1st gens bore Greg...Racer Weld was used to seeing 'em in his rear view mirror all the time! :wow:

...when he'd pull out of his driveway, before he got his brother-in-laws '69 back to him. :P

Mark,I spent about 3 hour's yesterday looking over the camaro.Wow!!!.Very nice.I love the OEM look build style.   Congrat's on OUSCI.

96z28ss 11-04-2012 09:23 AM

I say the way Charlie was glued to the car and wouldn't leave it's side at the show, he'll own it eventually. LOL

Spiffav8 11-04-2012 10:10 AM

Another home run for Mark.

Like everyone I enjoyed watching the build and looked forward to seeing the car. Seeing the pictures online is one thing, but seeing this one in person was so much better. The paint colors & combo are very impressive. It breaks the mold in a way and opens the door to new possibilities. (IMHO) Mark loves to drive and it shows on the track. The car is impressive, but so are Marks skills behind the wheel. Mark was great about showing the car, talking to people and answering questions. For a guy as busy as he is, I was impressed that he made himself available to everyone all week during SEMA.

Mark....thanks for taking the time to answer all my silly questions. I learned a lot and I enjoyed watching your runs at OPTIMA. I look forward to seeing a few more and soon.

The only car & driver able to shake the ZR1 chase car at OUSCI lol! :unibrow:

Totally bad-ass Mark - congrats!
(thanks also for spending time answering my questions at SEMA too)

yeah, they drove right off turn one into the dirt and rocks trying to stay with Mark.......... and that was with race tires on their car. Waiting for the video.

Mark,

Congrats and good meeting you at SEMA.

murrayrx7 11-04-2012 05:11 PM

Congrats on winning in 2012. I watched a interview with you and know you like to use the 1st gen camaro cause you have alot of spare parts and know everything about them but if you ever did a wildcard type of car I think it would be cool to see a 67 or 68 Firebird.

nicks67ca 11-05-2012 05:09 AM

Nice job Mark, The car was amazing to look at and watch run. I have a video of the car running in the straight away under the bridge. I'll try to download at work and post later....I missed one run where you had flames shooting out of the back of the passenger side exhaust. That has to make the highlight reels...

Thanks for the entertainment best $30 I spent all week.....

Nick

Great line.

Pro sports team owners should feel threatened. :D

Lets try this.

Mayhem drive by.

Roberts68 11-05-2012 08:40 AM

Sounds like Mayhem has an angry exhaust note... seems appropriate. I like it!

:hail:

geberhard 11-05-2012 10:26 AM

Mark congrats and again the pics do not do justice to how well tailored this car really is. It was great and refreshing to see a 67-68 body build to break the 69 ice, and the subtle and not so subtle details on the car really made the ride pop!

Congrats Mark on the OUSCI win, and to all the other runners that posted impressive times.

OUSCI video

This was Mark's quickest lap on the autocross.

OUSCI Video

And here is the last lap on the roadcourse.

Spiffav8 11-05-2012 09:28 PM

That was awesome! Great videos...thanks for sharing.

GrabberGT 11-06-2012 07:12 AM

Ha! I want to see the driver cam footage. Surely its not as easy going as those vids make it appear to be.

I'll second that and add that it would be awesome to see the footwork taking place, especially when Mark spoke of his attention to detail (SEMA V8TV interview) in pedal setup pertaining to heel/toe shifting comfort etc...

You are right, it looks so smooth and graceful looking out over the hood but as they say with sportbikes.... smooth IS fast.

Sonar Chief 11-06-2012 04:55 PM

Congrats

Congrats on the win ... you worked hard for that and it shows, just watched the V8TV interview and finally got to see the 69 dash in the 67 Camaro - looks pretty cool!

Mark you just raised the bar again ... keep it up :hail: :hail:

Amazing job!

Looks like you are running 69 dash? More real estate for gauges?

Jr 11-24-2012 02:53 AM

Mark,
How hot did the IAT get on the road course? Is there a special part number for the radiator? Also, did you have to roll the rear quarter lip to get the tires to fit?

Thank you.

bonecrrusher 11-24-2012 09:08 AM

Congrats - the engine bay looks awesome, like always!

Thank you.

The fenders were pushed pulled or flared outboard 3/4" front/rear and the inside lip is also rolled from the 10 - 2 O'clock position. The rear tires are very close the inside outer fender edge probably not more than a 1/2" sidewall to metal, but thankfully they don't rub!

Mark now that the dust has settled and you have had time to catch a breathe I'm curious as to what your thoughts are on this car vs Red Devil? It obviously gave you the result you were looking for winning OUSCI!
Did everything you try work as planned? What would you do different? And if you care to divulge what were you not able to get done as you ran out of time that you still want to do?

That is what is next build is for:D

214Chevy 12-13-2012 02:35 PM

From what I've heard, Mayhem is already gone to Charlie and Stielow has already bought another 1st gen. If that's true, fess up Mark. What's next on the menu? You know we are "Stielow build" fanatics and love to see you at your craft.

dontlifttoshift 12-13-2012 03:10 PM

I heard the next car is so awesome that if you whisper "Mark Stielow" in Chuck Norris' ear, he starts to cry.

I heard the Mayan calender was actually talking about the start of the Stielow Calender and not the end of the world.

I'm not sure if this one is true or not, but someone told me, that when there are no passengers or video cameras in the car that Mark doesn't even drive. He just wills the car to go, stop, or turn and sits back and eats tacos. I find it hard to believe he would eat in the car though........
