Because it's easier to take them from the law abiding.

I heard an anti say "take all guns away and criminals will not be able to use them."

Look where most shooting happens. In gun free zones. Look at where mrs obamas teenaged friend was killed, In Chicago which has very strict gun laws.
We are still two year olds that just don't like to follow rules. We still text and drive. We still drive fast in construction zones. It's just not all of us are killers but we all are capable of. The military would not exist with out that imbedded switch. A scary thought.

GregWeld 02-24-2013 08:34 AM

This is kind of funny.... Seems that big ole Obamacare that nobody read before voting on it - actually has some gun laws included in it.

"The Government can not collect any information relating to the lawful ownership or possession of a firearm or ammunition."

The key word is "Lawful". Isn't that the argument at the moment, what should and shouldn't be allowed by law?
It's not about Gun Control. It's about People Control.

GregWeld 02-24-2013 06:30 PM

To me it's more about the left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing.

Our government has become so bloated..... Seriously -- Who could possibly understand and follow and administer a SINGLE law that is 9800 pages worth of friggin' gibberish?!?!

By the way -- the only way a DOCTOR is going to know you have a gun -- is if you're seeing him because you shot yourself... or someone shot you... or you're a gang banger that is shot weekly... I mean - really? Who goes in to talk guns with their doctor.

Actually....I talk guns with my Doctor. :lmao: He's a big time gun nut! He built everyone of the gals that work for him an AR last year.

I asked him about "Doctors asking about guns" and he said there is no reporting or tracking, but that some Doctors will ask about firearms in homes (even ask children) so they can promote gun safety in the home. He doesn't ask, but says there are those who do. I suppose this could come down to a persons views and that person pushing a personal agenda, but hey that never happens.

Oh and yeah...no one in the government understands what's going on.

This is why you never let your child see the doctor alone.

I think this whole thing is to keep us away from thinking too much of the fiscal cliff part 2. :rules:

Yeah! I was surprised that they don't have a safety! What kind of a gun doesn't have a safety?!?!?

I don't know much about guns. I'm learning but still a complete newb. I was really surprised to find that out about the Glocks. They call it the Safe Action System... but from what I can see - if a round is chambered and you pull on the trigger - you're shooting "something".

Maybe that's why every once in awhile there's a news story about some gangbanger capping himself in the nuts while "holstering" (shoving the weapon in his waist band).

Joe Biden says, "Buy a shotgun!"

out2kayak 03-03-2013 06:52 PM

John Stossel learned this when he studied the gun issue and then reported on the May 4, 2007 edition of 20/20, "[G]un control isn't necessarily crime control. ...[T]he National Academy of Sciences reviewed hundreds of studies and could not document a single gun regulation that reduced violent crime or murder."

Florida State University criminologist Dr. Gary Kleck found that guns are used by Americans to ward off criminals 2.2 to 2.5 million times per year. Of course, these defensive uses of firearms wouldn't be necessary if there weren't so much criminality in the first place. And this brings us to the most important point: when criminality increases to fearsome levels is when good people need guns most.

Dr Gary Kleck states there are at least 13 published studies finding no meaningful connection between the rate of firearms ownership and the rate of suicides. The consensus of experts, he says, is that an increase in gun ownership doesn't raise the number of people who kill themselves--only the number who do it with a gun.

http://www.criminology.fsu.edu/p/new...ives.php?id=30

http://www.saf.org/lawreviews/kleckandgertz1.htm

If we take the premise that gun ownership does not increase the rate of suicides, wards off criminals and control does not reduce the violent crime or murder rate, why are we so willing to give up our Constitutional rights to the government in the name of "doing something"? Do we not realize that once liberty is given up, it is either forever lost or only regained through significant strife and hardship?

Have we allowed people like this woman to go too far?

Vince@Meanstreets 03-03-2013 11:43 PM

Its a big head line because the government is very afraid that its citizens are well armed and the worst part is they do not know who is. :disgusted:

Foil hat aside. I think something big is coming and they know it.

Vince@Meanstreets 03-04-2013 12:07 AM

Also check out how much crime has increased in the last few weeks nation wide.

So, with a huge shortage in ammo, are the Feds buying it all up to keep it from getting to the public?

Sorry, I'm late to the party and wow, 58 pages and counting...

Not sure, but when they are buying ten times more than was fired in the entire Iraq war, you have to stop and ask your self why.

They're still training people.... and if there's a 100,000 guys training per day and each one only fires 100 rounds... that's a LOT of ammo. So of their stuff fires 30 round bursts... pull the trigger 3 times and you've gone through 100 rounds. Multiply that by what??

Just sayin' --- the gov has a lot of guys around using this stuff up.

GregWeld 03-05-2013 03:56 PM

They (the u.s. gov) doesn't use full auto anymore. They have gone to a burst of 3 rounds. 1.8 billion rounds....yeah that's a lot of training. :confused59:

I thought so too, but then there is this.

DHS buys 7000 full-auto assault rifles, calls them 'personal defense weapons'

That would apply to our highly trained military. We are talking DHS here. They need all the help they can get. LOL, Im more concerned of the ok'd use of drones to be used against US citizens on foriegn and domestic soil. Scary stuff.
I was listening to a report on KCBS this morning about the increase in formations of Patriot groups nation wide. In the same sentence a government spokesman used "Extremist" and "Domestic Terrorist" in the same sentance. It seems they are now lumping Samual Adams and the like in with Al Ciada. Not only is he rolling in his grave but he is also reaching for his musket.

It's funny how they throw out those terms (Extremist/Domestic Terrorist). The government is always changing the definition of things like that. Makes you wonder how long it would be before you where targeted.

Yeah man...it's all over Facebook. Anyone that goes by Vince has been added to the terrorist watch list. You should probably stay inside so those drones can't track you. That or just :hello: every time you go outside. It'll make the wonder what you're really up to.
