Too ornate on the front end IMO...

So I agree with changing the chrome over to white and blacken the grill.

Having a photoshop done, just to be sure, is my suggestion as well.

Tom.A 09-27-2012 03:23 PM

I hit the submit button too quick. Here is a bad photoshop of blacked out grill
http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x...perf/greg2.jpg

Not sure what area of white you are talking about?

GregWeld 09-27-2012 03:27 PM

Tom --

Alex (son) and I were thinking maybe leaving the Mesh and it's surround "chrome" and whiting out the larger part of the surround.... seems to be about 3" or so around the inner surround and mesh...

And whiting out the surround in the bumper but leaving the mesh chrome...

Does that make sense??

THANKS!!!! BTW!! Cause I don't know how to do any of that....

Musclerodz 09-27-2012 03:44 PM

I would white out the surround and the fog light plate as well. definitely too bulky looking

Looks great Greg, interior looks cozy.

Seeing is how we're doing some photo-shopping,what about leaving the mesh shiny and black out the rest to match the mirror arms?

Could always try bolting on a 69 Camaro nose, who knows it may bolt right on:unibrow:

LMFAO, Thats about what Greg will look like in the big rig.

96z28ss 09-27-2012 05:25 PM

I would paint the surround body color, leave the inside boarder and the mesh chrome. Making the mesh black will make it look like a set of nostrils on the front. just my .02

P.S. also not all that crazy about the headrest advertisment. The .com address looks so tacky in there, kind of downgrades the interior IMO.

you need something ghay like this. Or a big star on the side letting everyone know you are a cowboy. Kidy up.

GregWeld 09-27-2012 05:48 PM

Brett ----

I'd do it but then I'd have to get a CDL!!!

Of course then Ironworks - SAR - and Brizio would all want equal billing...

Do you think SAR stickers would last very long on the steer tires tread??

67zo6Camaro 09-27-2012 05:59 PM

Just for the record, that thing is Bad arss. Drive that thing to Sema and I want a ride. :)

Ha ha! I'm sure!

Gwen and I are taking the R8 to INDE Motorsports - from there she'll fly home and I'll be "forced" to drive it to SEMA....

Tread side of the rear mudflaps would be just........condsidering the torque spec.

You know -- It could be worked out.... but I'm not real well known for driving "straight home" -- I kinda tend to zig and zag about...

I would not complain about being kidnapped after the last two months. :D Besides the trailer would be nice and clean by time it got home.

Yeah -- I get that! It's not been easy for you lately.

Trailer prints haven't even been approved yet.... we're still nailing down details. So doubtful it will even have had a single screw layed by SEMA... but I am wrestling with having a car down there for SEMA -- the Mustang in Sonoma -- and the truck in Phoenix and how I'm going to deal with all of that...

Vegas69 09-27-2012 08:20 PM

Bad ass...... Put some miles on it and let it soak in first.

Buy a Yugo in Vegas and abandon it at the airport? If you can arrange diplomatic immunity I'll drive the Mustang back. :unibrow: Assign Stielow as production manager on the trailer project? http://www.desmonorthwest.com/forums...s/popcorn2.gif

I figure Kelli will take the week off ---- and drive me down to Phoenix -- I'll pick up the truck... Susan will come over from da Bay... and we'll all end up at Charlies' place...

Well that definitely changes my wardrobe plan.

GregWeld 09-29-2012 10:35 AM

This is more what I have in mind for the total GRILL area.... just making the whole grill appear smaller.... so that's what I've asked them to do.

http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...me/Image-2.jpg

GregWeld 09-29-2012 10:51 AM

Turns out that because I ordered the 470HP DD13..... the RADIATOR is 1500 SQUARE INCHES instead of 1000 Sq inches.... thus my GRILL is far larger than "normal" --- which is what's making it - obviously - appear so friggin' huge!

I sent the dealer the picture I just posted of the black truck and said "Why is my grill so much larger than this one"?

LOL ----- too funny but it makes perfect sense!

fleet 09-29-2012 11:37 AM

New license plate suggestions...

1500sqr

or

bgmouth

You can send the outer shell to Alumincraft and have him make you a flat bar grille inset like he does all the street rods. Nice stuff. I would like to send my grille there some day. So horizontal bars would help you accomplish your goal.

Ask for Dan Baker

If I want a custom grill -- I'll roll this big ol' POS into my own shed and fab one up with my own tools! Of course it might look like the guys teeth in Compos new avatar!

I'm not just one of those "check book" guys!

Not to get this thread off topic , I may have missed it but I notice a new car in your list and I see the bubbletop is for sale. Hope someone continues with your vision with that!
Wouldn't mind having that Nomad in my garage, really like the 8-Stack!
Cool truck by the way and agree with your changes to the grille.

No biggie John --- Heck! I'm the biggest thread jacker on the entire forum! :D
They're all just one giant balled up conversation anyway.

I'm discussing with a buddy (Mark Young - he owns NW House of Hardtops in Portland, OR) that takes LOTS of cars to Barrett Jackson - having him take the Nomad to Scottsdale and just make it go away...
Ditto the '37 project car - except it's not a BJ candidate - it needs to be sold privately. I too, hope that someone picks up where we left off on the '62 - in the meantime Ironworks can use it to show their frames off...

Sounds like a good plan narrowing down your fleet to just Fords. :D

Now if you could just get the right motor in all of them.

Come on now, you and I both know everyone should have a GM car in the shed to store parts on.
