Got a little more work done over the weekend... Inner fenderwells in. Also made inner wells in the back side to protect the tops of the fenders from stuff flying up. Yes.. Epic fail on cleaning the finger prints off... [emoji17] There is a shroud that will be painted body color that covers the radiator and condenser. Need to wrap up the AC lines and make sure all is good before I install it. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...0f939608dc.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...7574e668da.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...746aaf403d.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...bc04c0634c.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...61444b2461.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...d3bb7780b1.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...304bc83ad1.jpg

Thought I'd give my tri-monthly update... I know I lag something fierce in this department.. [emoji20]

Still making good strides. All of the sheet metal is on and final gapped. Extremely happy with the body and paint. Jim absolutely nailed it!!! Really like the pic of the motor reflection on the backside of hood.

Working on wrapping up the wiring on the inside. Only thing left is Power windows, locks, AC and stereo stuff. Then bumpers, grill etc...

Plans are off to interior next month.

I'll try to get better on updates.. Been 20 years in the making.. Can't believe I can finally see the light.. Attachment 80665Attachment 80666Attachment 80667Attachment 80668Attachment 80669Attachment 80670Attachment 80671Attachment 80672Attachment 80673Attachment 80674

Looking good brother! Keep at it. We need video of it rolling under it's own power!!

Love that car!

The BBC with the understated valve covers for example, the perfect paint and body, and the Gilmer drive belts.

More progress last weekend.. Installed the full stainless grill. So much nicer than the factory chrome grill. Built the grill support to be over the grill versus factory the grill goes over the top of it. Much cleaner this way IMO. The holes next to the bump stops are for the hood pins. They're mounted in the hood and get pinned through the grill. Hood supports are done and installed as well. Really like the way the brightwork pops off this color. Front end is done!!

Also, had Chad Fellabaum @CCTEK making a cover for the end of the air cleaner. The last pics are of the 3D printed prototype he made. We wanted to mimic the angles on the valvecovers. Fits like a glove. Can't thank him enough!! Now to make the final product and finish it in black.

Onto the side glass and wrap up the wiring inside....

Well, this past Sunday was a monumental day for me - and the family. Took the 55 on it's maiden voyage. With a fair amount of idle time, due to my job and raising kids - this car has been in the works for 20 years come February. To say that I am overwhelmed with emotions seeing the light at the end of the tunnel is an understatement. Very please with the outcome. I still have a few minor things to do inside like stereo wires and cables to run - but aside from that it is ready for the interior shop - which it goes off to this month.

WSSix 12-12-2023 05:51 PM

Congrats, Brent! That's a huge milestone.

Did a full walk around video yesterday. I'll stick with my day job! LOL!

Here is walk around with it running. Very docile in comparison to what most are doing nowadays. 502 BBC w/ Pro Topline Heads, Isky Hydraulic Roller, Hogan Sheet Metal Intake, EFI, 4L80E, Big Stuff controller for both the motor and transmission. Made 620 hp and 602 on torque.

Wow that's fantastic. I went back to page and laughed, yup, 20 years. I think I might remember when this was a new thread that I liked to follow.

Here's wishing the juice is worth the squeeze !

I wonder if being done, your left with a hole in your life where worrying/planning/thinking about the car no longer occupies your head.

Well no matter this is a huge milestone congratulations !

Thanks!! I've thought about the "whole what am I going to do now" thing. The wife has went along on this journey and has been more than supportive, so it will be time to return the favor.

Give & take. The way good relationships should be. Kudos for that....

Well, been forever since I updated this thread. Life has been a little nuts with work, moved, kids, and still trying to push along this bucket of bolts. Car is making some serious strides at the interior shop. As you will see in the pics. He is working on the back seats and package tray right now. Those will be wrapped up by the weekend. Seats will be tan with maybe some black accents. We will wait and what the car tells us. Then the front seats and carpet. He is doing an amazing job!

The front speaker enclosure houses HEX Diamond Audio Separates and Crossover. We are going to make new speaker grills that will be flush mounted.

https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...16992041fd.jpg

You can see in the B pillar I installed 3 point belts. All of the window trim will be painted satin black to match the leather.

https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...7611f85873.jpg

The AC vents will be going across the mid section of the dash. Having a panel made that will house these vents.

https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...8483784484.jpg

AC Control mounted just in front of the shifter

The Power window switches will be mounted under the lip of the console. The holes in front are for the ignition and headlight switches.

Well, Monday night was another milestone! Finally brought the car home from Interior. Seats are not done yet, but it was at a point I could take the car home and continue my mission. Now, crunch time begins! I have kept this on the down low for a while – but I’m at point I feel comfortable sharing. After 20 years in the making, I’m beyond excited and honored the 55 will be making its debut at SEMA Nov 5-8 in the Mother’s Polish Booth. We have quite the laundry list of things to get done, but I have a posse (that I am truly blessed to have) in my corner that has stepped up to make this dream come to fruition!

Holy cow this thread is 20 years old that is a long time to build a car. Thankfully it looks great and still totally up to date with current trends. What a reward getting it into a SEMA booth !

WSSix 10-16-2024 07:06 PM

Congrats, Brent! That's really great that Mother's wants your car in their booth.
