When you’re doing the work OCD is a PIA, but makes all the difference in the finished product. Happy new year .

Long Time Gone ...

hey isn't that a Dixie Chicks song? My car is finally home, thanks to Kevin for keeping her safe and sound, and only steps away from me now! [insert happy dance] I had to put her on wheel doolies to I can move it from one side to the other and still get a door open. Of course the XR650R has to be pushed outside to move the Camaro. I have been working on final body work, which is not my favorite task, and hopefully get it back into epoxy and then wrap.

I pulled the maroon wrap off the front valance and header, didn't undercoat the back sides, and found out the SPI Epoxy didn't want to let go of the wrap. I came off in little bitty pieces and then left the adhesive which I had to "skin" off with a razor blade, grrr. So a call to SPI and he suggested I clear coat over the SPI Epoxy to provide a barrier to the wrap. After all, clear is nothing more the paint w/o pigment.

Knowing my limits I have a body man coming over next week to look at what needs to be done to get the doors and the front sheet metal aligned and looking as good as the body tub. Meanwhile I'll finish the body the best I can and start with the mock up of wiring [AAW 15] and A/C [V/A]. I ordered Speedtech tubs and engine down bars, and sent my Ididit column back to get shortened, thanks Jay, for working with me!

Well, here's some car porn for your viewing pleasure, and yes I sat out the shed and petted my car when she came home, missed her bunches!

looking good Chief!

Sonar Chief 07-27-2019 07:51 PM

I got gas ....

lines from tank to firewall! Well that was a lesson in patience but I persisted and :gitrdun: . I did have to re-make the rear fuel line cuz I tried to correct one bend that was too short and the just made it worse, so I made a new one this morning in about a half an hour.

I left the fuel line long at the firewall and did not terminate it yet, may add a 45 degree and GM quick disconnect or leave it parallel to the firewall. Figure it's best to not commit to termination side just yet!

And my Ididit column came back, had to have it shortened to 30" to fit with the extreme subframe, thanks to Speedtech for labor and shipping charges.

Well here are some pictures for your viewing pleasure …

Thanks Wayne, there is always a first for everything!

Keep plugging away with all that is electrical and needs to tie into the AAW 15. Seems GM already has a relay for the fans, fuel pump and ac in their factory harness, nice scratch that off the list. I did find out that the Racepak needs a feed for the engine speed and oil pressure so I ordered the associated male connectors and seal for the Delphi connector that GM leaves dead headed as their bulkhead connector.

Figured I'd get keep moving while I'm waiting on parts to installed the Raingear Hidden Wiper system. Pretty straight forward, used some flex tubing and heat shrink and she's in, I'll finish the final alignment tomorrow.

Here's some pictures …

I'll keep working on electrical and get some routing and finalize the battery, solenoid, breaker and forward connections for power.

Thanks for looking ….
