one thing alone is huge I have to tell you!! I also cut down on the bad things . Noticed how I said cut down not stop. Well through all this I really never cut out the things I like. I still have pizza ,I'll grab a coke every now and then,pasta, ice cream nothing really changed for me that way. But I do eat alot more fish ,not much red meat anymore, I'm not a big drinker but if I drink beer its lite, and started to drink more wine also. At the end of the day it was a change for me but really wasn't that bad . Remember we are creatures of habit just change your habit and you'll be amazed at the results!
One last thing. I have neighbor that was over weight by about 190 pounds three years ago. He has lost 105 pounds as of today doing the same exact thing :cheers: |
