I love the Nova.

57hemicuda 04-17-2015 06:08 PM

Totally stupid, but hey that's me. Bought this old military truck to plow out the driveway after the bad winter we had. So while I'm supposed to be working on the AMX, I'm tinkering with this 1954 dodge M37.

Narrow Dually Dana 60's so I could run HumVee bead lock wheels and tires, and to upgrade the brakes. I am installing a big block Chrysler 383, TF727, and 205 transfer case. Almost done, was putting the oil pan on tonight, and just couldn't leave it alone. Can't believe Chrysler never put any baffles in the 4x4 truck factory pan. So I had to. What is wrong with me?

The love of a challenge :king:

57hemicuda 04-18-2015 05:15 AM

Donny, those things are the cure not the disease.

The disease is in my head, it involves a long list of vehicles, that I must have before I die. Lets face it I'm 50, I need to hurry up, its a long list. Tick-Tock.

The way I see it, the only real cure is to remove the diseased area, with maybe a samurai sword or meat cleaver or something of that nature. We all have our crosses to bare, I'm just going to have to live with this one.

dontlifttoshift 04-18-2015 07:05 AM

Preaching to the choir, brother. breakin your bawls because mopar......

We should drink and make a list of cool cars to build, power wagons aren't on mine but I don't think '41 Cadillac made your list either.

57hemicuda 04-18-2015 07:46 AM

True dat!!!

grendel 04-18-2015 05:57 PM

I love both projects... I really want a Dodge W53 Carry All.

Have a 4BT Cummins for it, just waiting for a home.

57hemicuda 04-19-2015 12:22 PM

WC53 is my dream truck, I do also have a WM300 with an old school Hemi

Me too. I found one, but it's 18K, which is about 8K more than I want to spend on a body and frame. Everything else would be replaced to be more streetable... and WWII aficionados everywhere would cry.

I love the Power Wagon. I want one of those, too. Love the rounded Civvy cab with the big flat fenders.

Ron,

You are taking WAY too long on this build. What happen to just bolting some parts on and just running it? You were supposed to have this thing done 2 freaking years ago for Motorstate! You should try focusing on one project at a time slick :poke:

Actually that statement is a description of me, but I thought it applied to Ron as well lol. Motorstate 2016 here we come...ha ha

Haha, yeah a got what you were saying...can't wait to see both of your guys cars out there! Now, get to it

57hemicuda 09-24-2015 06:18 PM

Go ahead, kick a man while he's down. If you guys knew the cars and trucks I've built, or helped build in the in between time, you'd leave me alone. But I guess if your going to start a build, and post it on the "internet", you need to finish it.

I am on it boys. LOL Other then the addition I am putting on the house, my business, finishing up a few other builds, my wife, 4 kids, now 2 grandkids, this thing has my full attention.

Ron Sutton has all my pick points, and his genius is at work as we speak. Will make his tweaks as soon as I have them. Then its guns a blazing.

Sieg 09-24-2015 09:03 PM

I think it's more like the 'taunternet' in your case. :D

Ron,
My point exactly brother!! I was cracking up writing that comment thinking about how retarded I am having so many car projects going on, building a new house....and oh yeah, a job that will probably kill me long before I finish any of it. If I ever get around to resuming work on my 65 Corvette coupe project, it will take me a week to remove everything piled on top of it and a leaf blower to blow all the dust and debris just to recognize it. BTW, I think my Nova build thread was last updated before it was running...way to stay on top of it lol. I just find it easier to screw around on your post busting your balls :lmao:

Jeff

I enjoy following your builds Ron. Saw another chubby fender AMX in a local car mag yesterday and thought of your car. Here's some motivation courtesy Roger Burman and crew at Lakeside Rods and Rides.

House addition is finally winding down, and there is a blizzard out side my door. Perfect weekend to give this poor car some love.

I will do some plowing with the Dodge M37 I built, fire the heat up in the garage and start working. Will have some kind of build pics posted by the end of the weekend.

I click on Rons build threads, look at a bunch of cool ****, then have to go back and read the title because I forgot what the thread was about! Ron needs his own forum.

Even though so much snow sucks, having that thing for a plow almost makes it worth it Ron!

Is that you Ron?

57hemicuda 01-24-2016 04:23 AM

All I can say is thank goodness I went with the big block with my snow removal equipment, because this is some heavy snow. I was this close to installing a 4BT Cummins, but remembered how hard they are to start when the weather is this cold, big block FTW. I love it when a plan comes together.

Build thread off the M37 Site

Thanks for posting the link to the M37 build--it's fun to see what happens when Ron S. shows up on another site and blows everyone away (again). The truck is killer!

This just (unfortunately) pushes me closer to my stupid Willys pickup idea . . .:getout:

57hemicuda 01-24-2016 05:20 PM

In between plow runs I did get a few minutes to play. Changing the rear suspension to a decoupled 3 link per Ron Suttons suggestion. Payton says I should change the thread name to RS squared. LOL

Got main chassis mounts made, still have to trim them up, and make them sexy looking.

Have to get the housing mounts made, the Dana 60 is going to make that difficult, but not impossible. Just nice to be working on this thing again.
