Connecting the O2 Sensor ( 06-25-21 )
Am I finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel ??
Today's project is to connect the O2 sensor to the Holley ECU. http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...766ec22-me.jpg If you look closely you can see the wire coming from the ECU that plugs into the O2 sensor. http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...44291cc-me.jpg Since I have an excess of O2 wire I once again opened the harness up and plan to pull the O2 wire it back into the interior. http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...28c5116-me.jpg http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...3e50bd7-me.jpg Everything looked good and I had it all taped up and ready to wrap and I discovered that there is an adapter to connect the O2 sensor harness to the Holley harness... UGH !!! http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...ba89663-me.jpg So I pulled another eight or nine inches of wire back into the interior. http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...7775355-me.jpg All back together. http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...0d1726b-me.jpg I guess there is more wiring...ugh http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...a09ed72-me.jpg http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...ef0ca60-me.jpg My Daughter came out to test her flexibility as I was wrapping it up for the night. http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...4124214-me.jpg |
No Need to cry over spilled Tea. ( 07-03-21 )
I swear the car looks the same every time I walk out to the garage. However, I promise I am doing a bunch of work.
http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...d947173-me.jpg So my plug wires are a little short and I just learned the the plug wire for the truck motor are a little bit longer. Can anyone confirm this for me. http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...c56722a-me.jpg So 10 minutes in the garage and I spill a large glass of Ice Tea all over my Bike Tool Box. http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...72b78bb-me.jpg and of course it spilled on all of my notes http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...effed3c-me.jpg and the stuff behind my toolbox http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...82690d0-me.jpg looks like I am going to have to wash the floor. http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...5194dae-me.jpg Honestly the drumstick made me feel much better. http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...602c2a4-me.jpg Back to the wiring... http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...1f64fa8-me.jpg I made the decision to buy the Wiring Specialties Coil Harness and wow it was worth every single dollar. I want to thank Andrew for the advise. http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...8382756-me.jpg http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...4b31c0c-me.jpg http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...ffd19a4-me.jpg http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...b6e14bf-me.jpg http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...a114a3d-me.jpg So I need to shorten the loom as it is insanely long. http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...bda5c9a-me.jpg |
Love your "play by plays"...

"So 10 minutes in the garage and I spill a large glass of Ice Tea all over my Bike Tool Box"
Did the same think with 16 oz of orange gatorade Saturday. It went all over my welding bench, several pieces of 20 gauge sheet, and of course my pattern. I didn't even consider taking pictures, lol :hairpullout::disgusted::headspin: |

This turned out to be really cool as I found a bunch of my kids homework. |
Power & Ground into the Passenger Cowl ( 07-05-21 )
I am running an additional power & ground on the passenger side of the car. In order to keep everything neat and tidy I am running the wires inside the Holley Power/Ground wire loom.
http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...3335616-me.jpg In order to stabilize the wire loom I ran it through the grommet which I wrapped with Tessa Tape which was then covered with 3m Electrical tape to give it a finished look. http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...73e5e3f-me.jpg http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...53a76d2-me.jpg I didn't want a power source in the cabin so I choose to move it into the cowl panel. Which should keep it out of harms way and still be easy to access. http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...a2bec99-me.jpg I used a couple more Weld Studs to mount the power stud. http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...a96c4d8-me.jpg While the epoxy was curing I started working on the four optional wires that the Terminator X can trigger. My thought is it is much better to run it now then figure out how to do it later. http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...b9d9ad7-me.jpg I cut all four wire to an equal length and then installed a different color heat shrink on each wire end so I would know which one is which at a glance. http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...0f95bb5-me.jpg http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...019bc15-me.jpg http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...ece2f9d-me.jpg I also labeled a couple more wires while I was there. http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...e6be461-me.jpg There is a lot going on in this area and when it is finished will be easy to service. I hope !!! http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...1fa9747-me.jpg Since I have an early version of Holley Terminator X I have to trigger the transmission signal with a relay. http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...4614ead-me.jpg More notes. This one is reminding me to replace the ground stud with a brass bolt. http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...4614ead-me.jpg I am also working on a solution to keep the coil harness out of harms way and look nice. http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...7dc8133-me.jpg |
Two Weeks Later... ( 07-14-21 )
Being honest the weather was so perfect that I spend the last 10 days riding.
http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...7013de8-me.jpg I also purchased a nice small heat gun which only gets hot enough to shrink the heat shrink tubing. http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...6a399b4-me.jpg http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...8a7adc1-me.jpg I finally started working on the ground stud. http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...adea40d-me.jpg Picked up a couple more parts. http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...c04d226-me.jpg I will be using this relay to trigger the fuel pump. http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...891d73f-me.jpg |
Playing with Radiator Hoses ( 07-18-21 )
While I was at Good-Guys Columbus I ran into a gentleman that found an over the counter radiator hoses solution that may work in my car. I ordered them up to see how close they would be on my car and they look pretty good.
http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...2319c96-me.jpg http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...66078d0-me.jpg The lower looks good but it will need a swivel neck for it to work correctly. http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...0083192-me.jpg |
