Matt,
The whole car looks sweet! The front fascia looks classic with a hint of modern. I love it. With your motor, why is the intake on backwards? |

here I am getting excited about coming up on a 351w this past weekend and i see this? always raining on my parade Matt! |
Matt your doing a great job! Very impressive work. Keep it up
|
Thanks guys! It is always nice to receive positive feedback that you haven't screwed up a classic design by changing a few things here and there.

Just so you guys are all clear, that engine I posted a teaser pic of isn't my engine, although after all the measuring for the car that engine is going on, the manifold may be too tall to fit under the rear glass, and *have* end up on my 5.0 Boss 302 engine. |

What are looking for as far as HP and TQ numbers? |

For the Boss 302 engine, I'm looking to make 530 at the crank, with headers and exhaust cams and tuning, maybe even a little additional head porting. More would always be nice though. |
Cars is shapen up to be a beauty Matt. Keep up the good work!!

The car is looking really good Matt, keep up the good work

Here is a teaser of the wheels. I've been showing them off like a kid with a new toy. Really happy with the way they came out. They look absolutely killer in person! http://i366.photobucket.com/albums/o...psb4b246c4.jpg |
The Pony is looking great Matt! Nice work.
|
^ Now for sure I know I'm rubbing off on you!
I never knew how good brushed nickel looked until I saw it side by side w brushed chrome at the GNRS. Congrats Matt, they look awesome  |

I'm not sure anyone actually said that Matt.....LOL We just want you to beat Dave and Rob to completion. |

All the A arms etc on my Nomad were done in brushed nickel. It has a softer more natural look to it IMHO. |

After about 7 or 8 years -- all I ever did was wipe it down if the BadMad happened to be on the rack. It was a great choice. |
Finally got the wheels on the car. Sometimes we just need to put on shiny parts because they help motivate us to get things done.
18x11s all the way around. I will need to consult Ron's comprehensive tire spreadsheet to select the best overall tire for my application, but right now it has a set of old Falken 315 mounted up and it looks pretty good. I thought they might look a bit cartoonish on the small car, but the sides of the body hide them pretty well. The rear needs to come down a bit.. http://i366.photobucket.com/albums/o...ps5f7b314c.jpg http://i366.photobucket.com/albums/o...ps84df3160.jpg |
Love it!
I just wish I didn't know those are NewGen Wheels.... |
The car
Really looks nice Matt.
|
looking good Matt
drop that a$$ though |
Gas cap looks sweet.
|
Or just put a giant fan at the rear bumper and sit in the drivers seat so you can feel the wind blowing through your hair.
ps -the car looks incredible !!! Quote:

I'm one of the pickiest critics of vintage mustang hot rod styling there is and I give you the big thumbs up. Really innovative the way you overbuilt the character line to increase width, and having the front fender vent integrated works really well. Surprised it will swallow an 11" wheel. The valence looks good too I think I mentioned it earlier but I hate the standard valences that leave a giant hole in the middle of them with no horizontal surface where the bumper goes.
Mini-lite style wheels always look good. So did Newgen do the nickel brush finish? When I talked to Forgeline last year they said it was too problematic and quit doing it, but it is one of my favorite finishes, too bad its not in my budget. |

It was taking so long that I told Jon just to give me the powdercoated centers and inner hoops, and that I would handle finishing the outers. I know things were difficult for him and that he didn't want to end up using money from the orders he was taking to finish my wheels instead of the new customers' wheels. I totally elected to finish them on my own. Besides this was a bit of a bro deal where he sold the old set of new Gens for me to make this set, and as we all know, "bro" deals aren't done on the clock or books and things can take longer. Now, I am upset about paying a deposit for $2200 for a different set of wheels and after two years having nothing more than a set of blank forgings which are now my responsibility to turn into wheels. Those that know me know that I'm patient and not easily bothered, but that was the last straw for me. When this other set of wheels, which are updated 18" concave 6 spoke BRM style wheels, are finished, I will be happy so long as they are my wheels and design, and not New Gens. Okay, sorry for the rant. I've been patient and understanding much longer than I probably should have been. No matter how upset I was I didn't feel like complaining on a public forum, I guess until now. Oh and since I'm ranting, I might as well get it all out before burying it in the middle of updates on the Mustang build. The set of tires that came off my first set of New Gens were sold on Craigslist to a couple friends of mine. Imagine my suprise when they showed up to a track day with the fresh tires they had just purchased and we both discovered they were mine. Yes, that actually happened, no, Jon never finished the BRM style wheels in exchange for selling my tires. |
Well golly gee..... Who'd a thunk it?!?!?!?!
I just laugh to myself remembering when he was PM'ing me telling me things were fine and asking me why I'd turned on him and nothing was his fault and blah blah blah... Right there is your answer. They look great Matt... they really do. I'd still burn 'em kinda like an effigy. |
Thank God for the forums as a place for us to help and inform each other.
Matt the Stang is looking Sexy Bro! You are really doing a great job. |
Excellent work! The car really does hide the width of the wheels well. Can't wait to see the car in color. Good luck.

Steve Strope must feel very fortunate to have the same birthday as you Matt.

Strope walks over to me at USCA and says "hey Greg... I figure you're the only guy here with a California Duster.... can I borrow it?" Hot Rodders never leave home without one. Mattman..... THE SALT LICK was awesome BBQ. Kool place. Make sure you check out the 'pit' - the cooks invited me to step back in the kitchen area to check it out. It's visible from the eating area - but it was fun to talk to one of the cooks about it and get a bit closer to the action. I had the dinner that had a little bit of everything... and it was ALL delicious! I'll be in Austin tomorrow with Adrienne so she can interview at Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts. Today she interviews at the Dallas location. |

I'll be in Austin Tomorrow too, at least for part of the day. then we're taking off for somewhere between here, (Austin) and New Orleans. At least I think that's the plan. Perhaps a stop at the Salt Lick is in order, if we have time. Good luck to Adrienne with her interviews this week. |
