My new wheels are done at Forgeline.. we used blind Titanium fasteners to knock off a few pounds.

Thank goodness you're sticking to the "no bling" theme :)

Cool wheels - see you in a couple weeks

Great lookin' wheels Steve! Kind of like Fikse only with a fresh update.

fleet 10-13-2010 11:16 AM

I may have missed it being posted already...but what is the reason for the wheel switch?

Oh I am (and I also know of the new wing they opened at the Betty Ford Clinic for the disease) but I want an accounting from him of a legit reason my Bad Penny pictures I carefully store keep becoming outdated.

Skip, Does Steve or any of us upgrading our rides need a legit reason other than just wanting it

BTW Steve, I love these Forgelines. I think these will be the best looking wheels Penny will have yet.

You're right. I now recall during 'the sickness' purchasing five new cars in a year.

Mod on Steve!

It's functional.. by ditching the power paint the wheels are lighter.. you might want to keep that in mind.. ;)

Cheaper to change the look of the car than build a new car.. lol

And how often does "reason" come up in our hobby???

Vegas69 10-13-2010 03:27 PM

Those wheels are going to pop. Are you driving Penny this year?

Yep.. and with that handicap you just might be able to keep up.. on the road course at least.. lol

Hey, at least I know my limitations.. my car is way faster than I am.

We need to grab a beer at SEMA..

skatinjay27 10-13-2010 04:42 PM

woo hoo!!!
love the new wheels steve!!!honesty i was never able to really dig the previous 5 spokes the way i liked the old mess ones.

Vegas69 10-13-2010 05:18 PM

Keep up? :unibrow: This big block wants to hunt a shiny penny with a oversize mouse under the hood. She's been waiting a long, long time. First beers on me.

I have no problem with you changing wheels...daily if you like. ;)

Just wondered if there was something performance wise learned from the last set and improved upon with this set.

what will the rod ratio be on the new 461 engine? as opposed to the old one? thx, rm

F'd up.. lol

6.125 rod.. 4.250 stroke..

But with modern technology rod/stroke ratios and under/over square isn't as critical as it use to be.

This engine is 4.155 x 4.250

The 454 was 4.185 x 4.125 (which I prefer)

We will let her eat and see how she holds up..

I like these. Should compliment the look very nicely.

I guess these should help on the performance because of the cut out on each of the spokes, liter wheel.

waynieZ 10-14-2010 11:20 AM

Those are some beautiful wheels. Very Nice.

Wait- does this mean I don't get my annual shotgun ride with David in BP? She goes faster with me riding gun!

Tyler

I'm not sure how I feel about your wheels. They might not look good on Bad Penny. You should probably just get new ones.

Tyler, the rules state no passengers on the road course this year. They are allowing them in the autocross.

:wow:
OHHHSS NOESSS!!

Steve1968LS2 10-20-2010 06:25 PM

Car fired up and ran ok.. brough up stuff to temp and no leaks.

Running VERY lean though.. my AF meter is showing pegged at 16:1 .. but the exhaust smells really rich (lots of hydrocarbons)

Trailering to dyno tune next Wednesday.. was gonna drive it there :(

New wheels look bad freakin ass.. I'm sick as a dog right now so no pics or weights but I will get them next week.

GregWeld 10-20-2010 06:30 PM

Lean smells Fat. Not sure why I know that.... but it does.

Unburned fuel is oxygen rich and can trick the O2 into thinking it's pig fat so it corrects and goes lean. Or something along that order. I had that issue with mine once. We fixxxxxxeedddeded it.

awr68 10-20-2010 08:32 PM

Take it easy for a day or two Steve....you certainly don't need to get worse!

It was funny.. it got progressively worse.. throttle response slowed.. kept getting leaner.. RPM dropping.. computer was all flumixed.. nothing a good tune can't fix.

GregWeld 10-20-2010 08:43 PM

Steve, sorry to hear you can't talk. Is the wife happy about that? :D

My problem - if I remember right - was the tuner (me) thought the idle was fat - so took fuel out - which then made the A/F not burn well - which caused a lean miss - which read fat cause of the unburned fuel - which caused the tuner (me) to take out more fuel -- and well -- you get the picture.

The only computer I should get near is one that just does email.
