Looks great :gitrdun:

Are you using aluminum AN fittings for your brake lines? That's a big no no if you are.

Back at it

after a little break helping my buddy Pete get his Rocky Mountain Sheep Ram!!!! Had a blast in the mountains but I can tell anyone that hasn't attempted this hunt it was not for the faint of heart.

All things electrical … finished up the trunk wiring and the front lighting. Luckily I had keep all the OEM harness and I needed the single element reverse light socket and the front turn signal sockets. I was surprised that AAW didn't include a wire for the reverse lights so I ran it forward and will terminate it when I get the T56 installed.

This is the terminated brown wire for the rear lights and license plate light, 1 into 3 … really!
https://imagizer.imageshack.com/img923/829/CyBWra.jpg
OEM single element socket for the reverse light, had to get the contact out of the socket to reuse the socket.
https://imagizer.imageshack.com/img922/6510/7MgAoC.jpg
The rear harness all loomed out and my fingers still hurt, 4 wires filled the 1/4 loom and it was tight!
https://imagizer.imageshack.com/img921/6088/ytJHRY.jpg
Had to tap the stands on the housings to accept 8-32 screws and then a coat of reflective paint, looks good!
https://imagizer.imageshack.com/img922/8896/GCsqED.jpg
I was very surprised to find the front turn signals I ordered matched the OEM ones, nice!
https://imagizer.imageshack.com/img921/8517/C6wxgF.jpg
Luckily I had the OEM sockets for the turn signals, molex butt connector and heat shrink and she's good to go.

I unwrapped my front GM grille assembly and to my surprise there was my dash pad:confused59: Guess it's been wrapped since 2011 to protect it from the crud. Thinking I'll send it in and get a make over but not as bulky as GM made them in the 60's. I set it in place with the new turn signals to get the lengths and placement of the wiring harness. Next is to take the rivets out and get it powder coated and install my NOS grille insert …. can't wait!

https://imagizer.imageshack.com/img921/8020/CGN5rB.jpg
I have the OEM clip for the harness running across the tail pan, just needed cleaning and some paint!

Making progress on the wiring … still need to loom everything once I know all is well and works and planned. Thanks for looking ...

Thanks Mike, it was a blast in the mountains and helping Pete get his dream sheep was worth the risks.

I'm trying to get as much done as I can before winter sets in …

Update 9/28

Update on the ol girl ... well first off the center dash panel from Classics didn't fit fer sh!te, didn't follow the concave of the dash so I ordered an Anvil blank panel!

https://imagizer.imageshack.com/img923/830/2unFaO.jpg
I keep the OEM dash panel …. they are not the same!
https://imagizer.imageshack.com/img922/745/2PUfhO.jpg

What else? Oh my Wilwood MC came back from the recall they had on the 7/8, so that's back on the car. Now I can finish up the front brake lines … maybe tomorrow :gitrdun:

So I did some looming and some de-looming (is that a word?) today. Took all that plastic loom off the GM harness and taped up loose wires for future use.

https://imagizer.imageshack.com/img922/6391/LVL7GQ.jpg
https://imagizer.imageshack.com/img924/6849/c9CLih.jpg
Still need to drill out the holes for the ac and heater hoses!!
https://imagizer.imageshack.com/img923/8249/o6kLNC.jpg
That's a lot of plastic looming ...

Got the Finch firewall plate installed and the VA evap unit bolted to the plate from the inside. Thinking of bolting on the ECM and fuse box on this plate to keep it simple.
https://imagizer.imageshack.com/img924/2540/QvAzL7.jpg

And my Dapper Lighting 7" LED projector lights came in and they do not need any mods to the bucket :D that's a WIN there!!!
https://imagizer.imageshack.com/img924/5799/FogCDH.jpg
https://imagizer.imageshack.com/img921/2614/Oz3Qqm.jpg

That's it for now, more to come tomorrow, thanks for looking …

Love the progress Chief! Your valvecovers/ cylinder head will be awfully close to that relay panel mounted on the Finch plate. I’d do a mock-up with engine in, before I drilled any holes.

Excellent idea, I thought about that last night, think I'll wait to route the harness until the engine is in 👍. Still thinking of ECM on this panel but fuse box maybe on inner wheel tub.

Thanks for the feedback...

Drilling into a

perfectly good firewall!!! Not a big deal really, after all it's only metal right?

The template on VA's website was not the same as the Finch firewall plate and it was a good thing I checked. Measure twice and cut once right :confused59:

https://imagizer.imageshack.com/img922/5445/9GwD9r.jpg
Centered and drilled 7/8 inch hole for AC connections!
https://imagizer.imageshack.com/img924/3311/OIq1K5.jpg
Had to move the Camaro over to get to the firewall!
https://imagizer.imageshack.com/img924/4331/Rt0OCY.jpg

https://imagizer.imageshack.com/img923/7241/a0hvVZ.jpg
Figured I'd get the front driver's side brake line done too!

Thanks for looking ...

Somethings go well

and somethings don't!! Thought I'd share some parts that work as designed and some that didn't.

First the good, I ordered the DSE throttle plate for the C6 accelerator and it is a well designed piece and fit perfectly. Had to run a 1/4-20 tap through the Sheetmetal but no biggie!

https://imagizer.imageshack.com/img923/6012/SujsXK.jpg

Next was the not so good … been frustrated with finding a blank dash panel for my car and thought Anvil would be the solution (they said their panel followed the contours of the dash) but it didn't fit for sh!te. The angle for the roll off at the bottom was all wrong and there was not enough concave in the panel.

https://imagizer.imageshack.com/img923/5664/DWZgdQ.jpg

https://imagizer.imageshack.com/img921/9484/fwBisL.jpg

https://imagizer.imageshack.com/img923/8396/MKyiMP.jpg

If anyone has any solutions to this dash dilemma I'd love to hear from you!!!! Thinking of making a wooden buck and re-contouring the Classic Ind Sheetmetal dash panel to fit OEM dash.

And to share some things that I found that might help someone else out …
how to attach the upper and grille to the center piece. How about the attaching the turn signals through the grille? Ace Hardware to the rescue …

https://imagizer.imageshack.com/img924/129/Fp594D.jpg
The course threads required a license plate nut!
https://imagizer.imageshack.com/img924/9148/zAQ3vA.jpg
Bought plastic nuts and bolts to hold the center dash to upper and lower panels!
https://imagizer.imageshack.com/img922/6288/bznqHq.jpg

Anyone with any input into the dash dilemma I'd appreciate your input. Anvil said they would refund the panel but that doesn't help my vision of a blank panel.

I sent a bunch of stuff out for powder coating and well see if they come through, thanks for looking ...
