Taking a second look if I were to do one, hind sight being 20/20, I would raise the front bumper just under the head lights and put the signal lights in it. Custom air dam below bumper. Then I would slope the nose of the front of the hood and give it a cowl or something in that direction. I think that would give it a little more aggressive style. Thats just me though and I'm sure the owner was going for exactly what he got which is a classic styling. |
Rodger,As I look around the background of the shop.I don't see any place to have a hot lunch Buffet.:willy: :willy:

Awesome looking truck! I really like the interior. If it ever makes it out my way to a show, I'll have to check it out in some more detail.

On a side note here is a rendering we turned into GM yesterday to do a dollar car for SEMA. We have big plans for this car with quite a few vendors here on Lat-g. Wilwood Brakes, K&N Filters, Jr Competition Engines, HRE wheels. We are either going to build a cage for the car or work With Ride tech on one of their new Tigercages for the car.

The Tiger Cage would fit that theme well IMO.
FWIW - I've always felt the GM designers missed the mark with the new Camaro. Side too tall, top chopped too much, and point of the V in the nose droops too much. Ford has done a good job with the Mustang styling in comparison and I'm curious to see what the GM designers have on the screen for the next Camaro revision. |
It kinda looks like a Mustang.

The new Camaro has potential, especially with opportunities like this one that are being observed by GM's designers. GM obviously have respect for Rodger and Ironworks as well as other players I'm sure, so not un-like other European companies, they're creating a design competition that may generate future styling cues. |

Pulling for you Roger. You have my vote! |

The latest happenings at Ironworks
So we have been pretty busy as of lately getting some things ready for the summer show season. We have been working on increasing our product line and working on some projects a little out of our normal.
Incase you missed it, Chad from Bangshift.com came by the shop to check the place out on his way to the Goodguys Pleasanton show. We had a good time showing him around the shop and hanging out for a few hours. I showed him the 1960 Ford truck that he said he was not sure if he hated the body style of those truck or the color brown more. But as you can see in this link - He is down with the brown, BABY. http://bangshift.com/blog/sneak-peek...the-works.html As many of you know I sold my 1968 Camaro. It is going to a good home in Texas. I'm going to take the funds from the sale of that car and look at building 2 cars to fulfill me need for Speed. First off we are about 1/3 of the way through with putting together at 1976 Nova for the Local 1/3 mile dirt oval. The car will be built as a Hobby Stock car. I'm not sure what is so stock about these cars, But I think it should fulfill me desire to race on a much more regular basis, like every other Saturday night if I want. The car will have a full cage, a 9" floater with 7.33 gears and 6000 dollar "stock" small block chevrolet with a trick out Powerglide. It should be pretty fun. Here is what we started with. 400 bucks on craigslist. We drove to Fresno after work to pick it up from the guy selling it. http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/t...k/IMAG0141.jpg We then trimmed just a little bit off the car to fill up the scrap bin. http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/t...k/IMAG0150.jpg Here is how it sits today. Waiting for some spare time to weld up the stock subframe seams and mock up an engine and trans. It is amazing how cheap and simple these cars are. http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/t...-9-2012003.jpg http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/t...-9-2012002.jpg http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/t...-9-2012001.jpg We have been knee Deep in getting some details worked out in Darrel's tube chassis for his Nova. The steering rack placement and front control arms are finalize for the rack and pinion to clear the low mount alternator of the stock LSA bracket system. When working with the LSA engine you don't have to many engine bracket system options without engineering your own complete system. http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/t...12-2012007.jpg http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/t...12-2012006.jpg http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/t...12-2012005.jpg http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/t...12-2012004.jpg |
Glad to see you're not going overboard on a Hobby Stock car. Looks awesome!

Well here it is. Almost Ready for the LA Roadster show. Finally. http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/t...2-20120012.jpg http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/t...2-20120022.jpg http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/t...2-20120032.jpg http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/t...12-2012006.jpg http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/t...12-2012005.jpg http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/t...12-2012004.jpg Introducing the Lowest sitting, Strongest 58-64 Impala chassis on the market. You have to cut out a little bit more floor then I intended, but when stance matters I guess it is all worth it. For the first time ever we have gone to using some 3/16 plate in some of the vertical section of the chassis to raise strength even further for such a big car. The entire chassis is still TIG welded. Not just the welds that get sanded down. Enjoy We plan to finalize the frame center section once we have routed the exhaust and mounted the engine and trans in a car or two. |
Here are some pictures of the Sweet machined Taillights for the Bubbletop project that we have going on. I case you did not see it in the build thread.
Sweet. http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/t...-2012008-1.jpg http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/t...-2012009-1.jpg |

So here is the part of my update I forgot from yesterday.
I have been on the look out for some really slick and clean valve covers. Sure the carbon ones are cool. Katech makes a cool cover but they have a rough cast look and kinda lack that modern feel that goes with the direction of these cars we build. Billet Specialties makes a nice finned valve cover for a traditional style. But I stumbled on to these covers that are made in Australia a few years ago I knew they were awesome. Well I ordered a set not to long ago for the shop 1957 Chevrolet test car we have been trying to get wrapped up in our "SPARE TIME". Well after seeing these covers in person and hearing the overwhelming response that these covers have gotten in the shop after just being mocked up the the 1957. I bought and and became a dealer for them. They are not the cheapest covers on the market as they are machined not cast or fabricated from solid chunks of aluminum. They have a cap just big enough for a decent size funnel to refill you engine with oil and have a really distinct look. But in my opinion you normally get what you pay for, and in this case you get far more. These covers are super nice. http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/t...12-2012007.jpg http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/t...12-2012006.jpg http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/t...12-2012005.jpg http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/t...ts/vc-0018.jpg They are available for the LS1-LS6, LS2-LS9, SBC Chevrolet, and Big Block Chevrolet and a few other various models. The LS covers are also available with and without coil mounts and in Standard and Tall versions. Most all covers are also available with oilers for you racing needs. Big Block Chevrolet - Come in standard machined color, these are just black for a special project. http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/t...ts/vc-0007.jpg LS coil mount valve covers. Billet Coil Covers also available http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/t...ts/vc-0017.jpg http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/t...ts/vc-0016.jpg For more info check out the brand new Ironworks online store for pricing and further info. www.ironworksspeedandkustom.com |
