It's time to put the tank together and it was a very nice day to be out in the garage.

You may have to move the wires over a little bit so make sure you look.

http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...bb3ba8f-me.jpg

Very important note here. Make sure you cover the hole for the float because if it can happen it will happen.

Just in case you wanted to know yes I dropped a bolt inside the tank. Ugh !!!

The float assembly ready to drop in after it was modified per the instructions.

A Wiring Specific Tool Box (( 09-19-20 ))

Since I will be planning and running the wiring in the car it is time to put everything wiring in it's own tool box. So years ago I bought two of these toolboxes from Sears in a close out sale for $60.00 each assembled. They have been sitting in my warehouse for years and I have finally found the perfect use for one of them.

Trust me fitting up this folding shelf was not planned and the fact that it was a relief.

All of this is going to find a proper home.

Removing the Atomic 4L60E Transmission (( 09-19-20 ))

Now that I know how the trans fits and the fact that I will need to redo the trans crossmember. I am going to remove the trans so I can install
the fitting for the trans cooler lines. Plus it will open up the are under the car so I can get some work completed under the car.

I will be replacing these fittings so I can use the Holley PFT line with AN fittings

Good thing Mike was over to help.

http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...735510c-me.jpg

Don't be afraid we have a plan...

http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...c1fd300-me.jpg

Oddly enough I couldn't convince Mike to be under the rack while I lowered it down.

Perfection !!!

Installing the Holley EFI Tank (( 09-23-20 ))

Looking forward finally installing the Holley EFI tank.

http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...f8a46fc-me.jpg

Since the rubber isolator strips were in my garage attic and there was some duct tape nearby. I taped the straps so I wouldn't scratch up the tank.

http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...2b0304a-me.jpg

I needed to open up the end so I could hang the straps.

http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...67f8cc0-me.jpg

All taped up and ready to install.

http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...8f41f31-me.jpg

Since I plan to install an access door I took a few measurements so I could figure out where to cut the hole in the trunk floor.

http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...5eefb00-me.jpg

This does not look like it is going to be fun to do by myself.

http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...6cdfd5d-me.jpg

http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...23bd0db-me.jpg

Time to call for back up.

Driveshaft - Village Auto (( 09-27-20 ))

Don from Village Auto stopped by and measured up my driveshaft for me.

http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...ab9e355-me.jpg

It was shortened and balance and now it's off to the Powder Coater.

http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...f922649-me.jpg

Just need to take it apart first.

Mocking Up the Holley Fuel Filter Regulator & Fuel Line (( 09-29-20 ))

The plan here is to find a suitable location for the Holley Fuel Filter Regulator.

http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...d53cfdf-me.jpg

http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...ec7ff7c-me.jpg

I plan to use this clear hose for mock up as it is roughly the same size as the -6 PFT line.

http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...b11f9d7-me.jpg

This looks like a possible location.

http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...341cb32-me.jpg

Time to drill a few holes.

Hey Marty,

You’re a busy man! Love the write-up, all of the detail, your organization and attention to detail (and nice find on the tool boxes, they work perfectly for all you wiring materials). Does the Holley EFI tank use one of their hydromats for fuel pickup? If not, is it baffled to avoid fuel starvation? I used a Rick’s Resto-mod tank in my Chevy II, which has corner pick ups, though they say they really aren’t necessary with the OEM fuel modules used in those ranks. Thanks,

Brian

Edit
I did use a heat gun to shrink the heat shrink tubing. What’s your thoughts ??

I used a heat gun on some shrink tubing nearby. If your labels survived the initial tubing shrink, you're probably good.

Great update!

Marty, you might want to use some Permatex Aviation sealer with the cork gaskets. Napa usually has it in stock.

Next up...drill holes in the Core Support.

Marty, I'm not sure you'd have enough room for the radiator to 'move' as it heats and cools down with the side to side mounts. You may need some wiggle room there so the radiator doesn't crack somewhere. Maybe take a look on a modern cars cooling system. There should be 'pins' on the radiator that go into usually large grommets. Just a thought.
