I will be posting further pics of these valve covers in the next few days. The SBC ones are really sweet, I'm gonna put a set on My Dirt Car, YEEHAW.

We have had quite a bit or progress on Craig's 33 Glass body car. It's like stuff 10 lbs of crap in a 5 gallon bag. It is a simple driver for his wife. We wedge channeled the floor to suck the body down over the frame and reworked the hood and hood sides and lower blisters to fit this car. I'm not positive on the front wheel size yet it might need to go down just a profile size but it's starting to look pretty sneeky with a traditional indy car track nose car feel.

Not faster - but it will help cornering ability... probably add like 2/10ths of a G...

I have one of about 4 shops we use depending on quality. In Cali with the EPA and Air Resource Board, etc side of things you have to run a body shop to make it worth while.

Maybe someday

Thanks. We are getting there one day at a time. It could not happen without hard work and good help.

They way i see it, Im trying to sell quality in a price driven world.

Slow and steady always wins the race.

I figured I might as well bring this old up up from the dead.

The 2nd half of the show season has been pretty good to us. We have gathered quite a few awards at the Goodguys shows this fall. Frank's 48 wound up getting truck of the year in Scottsdale a few weeks ago. He got a fancy Snap On tool box with some pics of his truck on it and got to park with the other winner in the Terrific 12 arena.

http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/t...20-2012005.jpg

Man I look like Godzilla in this picture.

The Following weekend we took Andy's 60 Ford truck to the Del Mar and picked up a Builder choice award. We also got some truck award in Texas back in October with the 60.

http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/t...26-2012012.jpg

Andy and Mary were pretty excited

http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/t...26-2012004.jpg

After Pleasanton we were approached to see if we would build a 57 Porsche 356 outlaw. We are currently working on some rendering and getting a solid direction together on the project. It looks like a tube chassis AWD, 350hp Subbie engine are the plan with all vintage styling. I had no idea these cars were so expensive.

http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/t...12-2012030.jpg
http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/t...20-2012035.jpg
And a little inspiration.
http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/t...09292903_n.jpg

We have been really busy with all kinds of different projects. We have been selling rolling chassis's like crazy and trying to get a few projects together for the Grand National Roadster show in January.

We also have a pretty good list of interior parts coming out right around the first of the year. Some pretty cool stuff that does not exist in the market place..... YET.

Flash68 11-27-2012 09:08 AM

Congrats on the awards Big Daddy.

Love the 356 project!

Wide angle lense not so nice for Giant in the foreground. :D

Or for Frank or the 3/4 scale 48 in back ground.

Now that car show season is over I wish we had some more Dirt races, But I have to wait till March now. Bummer.

Hmm what can I race till then?????

fleet 11-27-2012 09:17 AM

Rog,

We like updates. :unibrow:

BTW-what's behind the Subbie engine choice?

Well lots of reasons. Turbo, EFI, watercooled, price, Flat 4 design, Easy to adapt due to large usage in sand rail market.

Subbie engine are like the LS engines for the VW world.

I think I might put a Subaru engine in this little cream puff I bought earlier this year. Not AWD, but maybe a sequential 5 speed.

Plenty of room in the front Big Dog.

This is what I would love it to look like. Just a bit thicker tires and a lower in the back when laid out.

Looks like alot of fun different projects.

Ketzer 11-28-2012 08:35 AM

Always been a big fan of the notchback, I think a T3 is the only VW I haven't had yet. A shame you don't want to tackle the AWD on the notch, cant wait to see how you engineer it on the 356.
Hopefully you wil do a build thread on the 356? :hail:

This looks like a neat build coming together... http://www.basilari.com/

Jeff-

Believe me, if I could, I would. But The time and effort to work on your own project at this level is just a mind blowing time when your talking about nights and weekends and extra time. I have been considering building another car for the shop again like I did with my 57, but it will not be a VW or a pickup. I have a little different plan for something like that you might say.

I have been selling off the stable of project cars as of late to try and thinning the heard down to just one project and a Dirt Race Car. Ok may be 2.

WSSix 11-28-2012 09:32 AM

Congrats on the success Rodger and company. Really like the idea of building an AWD Porsche 356.

What's the story on the CRX? Drag car?

Thanks, I'm pretty excited about this 356 project. If the owner lets us run wild, I'm thinking about taking it to Columbus in a few years.

The drag car is for a local guy who needed quite a bit of fab work under the hood. Just a big turbo on a CRX is all I know. Seems like a real expensive way to run 10's.

I have a friend doing a 411 wagon with 911 engine. Not sure what his other plans are for it.

ironworks 01-03-2013 06:53 AM

Look who's car is back out of storage.

Looks like it's about time to get Mick's Chevelle back into the mix.

http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/t...pse4c9bfb3.jpg

Tube chassis, wedge sectioned, slightly chop top, 1967 Chevelle. Original plans called for a twin turbo big block with a Viper 6 speed.

ironworks 01-03-2013 06:57 AM

A little custom touch on a Pantera.

I'll be at the GNRS too, what are you planning to bring? Or is that on a need-to-know basis?:D

Honestly - I'm not sure. I have a few ideas. I down sized my booth from last year. I'm hoping to have a bunch of parts from our new product line but that may not happen.

It looks like the 1970 Chevelle we are building but in a fabricated state to show what it takes to get out chassis under a car and what the result are as far as stance and engine fit and gas tank location and exhaust routing.

Then maybe a rolling chassis of some sort. I thought about taking the 1960 Ford. But I really want to our fab work and what sets us apart from the others.
