Sooooo.....sitting around with to much time on my hands and I ended up with this, a 1951 Chevy 6100 long bed. Called on a Craigslist add that read "moving tomorrow, must go". I was surprised when the guy accepted my low ball offer. Jeff and I picked it up and currently I am putting a plan of attack together. Right meow, I am looking at swapping it over to an Chevy S10 frame and shortening the bed. Drop in a 5.3/4L60E combo, make it comfortable to drive and BAM! Laurie suggested making the engine compartment and interior look sick and then leave the outside looking pretty much as is. There's hope for her yet! One thing is for sure, no shiny paint on this one. It needs some love, but it has potential and I have the time. Once I get started, I'll give it a build thread of it's own.

Quick call to Art Morrison and you're done! Just tell em you want the same frame Craig has under his truck, baddabing badda boom! Quicker and easier than the S-10 deal and the drive will be much mo better. Kool trucks and I like the idea of a detailed interior and updated mechanical with a driver body.
 |
Dont overlook a Scott's chassis! We can make it for any ride height and tire size. Fully Tig welded not mig. Cnc machined components. Set up to bolt the body right on and motor mounts to bolt the engine in as well.
Ok now that is out there. Looking forward to seeing this come together Curtis:gitrdun: |

I keep catching Laurie looking at 3100 pictures and reading build threads. I'm not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing. :EmoteClueless: She won't work on the truck, but watch, she will get all critical and start telling me that I'm doing it all wrong. :peepwall: |
Just checked my e-mail and found these. Car looks awesome IMO.

We have movement. ;) It's detail work now and we all know those small things aren't exactly small when it comes to the time they take. But details count!!

Back at it
Jim has been back on the car for a few and I've been slacking on updates. It's all about the details at the moment and there's not really a lot of pictures...but there are a few.
Installing the Roll bar and sub-frame connectors seem like a big step for some reason and it's the one thing that has me revisiting the plans and insuring that we have everything for the next phase. I'm pretty stoked. https://photos.smugmug.com/photos/i-...-HFDZWQB-L.jpg https://photos.smugmug.com/photos/i-...-GH445jK-L.jpg https://photos.smugmug.com/photos/i-...-mbmGkfn-L.jpg https://photos.smugmug.com/photos/i-...-pt3nBD9-L.jpg https://photos.smugmug.com/photos/i-...-XX7LxFh-L.jpg |
