Jody, sorry about the mechanical problems. Unfortunately some things are beyond our control. You gave it one hell of a run and I hate to see it end this way. But like tom a said, a whole lot of us are glad that you took the time out of your already busy schedule to document your build. I really learned what it takes to turn out a top level build such as yours. The pics were really appreciated. Would really like to see this car in person also. You got my vote for SEMA. Any vendors listening?

It's too bad if your not going at all because of these last minute issues

I said I wasn't going to go if I didn't have my own car, but something very interesting has come up............... :unibrow:

I've said this many times, but I've got great friends.

Hey, don't give up yet.

It is still time to change to a N/A spare engine. If I was closer you could have borrowed mine. It has been around your garage before, right ;)

With all the great people here there must be one that has an LS1 or LS2 laying around that could quickly be trashed in to your car. Might not be pretty but you could still make the tour.

Come on lets help Jody get the car running.

Jan

thanks Jan, but a n/a LS would require complete re-doing my exhaust also, which isn't something I want to do at this point. I've got a 550 rwhp LS2 sitting in the shop if that was the case, belongs to a friend who would likely let me use it.

What happened to the Maverick you was going to go with last year.

Just a guess

Are you borrowing a turbo off of the mule?

I hate that your thrash has to end this way, but it is not over until it is over. I would assume you would not over night the turbo back, ship the car out and put it back on when you got there? Or does it need more tuning and shaking down.

no, the Chevelle isn't going. I've got maybe 10 miles on it. I've actually been offered another ride.

yes, it's finished, but the turbo is on it's way back to Precision to be fixed. The Chevelle will not be on the Tour unfortunately, they cannot get it repaired in time.

clill 05-27-2008 06:41 PM

Glad to hear you have a ride Jody.
 to Charley for the kind gesture.

Fix 'em both... on the first day of the tour put a BB under the low side fitting cap and snug the cap down.

I expect a daily slide show of the "Jody Misery Index" and also a log showing how much weight he loses each day from sweating as the A/C gets warmer and warmer.

I know... I know... I'm a bastard. :D

Van B 05-27-2008 08:21 PM

Charley, do you own Camaro X now or is it a loaner? What ever happened to Thrasher?

clill 05-27-2008 09:05 PM

Actually we are headed north so it will get cooler as we go. Yes I own Camaro X. The Thrasher belongs to my friend Dave in Arizona.

Jackass is at Katech getting a roll cage and headers.
El Burro:D is here and headed to Stielow when the Red Witch gets picked up.

slownova 05-27-2008 09:46 PM

i was just about to ask about jackass or whatever. you should do a update on that thing (do you even really post pics of those cars during construction)? im glad X is going on it. i'll see them all when you guys make it to lincoln. sucks the malibu won't make it, but in the end, you will be happy you didn't rush it all. i did that with my chevelle and fought problems for 2 years. (i suck at repair, but you get the point). can't wait to see the cars for sure tho! just hope the rain stops here. im thinking about selling my cars and buying a boat its so freakin wet in Nebraska.

awr68 05-27-2008 09:48 PM

Big  Charley for letting Jody take a car...he's worked so hard and certainly deserves to have fun! Congrats on the purchase of Camro X too!!

Jody, sorry to hear that Mali2ude can't make PT...but sounds like you will have a great time anyways...and since you did work so damn hard on the car this month you will have a completed car this summer!!

zbugger 05-27-2008 10:10 PM

Jody, you're cool. But I hate Charley!!!!! I'm gonna go fall asleep under my desk now.

Charley you are an amazing man! To have all these projects going on and still make it to Detroit after the tour is great. But even better is the friendship and trust to help Jody in his time of need. You guys have a great time, have fun and be safe.

I'm looking into my crystal ball. Jody will get Malitude finished, get bored and want to build something else. He will sell Malitude and then there will be a huge push to get his next project done for Power Tour....You are already behind.

NEVER ENOUGH 05-28-2008 06:23 AM

Well, this went off in a direction I never would have expected. Sorry to hear about the misfortune Jody. I am sure it will all work out.

It's alsmost like you've known Jody for years. :D

Ok, seriously now.... Jody, when are you going to get the Mali2ude on a chassis dyno? Those are some serious turbos, I want to know what kind of power that motor can make.

:morepower

Did you see that 427-side oiler Ford with the side drafts and supercharger that fit under the hood on Mecom that had the rocket engine mounted to the rear axle? It was pretty cool with all the fuel tanks for the rocket engine in the trunk!

(edited... thanks Charlie!)

clill 05-28-2008 07:39 AM

It was a 427. Yes that is what Scott and I were talking about.

Thats cool. I seem to to remember there was a 65 chevelle that somebody also did. OK back to Mali2ude thread....I also will be watching for the Dyno results.

clill 05-28-2008 08:39 AM

The 65 Malibu was also done by Turbonique and Joey Chitwood drove it.

trapin 05-28-2008 09:16 AM

I love it. Guy can't get his car running for Power Tour so he has to settle for the next best thing and drive Camaro X instead.

This is like being dumped by Selma Hayek and then coming home and finding Scarlett Johansson waiting for you in the bedroom.

You're living my dream life Jody....you do know that, don't you?
