With such a beautiful paint job you should protect it with some clear film on the front and lower half. I think Rupp did it to Penny.

Well after a pretty busy weekend getting Marks car all ready to go to SEMA, its on its way!
It was a blast going to gingerman yesterday and running around with a bunch of Z06's and porshes and just flat out blowing by them like they were sitting still. I was laughing like a little school girl going around the track with Mark lol all these corvette guys and porshe lovers never even gave the car a second look untill Mark blew by them out on the track lol. Then they all made their way over to check out what was under the hood.. After we did some more cleaning...putting Mark to work getting all the rubber out of those wheel wells! http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o...1/DSCF2857.jpg http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o...1/DSCF2855.jpg Heading to SEMA! http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o...1/DSCF2862.jpg http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o...1/DSCF2864.jpg http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o...1/DSCF2865.jpg http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o...1/DSCF2868.jpg My dad and I have had a great time working with Mark on this project, we always have a great time working on the car. its been a blast:thumbsup: Paul |

Here is a short video from Gingerman Sunday. It is the new long course.

Have fun at SEMA. |
Hey Mark,
I noticed in the back of the last issue of GRM that they are going to have an upcoming special article on Pro-Touring. Do you know if that's based of what they saw with Red Devil and the El Camino You ended up driving? |

Here's what can happen with one handed driving!
 |

Kart racing
I've been in a few of those accidents. Not fun at all. We ran at Sears Point (Infineon) 2.5 mile and Thunder Hill 3 mile road courses at around 95mph and drafting was fun but wrecking hurt.

Mark, Congrats on the Gran Turismo Best in Show Award at SEMA. I can't wait to take the Red Devil around Le Mans in a future Gran Turismo. Do you know if they will make it available for GT5 or will it be until GT6? Awesome car! You deserve the honors!
|
Well considering they just delayed GT5 for like the 18th time - it could make it into that one!!! :willy:

Congrats on the win at Optima.
Its great to know that one from our community here on Lateral-g won the event. We are now 2-1 at the 3rd annual event. Oh Mark with all the Gopro cameras you won we are expecting some killer videos and multiple camera shots. |
It's official
Really, your car is officially awesome, it's so awesome I'll do this:
I, mexMan and the Lateral-G directive table oficcially declare Mark Stielow's Red Devil, formerly called Blue Bomber, '69 Chevy Camaro totally badass ([bad-as] distinctively tough or powerful; so exceptional as to be intimidating.), also would like to recognice it's double win at SEMA and OUSCI as a once in a lifetime event, achieved by the after mentioned car, giving to the same, a fair amount of points at life, this meaning: this car is officially declared as totally awesome ([aw-suhm] Slang . very impressive) by me and the Lateral-G directive table. Really, I love it... |

that's my new laptop background, great pic Steve.

I'm putting together a '67 to autocross with the SCCA. Your car/driver combination seems to be the fastest out there so it's a benchmark of sorts, though my car will be much, much less modified than yours. A couple questions - the day you autocrossed in Detroit, what tires were you on - the 220 street tires, or R compounds? Top PAX that day was Marcus Meredith in his ESP Mustang, about 2 seconds ahead of you. Do you think if you had autocrossed more recently and were on R compound tires, you would have been able to run his times or better? Thanks, and congrats again! |
Saw the car - WOW is all i can say.
It looks like it was built on an assembly line. Perfect !!!!! I also saw Mark a few time and he always had a crowd around him. Yep he's a celebrity but it seems he doesn't realize it. I just hope he doesn't get one of those reality TV shows that is unless it's just about cars. |
OUSCI Road course. On the out lap I'm heating my tires. I'm glad they the cones don't count on the track.
The AutoX. I have 3.25 gear so I did he whole lap in 1st gear. Thats what 800 ft*lbs can do for you. I would like to thank Ryan Zwicker for the Go-Pro Videos Stielow |
Mark that's awesome.Congrat's.
|
love the double apexing............... now just waiting for you to get the real autocross video up instead of two road course videos.........

What astounds me, after 5 years of running track days myself, is how fast and consistent Mark is, on an unfamiliar track, no less. The car is obviously awesome - saw it at SEMA and it's essentially perfect - but I'd bet Mark would have won it with any of half a dozen other cars, too.
This is what we shouldn't overlook in this hobby - driving is what it's about. The better you can drive, the better your car is. The better you can drive, the better you know how to build your car. Go out and find your local autocrosses, your nearest track days. I guarantee you, you'll get hooked. Turning wrenches and TIG welding joints will have a whole new meaning. As for you, Mr. Stielow, I'm guessing you don't like anything that even slightly smacks of hero worship - and good for you. But I still have to say, Mark, I'm in this hobby because of the '96 Hot Rod article on the Red Witch. The vision embodied in that car inspired me, and six builds later, I have my dream car. Thanks, and I hope to lose to you in the next Optima Challenge:) |
Amazing accuracy and lines on the road course. That really shows me just how bad my lines were that day. I wish I could've listened to the advice you were giving before the event. Watching your videos also shows me just how poorly my car is setup. I'm itching for the next event already. Great job.
|
It was great to watch this car going down the track & to see it in person!
Amazing work & great driver to boot! Congrats Mark  |
Thanks for all the kind words! It has been a crazy year.
This is the Blue Bomber - Red Devil 2 years ago http://i439.photobucket.com/albums/q...DSCN2491-1.jpg This is my car at VanNus's a year ago. It was a primered steel sheel. Also I changed the car from LS7 powered to LS9 power after OUSCI event. Paul, Joe and I were joking that we though it was cool that we got it done because we all had full time jobs and we did it in our spare time. http://i439.photobucket.com/albums/q...l/DSC_2867.jpg This was the car last week  http://i439.photobucket.com/albums/q...evil/07WM1.jpg I could not of finished this car with out the help of a lot of buddies. Paul and Joe VanNus - for paint and body Ryan Kuhlenbeck - for the whole wiring harnesses and car assembly Dave Mikels - Engine calibration Brian Thomson - Engine build Joe Borscke - Fab work on Rad, Exhaust, Cage It was great my Mom and Dad got to see the event. They have some great stories to tell there friends back in KC Stielow |
Amazing transformation. Killer for sure.
|
My favorite build of all time, Mark......obviously........so far....:_paranoid
