At least you're the smart twin who put the oil pump on the correct side. :hitaxeonthehead:

Here is something you do not see everyday. These are pulleys that Hendrick machines up for their motors. They are modular and they make them in different diameters to change the pulley ratios for different tracks and RPM ranges.

We had to alter the water pump inlet to clear the right side oil pump and belt

You can see in this picture the clearence we gained with the water pump inlet

It really bothers me that your motor sits behind your rack centerline ... :trophy-1302:

Isn't it all FUN when you get together with a GOOD builder.....

Vince@Meanstreets 12-02-2014 07:46 PM

It ain't done yet.....:peepwall:

Sieg 12-02-2014 07:46 PM

Nice Payton!

Payton King 12-03-2014 07:21 AM

My car building project now has just been a pleasure. The stress of my project is completely gone, so yes, the right person/builder makes all of the difference.

Ron, with the motor moved back as you noted, needed a remake of the fire wall which makes a great transition to my next set of pictures. That was almost like it was on cue.

Before we get to the firewall, we needed to do a little header fitment to make sure we were going to have room. These headers are from Jimmie Johnson's 48 car. They are made by Profab.

http://i1138.photobucket.com/albums/...psjqowmbyn.jpg

Payton King 12-03-2014 07:25 AM

Since we moved the motor over about 1/2 inch and how wide these headers...a little frame notching was in order on the passenger side.

http://i1138.photobucket.com/albums/...psjweyv2sv.jpg

This is the driver's side. Needed the room for the steering shaft. May still need to alter a tube but it is looking good.

I think the ladies would really enjoy that. By then maybe even DG will have his car done. Good Ron says he's not going to come out unless we do Laguna but maybe this will entice him.

How are things looking on your end Payton?

bonecrrusher 12-03-2014 02:18 PM

That sucks balls having to cut all that work off and start over again.

At least its not funny car length anymore.

Do you need a CF intake box/lid - I have one from Carbotech or whatever company that made it - it has some damage to the back - but it is non painted and in raw CF.

LS3 HQ 12-04-2014 03:20 AM

Man good to see this back on track!! Best you get rid of those JRS stickers on the control arms!

Sieg 12-04-2014 06:25 AM

Winning!

Payton King 12-04-2014 12:09 PM

I have an airbox, but thanks for the offer. NASCAR deal just like yours.

Not sure when the car will be ready, but doubt it makes it to CA this year. Me and my wife, on the other hand, that is about 85 to 90 percent chance.

Payton King 12-04-2014 01:15 PM

Well I only have a few more pictures left to bring this thread up-to-date where the car sits now. It is taking a few weeks off to catch it's breath and then we will be starting on the rear suspension and cage.

Seat mounts made prior to floor installation.

http://i1138.photobucket.com/albums/...psbbszr27m.jpg

Firewall, toe kick, tunnel and floors were next. Floors were stopped behind the front seats until the rear suspenson comes together.

We can drive together. I have a truck and trailer that will handle both cars.

Did JRS send a check?

Payton King 12-26-2014 06:24 AM

Nope, about what I expected.

I love it around here.

Payton, it's a shame the guy is such a Dick, but I'm a big believer in Karma.
I see Frank from Prodigy swanning around with his new friends (victims) on Lisa's facebook. and I keep on thinking that one day I will see that he's been hit by a bus. :D

Payton King 01-21-2015 05:44 AM

...and make him squeal like a pig? LOL

Thanks Greg, what goes around comes around.
