Choosing the right organization to run with is a big deal.

You want an organization that polices its members and keeps people in the right group.

I like running with NASA because their focus is on you preparing yourself for competition. They don't do point by passing. They expect you to hold your line and be aware. If you don't they bump you back down to the lower groups. The end result when you run the upper groups is full course passing as in a race with other predictable drivers.

My second ever track day weekend was with NASA...and I agree. The debrief is perhaps the most important part. Knowing you'll have to face and own up to your actions on track immediately after makes for a much better session overall.

I was passed up to run group 3 right when I ran out of tires but have never had the chance to run with them again. Hope to rectify that soon...

Right on Lance! The debrief was awesome.... and there's no way you wanted to be "that guy". I can tell you - I did not feel bad for the triple spinner (spun right in front of me on the first lap!).... That guy couldn't even run the right track layout! Was happy to see him booted.

Will you be in Scottsdale by January??? That's my next trip down for my Mayo roto rooter.

Yeah, we'll be there then. Moving around the first of Nov. Hopefully we'll have some walls up by then to show you... :D

Jeez, I was there that day. Wasn't this in the wall in like the first five minutes of the first session?

Take time, Grasshopper--the non-race is not non-won in the first laps on a wet track . . .

Yep, early morning for sure!

It's really just a driver talent issue...... they remind everyone at the drivers meetings about "cold track" - "cold tires" - "cold you". About warming up the car - warming up the driver.... getting back in the saddle so to speak. There's no excuses for this kind of driving on a track day.

In the NASA drivers meeting -- Group 4 that Rob and I drove in -- they tell you straight up -- "you spin in this first session -- you're sitting out the next session". That's a warning to TAKE IT EASY and get in to the day without being "that guy".
