I hope so!!! Love it -- VICIOUS.... The attack of the killer bumble bee!! Quote:
Now son.... You know you have to get straight A's.. and have a perfect attendance record... and brush your teeth... and...   |
What mods do you have planned for it, Dad?
P.S. I brushed my teeth last night! |
Quote:
Best mods would be extra sticky tires and brake pads! :woot: :woot: |

Has brand new never been used rotors and pads done by the dealer. Hosier A6's for the road course??? Hahahaha |

First things first --- I have to figure out what the hell I bought! Drive it on the track --- and then assess it from there. First thoughts are -- I'd do NOTHING to it... except make the fire system better... Get myself a Hans device... along with a carbon fiber helmet... and some skills. |
Of course -- like anyone would -- I'm busy studying this little Lotus...
1477 pounds! The body weighs in at 88 pounds! Not much in the HP and TQ numbers like we're used to around here --- but it's good enough to make this lightweight scoot 0-60 in 3.8 seconds and 0-100 in 9.1..... Not bad for 109 cubic inches! LOL |
That sounds more like it... when you told me it was 2200 lbs I was calling BS immediately.... you sandbagger. LOL
What a little rocket. |

Oh, 1477lbs thats probably with 2 seats, you have a one seater, probably 1450 lbs now. |

That is true -- and mine's been juiced a bit as well.... but we're not talkin'! I want to be all stealth about it! It's kinda like a 3 lb trigger pull... ya gots to be careful! |
Those Lotus track cars are amazing! Would love to drive one someday.
My rx7 has a similar p/w ratio :) That black car coming off the transporter was a Norma right? My buddy Brandon Kraus from Roger Kraus racing is one of the co-drivers. It will be at the 25hrs of Thunderhill this year. I thought it was a French car? |
Quote:
No --- the all carbon fiber bodied car being unloaded off the transporter is a WOLF --- GB08S http://www.wolfracingcars.com/home/ing |
Well --- I was able to pick up the Mustang after dropping off Mayhem at Charley's. This time around I "only" had a Jessel shaft style rocker arm broken -- which bent a valve ($131 for ONE titanium exhaust valve)… it only kissed the piston -- and everything else was fine. Replaced the retainer and spring - head gasket etc and all is wonderful with the world now.
Considering the motor had to be pulled -- taken to the builder (T.O.E. Performance) and broken down - fixed - and re-installed… the $3200 bill seems very fair. That includes 10 hours of engine builder time to make sure all was fine with the motor other than the busted rocker arm. So Laguna Seca here I come!! We'll see if I can get one whole weekend of track time out of her!! |
Lucky Bastard. You have no idea how bad I want to go. Cant work on my car till I finish the rental and my freshened up trans is just sitting next to my car waiting to be installed.
Caulked and painted two sides of the house today. Two more sides to go and then I have to paint the trim, rebuild the front porch, paint the inside, replace flooring, and so on and so on :BlahBlah: :BlahBlah: :BlahBlah: :willy: |

Hobaugh and Pozzi's will be there -- and Charley…. it will be a hoot. I'm home now but leaving again Monday night - and will celebrate Thanksgiving in Carmel… Alex is coming up from Redondo Beach for Turkey day and I have him signed up in Yellow group to drive the Lotus. You'll be missed buddy! Who's going to let the air out of my tires? Quote:
Do contractors hire contractors? :G-Dub: Quote:
Just shut up right now Stuart! I just bought a back up car - and have since spent 10 grand making it right - the '33 is almost finished - and I'm building a new house out of pocket… I don't need your help - or Charley's either, for that matter. He's cost me a small fortune as it is already! :bang:  |

I would imagine that the track will be cold this time of year. I can deal with that. It's Alex that I'm worried about. The lotus is way more powerful than you would imagine and he'll think he's parnelli jones... We'll have to have a good father son discussion about expectations... Which he will forget all about while still in first gear. |
I've been jonesing to get out so bad I've been watching recordings of the last two Continental and Rolex series races from the last season over and over again.
The last two races were at Lime Rock and Laguna. They brought up the fact that Laguna was very slick more than a few times. Make sure that gets embedded into Alexi's head. Some times a wack to the back of the head helps  Looking forward to hearing about it  |
The Rig is sitting quietly waiting to unload the Lotus and the Mustang tomorrow morning.
Thank goodness they let me park the POS at the track when I arrived Wednesday so we could come into Carmel (where we have a hotel and Turkey dinner plans) and enjoy ourselves a bit. http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...car/file-2.jpg |
I'm more worried about the Village Idiot staying on track. When you go off here you usually get introduced to a wall. :headspin:
|

The village idiot was ALEX --- who managed to wad up the Lotus in turn 5… ME however -- didn't even spin! Not once! And I was running Green group - Not one Black flag either ---- which Hobaugh can't make that claim!! Oh that's a good one I'll save up til later. Right now - I need some coffee and a shower. HAHAHAHAHAHA We all had fun today -- the Lotus can be fixed -- it was a beautiful day -- Pozzi's came out to play - Brian and Steve Hobaugh brought the Camaro - Lillard brought out Mayhem - Mike Maier came down to hang… so we got a little socializing in and some driving. THE MUSTANG MADE A FULL DAY OF REDLINES WITHOUT A HITCH!! Gotta love that!! |
Some pics my Daughter Adrienne took….
Like father like son -- guess which one is which… Did I ever tell you guys I hate brite blue?? http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...13/file-10.jpg ALEX and I -- before he wadded up the Lotus -- you know -- back when I still liked him. LOL http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...013/file-4.jpg My new helmet -- which I never got to wear today…. http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...013/file-1.jpg http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...013/file-7.jpg And the Village Idiot….. http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...013/file-9.jpg http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...13/file-14.jpg |
And the lonely little Mustang coming down out of the Cork Screw…
So I FEARED that turn until I actually got to run it --- and I loved it --- GO FIGURE! http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...13/file-17.jpg |
I know the corkscrew is a hoot on a bike......lack of visibility due to a hood would definitely add to the excitement! Once you pick up your target no problem.
|
Great pics and story Greg! Glad you had a fun day...

Greg, We had a great day today and thanks for lunch. The weather was perfect and it was awesome to see the Pozzi's come out along with Mike Maier. I just wish we got more track time with Charlie, you, and me on the track together. The Lotus will fix. I have been there and done that. Black flag....me???? Hope to do it again soon! Brian |
Quote:
It was a blast Brian! I was so glad to see you two out there! Agree - not the run times we normally get. But I'm so glad that I got to drive there! That's not a beginners track nor is it very forgiving when someone runs out of talent. You're right the lotus can be fixed. It's no big deal. |
That sucks but that's racing. So I guess Alex will start a line of new CF lotus body kits?
|
Quote:
You two are peas in a pod! That was about the second thing out of his mouth! A coupe of valuable lessons came from this... He had been trying it get me to let him make CF parts for it... But he finally acknowledged it was light enough already.... And I had warned him repeatedly that the car was FAR faster than it looks... Again he acknowleded that it would pass almost anything in the straights. He finally quit with the "WE should modify this and WE should get a bigger blower....." |
Greg,
That's great to hear Alex is ok. Speaking of carbon fibre body parts, it'll be interesting IMO to see if some company does a deal with James Shipka to sell copies of the '67 OLC front end in CF. |
Great stuff you guys. Glad the "wad" wasn't too bad both for driverr and car. Any pics of the wadage? You know the old saying "if you want to play ya gotta pay..."
One of my dreams is driving Laguna. I will hopefully be prepped for t-hill by the end of winter.....we'll see... |
|
Dropping it as I write this at Hobaughs shop. It's in good hands now!!
|
Hey at least you guys had a good time and Alex was not hurt!! It doesn't look to bad?? Rear body panel, bumper, and exhaust??
