Not sure if this has already been discussed or not, but have you ridden in a Speed '33?

If so, what are your thoughts compared to some of the other roadster bodies out there?

I have not ridden in a '33 - Speed 33 or otherwise.... My buddy has a '32 with live axle (Ford 9") and a straight axle up front. It's NOTICEABLY rougher riding than my all IRS/IFS '32 which rides like your grandmothers Cadillac in comparison. BUT -- you just can't get the looks I want using the independent stuff. And it's more complicated. I figure there's about 10 gazillion guys 10 years my senior that are going long distances in these old jalopies --- and if they can hack it - then so can I. Just saving the beating I take in the roadster body will be a miracle. That wind in your face at 65mph just gets real old after a short distance.

The key to the ride will be Brizio's expertise knowing the spring rates etc that these cars need. The rear is going to be coil overs...

RE: Body

These folks have this down pat. The body is crazy nice.... and while you can save a TON of dough (28K vs 10K) going with glass - you can't get that folding tonneau top boot. And the original bodies don't have that either. I can't stand the top all piled up on the back like the stock ones do. That, and the fact that it's all steel, are 300% selling points to me. Drop the top on the Speed 33, put the windows down - and you have a clean looking roadster.

Talk to Phil at The RS -- they've built these - and are dealers for this body. My buddy Pierre was going to build one -- and he talked to Phil -- and was very helpful. He should be able to answer any other questions you have with details because I don't know anything about the details.

only 5 pics of your 33, and 14 pages long.
Unless we get some boobies in here, like in Sieg's thread. I'll check back in a few months.

Ok! Before we strike a deal, and I deliver the car the the "shed," I want to make sure we are going forward with a quote on price. So, before it ever arrives, we need to agree on how much it is going to cost. I don't want to pay based on hours, because how do I know you won't charge me for your time while you're on this website. Sound good? How about we just say 60k to finish it. I pay you 90 percent now, and come back and give you the rest when I pick the car up in two months. It should be done in two months right???

Well -- I'd be getting rich at that rate!!! I built an entire '55 Chevy - LS2 - 6 speed - AME chassis - slick firewall and inner fenders - raised the floors - new trans tunnel - complete new wiring - all new rubber.... and I charged Rick 1/2 the cost of the chassis for my '37 Ford (6K).

I figure I put about 35K in parts in Rudy's Camaro - and it's at the upholstery shop now... so that will be 60K in no time at all... He bought breakfast a couple of times.

Now - the fact that those cars are complete crap.... well... you know the old saying about getting what you pay for. I'm ready when you are.

(fingers crossed behind my back) -- 60K ALL IN ALL DONE - 2 MONTHS - NO PROBLEM!! EASY!!

You just need to stop and check out Rudy's Camaro at Dan's Custom Upholstery... that'll be fix enough for you. See if you recognize it as the same car it "was".
