Surgery to repair the knee tomorrow at 3:00..... and I don't care how ambulatory she is -- I'm punching the throttle on the rig April 30th.... I can set up a camp stove with a stock of soup by her bed. She can make and eat soup from a prone position.

Good luck to your wife and wishing for a speedy recovery!
What happened to her knee?

If I had a big trip planned, my wife would try to make me go even if she was non-ambulatory. I'm betting Mrs. GW is exactly the same and someone is smack talking on the interwebz...

She tore the ACL and meniscus 5 weeks or so ago hiking up Adams Gulch in knee deep snow without snowshoes... Then had to hike 3 miles to get out. Both Doctors here told her she may be able to do without the ACL and that she should try to just do physical therapy and see how she would get along. She was doing great.... and then tried to climb on the Willie Nelson statue in downtown Austin - and the knee separated and down she went. So now it's surgery repair it or she can't walk.

Totally true! And she'll do better and have more fun with me gone.

She just got home from surgery this afternoon -- 6 months for full recovery --- biking in a few short weeks (she bikes 50 to 60 miles about 3 or 4 times a week)....

Good luck to the Mrs, Greg. 6 months sounds miserable.
