was looking to use original lens in order to keep the dummy lights and turn signals but the 5" gauge was just a tad to big. it worked but had just a bit to much point of view overlap and it would just look to stock once painted. so i went in bit of a different direction..
picture of initial planhttp://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...psc7ff525c.jpghttp://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...psbf44ff14.jpg this is the way i'm going with it, question….. what tool can I possibly use to get rid of weld on those inside corners ( picture please ). they are way less noticeable than in picture but would like them gone.http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...psa65a4eb1.jpghttp://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...psb7623e92.jpg |
That looks great!
As for the weld showing through like that, what about remaking the piece that the gauge actually attaches to and bending a lip on it. It would be flush on the backside and would push the gauge forward a tad unless you engineered it all with that lip from the getgo. Just a thought |
It looks Nice. How about a Dremel tool with a stone or carbide bit in it, or you could put some all metal or bondo to round out the rear corners to match the shape of the top of the sheet metal. Either way it's going to look great.

[QUOTE=Ron in SoCal;535290]Way to go Frank. That dash looks like a lotta work! quite a bit of work. what made it most difficult was the horizontal radius and the dash face is slanted in about 15* so I had to make a separate bezel for every gauge (except bottom row) to bring them back to 90*. left a bit of space on left side for pushbutton start. so yeah its been fun but that is exactly the look I was going for. i wanted the dash to have some dept. not a fan of the flat. very happy with the outcome thus far. I actually went through photo bucket using iphone( copy and paste as usual )not directly from iPhone but I was not able to do it either way in the past. pictures of where I'm at now. http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...ps8c58feb3.jpghttp://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...ps5248c3a1.jpghttp://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...pscbccf756.jpg |
