Got everything back from powdercoating. After 17 years the first completed pieces.
I bought one of these Shop Grips from Notchead for polishing bolts. This thing is slick. Bought all of the collets to do 1/4" - 1/2". Will come in very handy polishing all of the hardware for this thing. I also stumbled across a great company www.extsw.com They make all kinds of special washers, spacers etc. Their quality is incredible. I had them make me a bunch of 5/16 and 3/8 washers that are recessed for ARP bolts for various locations throughout the car. Also they make spacers in various sizes which is great for suspension and bracket needs. Hope to have the front done this weekend and start on the rear. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...8b7645dcf7.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...321c7a25a7.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...47b2d5aa7a.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...0d07578079.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...dbd476f030.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...0861b73acb.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...4e159f5a81.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...7090d6d99c.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...062feb1830.jpg Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk |

Making some progress... Aside from the tie rod ends (still waiting on them) got the front suspension buttoned up. Fuel tank mounted, fuel and brake lines mostly done. So nice I already made these, truly just putting the puzzle together now. Painted the master tonight so hopefully button up the brake lines this week. Next stop though rear suspension and brakes!! https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...8f00c1d714.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...1a5e1eff6c.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...c43071fdf7.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...1650eda441.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...d2fb21e2fa.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...086954dfd0.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...23aad58050.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...03e6ed9ad7.jpg

Had a very productive weekend!! Set out and accomplished everything I intended without a single hiccup. Got the rear end and all the suspension wrapped up. Third member, axles, emergency brake and rotors installed. Master cylinder and brake lines are also all wrapped up. Next up rear calipers and then move back to the front and button up the brakes. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...2046e193e1.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...a6dba8dc0e.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...c392b55d2f.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...a82d22700e.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...ba661184ca.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...f910e1157d.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...51f0202d1e.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...a1ac80adad.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...779f0894f5.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...74e05bf42f.jpg

Everything is looking A-1 and top notch Brent.

Very nice,love all the details:thumbsup:

Very nice work. You are at my favorite part of the build. I really enjoy doing final assembly on all the “systems” of a build.
|
Gorgeous..... I see like 4k worth of ARP in there :)

Aside from bleeding, I got the brakes and brake lines all wrapped up. Baer Brakes make such a nice set up. These are their 14" 6 piston Street set up at all 4 corners. This is the first build I have used stainless for the lines and fittings. In the past I've used aluminum fittings which can be a little forgiving to help seal. Knowing how hard stainless can be, I bought this slick tool Surseat by Koul tools. It basically hones the seat area of the flare to help create a smooth seal on the fitting. Very slick and easy to use. Got all of the calipers installed and shimmed accordingly. Weren't bad at all to be honest. Also got the steering all wrapped up. 2nd round of powder coating will be done this week. Then I can assemble the wheels, get tires and have a roller.

This was tonight's project... Assembling the front wheels. Powdercoated the inner hoop satin black, center satin Grey and left the outside hoop polished to tie in with all of the factory trim. Tomorrow... The rear wheels. Tires will be here tomorrow. We'll have a rolling chassis this weekend!!! [emoji1303]https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...8f88a30299.jpg This Notchead tool once again to the rescue. Made polishing these 156 bolts so much easier. [emoji849] No bolts flying out of your hands or burning your fingers! Those who have polished hardware by hand know exactly what I'm talking about! Brent the frame and wheels look amazing. Nice work.

great work on the wheels, Brent. I don't envy you with that exposed hardware. I dread thinking about it with the used Forgelines I picked up for my BMW.

Had a productive past couple days... Got the first system up and running.. Brakes!! All bled and ready to go! No leaks and great pedal! Also got the tires mounted. 245/45 18's up front and 315/35 20's in the rear. Next up... Building the motor this weekend... Jim's the man!!!!!!!!!!!

Brent,
Wow…awesome work by Jim obviously and a great color. I’d have a real tough time personally to make it 2-tone.:) Is it still the plan to have this paint scheme? https://i.postimg.cc/ZYPBpVRp/E5510-...C748714998.jpg If so, what will the ‘white’ consist of? Thanks… |

Brent, major milestone. You’re correct, the paint is beautiful and I can only imagine how much nicer it’ll be once the cut and buff process takes place. I planned on selling my 55. You’re making me reconsider.

Love the color selection for sure now that I am seeing it on the car. Are you keeping all of the trim? I see the holes for a lot of it still in the body. I don't know these cars well enough to know if it's all of it though. Congrats on making this huge milestone, Brent.
Fantastic work, Jim! |

Been making some progress the past couple weeks. Got the motor back from Horsepower by Geralomy. He just cleaned it and checked it all out. Gave it a fresh hone and good valve job. Our resident "Grand Poo Bah" Jody Bernard gave me hand putting it all back together. I then primed it a couple times and gave a couple coats of satin black and spent quite a bit of more time polishing hardware. Motor is done now. Joey, my youngest, and I put the heads on it the other day and adjusted the valves. Exhaust is out getting Cerakoated. Transmission and driveline is all buttoned up. Just a simple 4L80E with the typical mods with a 10" Pro-Torque 2800 stall lock up converter. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...f94cb94621.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...dbbabec2a9.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...a58bcf8007.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...016d1fe6bd.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...4ad8272617.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...83cf7ef38e.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...50a866ec55.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...3565dcc94a.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...a47ad726bc.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...3110e0a514.jpg
