It's ready to go now, but I think I'm going to attack the subframe first. Speedtech is supposed to be shipping my control arms and shocks this coming Monday (2/2), and I'd like to have it ready to install the new parts by next weekend if possible. My goal is to get those horrible factory welds cleaned up, the seams welded solid, and everything primed before I install the parts.

Then, I need to weld the G-Link bracketry to the rear frame rails. Once those are on, she'll go on the rotisserie. The underside should be a cake walk since everything is new. Once it goes on the rotisserie, I plan for the undercarriage to be finished when it comes off. We'll see. I need to get cranking on this thing because our lovely south Louisiana summer will be here soon!

It sounds like you are in the home stretch with the chassis fab and finish. Not too long and it will be a roller again. I am going to do the same to my stock sub too. Let me know how it goes for you.

All the grey primer you see is the Omni line from PPG. The black primer on the outside is actually DP-90. I compared the two cans and they are identical. My local paint distributor swears by the Omni line and really pushed me to use it. The DP is supposedly better, so I decided to go that route for the exterior of the car. Not sure if it matters.

I have used the DP series of epoxy primers for several years. It hold up pretty well to UV light.

I had a customer who wanted a flat black paint scheme and didnt want to pay for flattened clear. I told him since the DP wasnt top coated it would fade over time. It took almost 3 years for it to really turn chalky.

As far as the Omni goes, I talked to my paint guy and he said if you are going to use it in an area that you werent getting back into(like body work) it would be fine to use under any single or 2 stage paint. Up until I read your thread I had never looked into there line of sealers.

Latest update:

Wheels are in. Tires were mounted and balanced this morning. Upper and lower control arms from Speedtech are in. My Hotchkis front sway bar arrived Thursday. Yesterday, my Chicane brackets and springs arrived for the Chicane coil over conversion...shocks should be here next week. All seams on the subframe were welded up.

Here's pictures of the wheels and tires. They look incredible under the car...well, at least I'm partial to them.
