Yeah buddy! These guys can squirt some paint!

I owned a '67 Ermine white L79 Corvette coupe that Steve painted about 25 years ago now... that I sold to my buddy (he still owns it - and it now has - wait for it.... 34K ORIGINAL miles. I sold it when it had 28K) that is still flawless to this day! That body is smokin straight and crisp... and flawless. Steve painted that car in a two car garage!

Oh.... back in the day... we did wild things! :willy: :woot:

DOOM 04-16-2011 06:08 AM

Greg if you look close at the left frame rail I do see some dirt in the paint ! I'm just say'in. You need to talk to the guy with the $180,000 dollar ebay Camaro so you can get this thing right!!!!!:_paranoid
The gang at SAR is killing it!!!!!! Love these cars ..... WOW !!!!! I hope you drive the stink out of it when its done:cheers:

I've left him an email demanding a complete re-do.... the "car deserves it".

Mario.... I actually had them cut out the old rear cross bars and step 'em up in diameter etc for that very reason. Not only will it be driven - it will be driven sideways. :willy: :woot:

greycamaro 04-16-2011 09:33 AM

Tonny

Thanks Tonny!

I haven't seen it in person yet -- but it's looking pretty good in the pics! I plan to head down on Monday to check it out in person. Plus... I probably owe them money again.

fleet 04-16-2011 09:51 PM

Obviously Greg's are inside pics, but it still looks to be a deeper red then this one.

GregWeld 04-17-2011 07:43 AM

That one has a big "extender"..... er um.... thingy

Skip,

My '32 is Ferrari Rosso Corsa red. That's the color it was when I bought it and I kept it that color. Come to think of it - that's about all that I kept!

GregWeld 04-17-2011 07:50 AM

Now you see why I went with a custom exhaust..... I HATE the down pipe coming off the header and going outside and below the frame.... guess that's the PT DNA in me.... That and everyone runs this same system. Only a few people will ever notice mine is not out of a box - but I'm not building it for 'others'. Besides... it gave the shop some hours... and kept my buddy Tim B busy for a day or two. :D

SAR Star 04-17-2011 09:13 AM

Thanks Greg, now the kids can finally get some shoes.

Seriously, I really do enjoy stainless exhaust work. Hope you're happy with the end result.

Yeah -- I was chuckling to myself when posting that.... and there's like what 15 or 20 projects in the shop?

The exhaust is PERFECT and you know it. THANKS BUDDY! :woot:

I'm planning on coming down Monday -- so see you after lunch sometime.

You enjoy it so much, I think you should pay to work on peoples exhaust.
Line forms behind me!

So at Del Mar Nats -- I saw Kugels booth... sauntered over there and introduced myself and had a nice chat with them.... SUPER NICE FOLKS.... he remembered the rear end... and...... offered me a free t-shirt!

EEEEEEEEEEHHHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAA:cheers: :woot:

Gawd I hope it fits... 'cause it sure was expensive!

Vegas69 04-17-2011 08:18 PM

Holy bejezuz your shop monkey is going to work his fingers to the bone keeping all that chrome and frame sanitary. :unibrow:

I have gloves.

Ron in SoCal 04-17-2011 08:48 PM

Looks so awesome Greg! Serious question here - does that chrome stay on the springs after they get compressed a few dozen times?

GregWeld 04-17-2011 08:57 PM

Good question Ron... I'll let you know about June.

The car will get a lot of miles between May and the middle of June... so we'll see how well that holds up.

Actually -- if truth be known -- I'm a "greaser" not a "waxer".... I really don't give a crap about dirt on my stuff.... as long as it runs well and performs well... So the shiny fancy chrome and polish is a real waste on me... but it's hard to build something without it.

I actually just "wash" my hot rods.... my sister and brother in laws blown '69 Camaro has never seen water.... He polishes my wheels at shows.... because he's embarrassed to park next to me with brake dust and bugs smashed all over my stuff.

EEEEEEEEEEEEEHHHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

moparnate 04-17-2011 08:58 PM

good lord, that chassis looks like fine jewelry!!

GregWeld 04-18-2011 08:28 PM

Stopped at SAR today so here's a couple of pics (cell phone versions) I took just for my own "documentation" purposes.... but will share them just 'cause that's what we should do... right?

The exhaust tip with the cast medallion -- they'll (the medallions) go to chrome shortly...

http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...d/IMG_0799.jpg

Here's the details it takes to 're-do' (is that considered a tweak or a mod?) the windshield post.... a hand formed piece (grey) from foam.... which is then scanned and made in one of those plastic forming machines... which is then cast in silicone bronze... which will get chromed shortly...

http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...d/IMG_0802.jpg

Here's the "cap" detail for the top of the windshield corner...

http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...d/IMG_0800.jpg

http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...d/IMG_0801.jpg

And a shot of the wheels (again)...
