XLexusTech, good luck on the colour choice. I think that is by far one of the most difficult parts of the process. |
Door repair one of two
5 Attachment(s)
Found a patch panel that would work so I decided to fix the OEM doors over buying a set of aftermarket ones. Was able to get to all the rust once the skin was off and it cleaned up nice. Somewhat disappointed that the panel warped a bit at the seam but nothing a professional will have trouble with

When you butt weld a long seam like that the metal shrinks and you have to planish it with a hammer and dolly to stretch it back to remove the warping. Lots of videos on YouTube etc on planishing a weld.

Strip the hood then it's off to body shop ... I used all metal to fill in some pitted spots... hit the inside with rustmort while it was open Then layed down a ton of Stitch welds ... I have to take another pass at the welds tomorrow but psyched to be do close to body and Paint.

Last piece left is the the hood . . then it's off to the body shop... It not as good as I would like it but definitely better then most production shops would do... Pete should have no trouble picking up where I leave it
