Nice pic Skip! Yeah these guys have been doing World's fastest street cars, Hemis, boat motors, race car fab, you name it. I was surprised to see Euro Exoctic in there, but they do that too!

Thx buddy. I won''t forget seeing - who was it Mike Norris - @ RTTC1 timing your car on the AutoX saying, 'man that car's fast.' There's a lot of good power out there, but seeing you run showed me what it really takes...

I think he said "borderline scary". Haha Power certainly doesn't hurt your chances. Road racing is where it really makes a difference. We've seen low powered cars be very successful in autocross and the speed stop.

When do you plan to dyno and what numbers do you expect?

Hey Bro - I used a factory TB, ported by a guy on Corvette forums. He does a lot of these and it looks real good. After I sent it out I saw a company that does a CNC spiral port. I'd be interested to see if that is a better approach?

I went thru many TB's on my previous LS Engines from aftermarket 90mm to 102mm and the best TB that gave me zero problems was the Stock Ported TB's, plus I never noticed any gains with the Larger TB's.....I Have the spiral ported by V-Max will see how that performs.....I was told it should help tuners dial in surging/bucking with large cam setups

Flash68 02-05-2012 11:57 AM

I like that you didn't go with a big duration cam like many do. That should keep some awesome low and mid range in that beast. Should be a great all around motor.

Yeah that was the quote. And watching your last left and down the straight proved it.

Dyno's somewhat unknown. Shooting for 550 rwhp and a tall/flat torque curve. Getting rid of the Ti rods added a little weight, but the whole assy is weight matched and Crower rods are are called Maxi Lights. I did keep the lightweight valvetrain, so if a I get a lttle less top end but gobs of upper torque I should be good. Let me know what you think?

So true. AFAIK, the intake has a bigger effect than the TB. A big TB on a stock intake is like putting a paper towel roll up to your nose.

Let me know on the spiral Phillip!

Epic update Ron - that thing is going to be a little monster! Can't wait to hear it and to see what you think of the clutch/fw setup. How long before you think you get to run it?

Q: You mentioned FAST rails on the stock (ported) LS7 intake. I swear I've seen such a beast but when I called FAST last week they claimed there was no such part - only the ones for their LSX(R) intakes. FAST also makes them for Katech now but again, only for the LSX(R) intake. I'd love a set like that for the stock intake. Mast had their Black Label rails but stopped making them. Any hint on the part#? Otherwise might have to stick with my Aeromotive rails.

Great catch Gregg. I called COMP/FAST and think they steered me wrong. I was given a verbal that these would work: (jegs) 244-146027-KIT. When we went to install, first they needed injector extensions to sit a little taller (not a big deal), and then the brackets they included would not fit on the factory intake. We'll need to either fab a bracket to mount to the factory rails or go a different route. The rails mounted do not align perfectly and I'm not sure just bolting them down is gonna fix it. Calling COMP today so we'll see.

Yes - that's the only number I've managed to find and it's for their LSX/LSX-R intake(s). I'm not sure if you will get the injectors to seat. You might be able to machine some brackets to work. Aeromotive makes rails that will bolt-up for you - that's what I'm running now.

Keep us posted.

Give Nate at Nasty a call 847-458-4858. One stop fuel shop.

Why not go with a FAST intake? Leaving a few ponies on the table there mister :unibrow:

So today was a fun day. Me, Bryan, Trevor, Matt and Cris went down to Supercar Sunday. Decent turnout @ SCS and me and Matt recruited a second gen to RTTC. We'll see if he shows  ...

After that we all drove down the road to JCG and hung out for a while. Props to Cris for hosting and lunch, and Matt and Trevor for making the drive down. Trev tell your Dad we're glad he drove you down...:D

Here's a couple pics. A little bit of fab left and the car is ready for reassembly:

Bummed I couldn't make it this weekend - one 3.5hr trip through LA traffic up to Santa Clarita on Saturday was enough for one weekend!

Will have to come check the car out when you get her home again

And you thought I missed that remark ;-)

I had made some modifications to the car after the dyno session the other week so Saturday was all about a follow-up roadtest and re-tune "on the street". We litterally drove, logged, pulled to the side, tuned, repeat. Just a lot of little tweaks here and there, mostly for the street, very little change to the WOT (which of coarse we would never do on the street :unibrow:) I learned a ton. The car just plain runs and drives better now, which got thee ultimate test on the way back home! It was also the ultimate test for the fuel issues now that we have the Vaporworx kit fitted and coated the stainless headers to bring the underhood temps down. ZERO issues. Now to swap out that clutch :faint:

And yes, that firewall is clean... Nice little touch around the mounting for the Wilwood stuff. All transition edges smoothed out. You sure this is still going to be a driver and not a show boat?

Lol loving it. Can't wait.

Thx Brett! Yes, 427 is the new 350 I think. Less than 1/2 of us can use it, including me...:D Talk soon Brett!

This weekend I took a turn wide right behind Cris on his deserted street. Trying to get him in the corner, he stomped on Blue balls and I was toast. I'm sure your WOT is plenty fun...:unibrow:
