Well I've been up to my ears in engine related crap for a while. We will leave it at my so called good to go salvage motor was junk, but I managed for find a rebuilt long block for what the machining alone would have been. Most of my time has been spent cleaning up and scrounging parts for the new long block.
Now here's where it gets funky, you may or may not know that these DOHC engines are prone to cooking the last two cylinders on the drivers side. well some manufacturers sell kits that will help with that problem. Because my car has no heater option, none of these kits work for me, so guess what I did? Duh! I made my own , I'm really lucky that I have access to tooling to do SAE porting. Now how do you think it will work, I should be able to secure the hoses with the top transmission bolts. http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...250_Small_.JPG http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...251_Small_.JPG http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...253_Small_.JPG http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...254_Small_.JPG Please note that these are pics of the parts mocked up. That has got to be the best post come back I've ever seen. Well, got my shinney bits back from the ceramic coater this week so I set out on getting this project a little further. Finished up some small details then set out to get this engine in the car. Guess what it sill fits (barely). The transmission is in as well, still need to make a mount for the hoses and clutch slave along with alternator and starter, but it was an eventful weekend. Here's the pics. awesomeness!
good work, keep the pics coming. I really like the look of the markVII intake manifold. the 16 intake runnners are very good looking. and makes it interesting. |
Nice to see a Ford DOHC on this site.

i would just drive it without the body!
|
Is that the factory MIII intake. I'm using a '98 MIII engine and my intake doesn't look like that. If so what year I need to get one. Looks good.

It's a "93"-"95" but you have to watch out the throttle body hangs off the rear and gets in the way on a lot of builds there is a better one try a "99" Continental upper only and use your imrc plates it's a cast one piece design and flows a little better.

I'll check it out. thanks
