Well I hope you finish as this was going to be cool.
However Greg, If you are paying storage on this little thing and don't want the gaskets to shrink from sitting let me know. I can throw it in my car to keep it circulating until you are ready:unibrow: [QUOTE=ironworks;384264] http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/t...Oct2011349.jpg |
I think I have a buyer for the project and should know more in a few days. He is interested in the project where is it and how it is and the direction it is currently going.
We should be receiving quite a few machined parts and lots of other parts we have been waiting on here very shortly. I will continue to post. The taillights are awesome. |

I didn't want to hurt Greg's feelings but now that he's out hopefully the new owner will go with something other than Intros. That was the only thing holding the build back. |
My first set of "Intros"..... a Sears 3 speed -- I chipped in $17.00 and if I remember right it was $49.95. It was my 10th (so this would have been taken August 30th, 1963) birthday present.
That's my Dads '62 in the background.... http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...otos/Image.jpg |
Dude. Great pic!
Have you shrunk since then? You look tall in that pic. |

Nice story and pic Greg. I sharpened your pic up a little....on a PC. |
Cool pic and nice story.
Are you sure you don't want to finish the 62. Seems like there's some history with model you may regret abandoning. |
Greg how come you are not going to finish this build? Just to many others or just not feelin it any more? Cool picture and story, but that bike does look a little big for you:lol:

It would take a lot of typing to give a DETAILED reason -- but summing it up as just not feeling it -- is exactly it. As the build moved on -- I found myself asking "why am I building this" more and more. Now that my little '32 drives great... I'm loving driving it. I'm loving driving the track car ('65 Mustang)... I haven't driven my Nomad for a year (loaned it to my sister and brother in law) and haven't missed it. I still have a '37 Ford that either needs to be "done" or I need to decide that it just needs to go away. The '62 is like the bike -- it just felt HUGE to me -- and I like the "fit" of my cute little '32... My S63 feels the same way -- huge... but there is a REASON for it (4 buddies and golf bags). I feel more comfortable wheeling our R8 around... There's really nothing complicated about the decision. I just wasn't falling in love with the car other than the rendering which is super kool... but super kool for someone else. |

Give those guys at Ironworks a real challenge. Chop, channel and section away till the car is roughly a 20% smaller scale version of itself. |
Love the car Guys  , Sorry to hear you are not happy with it but as you say the only one who's opinion that matters is the owner and if its not your thing it is better to get out before it gets too deep.
Unfortunately in the time you have had with this car you have made me want to tear my car apart and start all over!! (Although I would still keep my intro's on it) Wish I had the tools, time and cash to do it but until then it will roll as is with little upgrades here and there. I Look foreword to the completion of this project and am sure the new owner will be more than happy with it. |

You have to do whats right for you. I've changed directions on my build on a smaller scale many times so anyone building a car should be able to understand this. Enjoy the 32 and if it goes someone will get a sweet project to complete.
|
Well the problem I see here is the bike is way to bike for you. Was you Dad hoping you were going to get taller.

Sadly Marty -- I slipped off the pedals -- bashed my nuts (more than once I recall) -- I grew a little - they didn't... :D

Here are some parts we had in motion before Greg decided to put the 62 project on hold.
The taillight showed up last week. SWEET http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/t...-2012008-1.jpg http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/t...-2012009-1.jpg http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/t...-2012010-1.jpg They just need sanded to fit the lotus taillights that last little bit. Looks like what was Greg's chassis will either be the new owners chassis or Kenny's. Don't get your hopes up buddy. :D :D :D :D I need to get a frame done for Columbus for the New Product Awards so we can try for Back to Back awards this summer http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/t...-2012007-1.jpg http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/t...17-2012006.jpg http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/t...17-2012005.jpg http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/t...17-2012002.jpg And yes that is a Bicycle ramp in the back ground of the first frame picture. |
Quote:
Is that ramp for Greg and his big bike? --Eric |
ABANDONED is a rather strong word... I SUSPENDED building until further notice -- I didn't ABANDON the project. Bills are paid. No balance due.... and I still own the project. So right now - those are my lights.
Just to be perfectly clear. :D |
The tail lights look awesome.
Can't wait to see them on the car. It should change the look out back, really updating the look. |

Still waiting to hear officially about the new owner taking over. |
Just didn't want people to get some misguided impression... Like I'm some deadbeat or something. I'm short... but not I'm not "short". :woot:

Even the new guy that signed up today knows.... |
It's funny how people keep pinging me about "WHY" I put this project on hold... everyone is looking for some ulterior reason... you know - like Rodger is screwing me - or the work isn't what I wanted or some other BS!
I'll say this one more time -- so everyone gets it. Rodger and I talk daily - as friends FIRST and FOREMOST. The project has always been just "something to do" for me... and was never really the dream car of my lifetime. Kool? Hell yes! But these builds are time consuming - lots of decisions to make - details, details, details. So with that -- you go to bed thinking about it - the what ifs - the maybes - the color combo... all that. Now -- I'm also working on this trailer/toter order... and traveling -- and have track car and show car dates etc.... and I just didn't want to be distracted... and have to "think" about the '62 for a couple months. That's as simple as it gets folks... In the meantime -- a guy stops by Rodgers shop and asks about the build and may be interested in taking it over. To which I said "I'm okay with that" at the right price. If not - We'll finish the car and cruise the crap out of it etc. So to everyone with their panties in a wad. Get over it - there's no wreck to look at... no dead bodies... And with that -- I'm off to Monte Carlo to watch a Grand Prix. Yeah - it sucks to be me. :unibrow: |

OH believe me we have plenty of drama. If it's not one thing it's another. Customer drama we don't have to much anymore. I have gotten pretty good at spotting the snakes in the grass in this business. But there is always something going on somewhere. |

Since Greg has no need for the frame howsabout you leave it here in Iowa on your way back from Columbus? :unibrow: It would save you all kinds of fuel if you didn't have to tote it over the Rockies again.
