Actually Jason got the mechanics for the gauges mocked up this after noon after we water jet the face back . John is holding out. They look awesome. time for a graphic designer to set up the gauge faces. And to work on the next steps like the bezel with plastic lenses with LED strips.

I'm sure the warranty has been affected, but Autometer make the best Quality gauges on the market, so what else are we going to use, besides the BEST.

As far as making the door bigger, we would not be able to do this stuff if it was not for John, so as long as he pays to keep the lights on and the welder welding, we will just keep install a bigger front door. I have a feeling the interior will out due the rest of the car with some of the ides we are working on.

Just FYI, we are planning on displaying the John's 66 in bare metal at the Del Mar show the beginning of April, We will also be displaying Eric's 62 Convertible also. Along with the Unveiling of the C6-57 trunk project.

Thanks Guys

Wow Awesome gauge cluster just like the rest of the car!

J2SpeedandCustom 02-25-2009 02:30 PM

Looks sweet! But someone had to say it......Looks like the cluster in "Chicayne"

Kory 88Iroc Lt1 02-25-2009 04:18 PM

Thats really cool. Do you have any tips on taking the guages apart. I have been thinking of taking my phantom tach apart and removing a chunk of the case so I can fit it closer to my speedo.
Very nice work.

Just take pair or side cutter and cut the ring and twist it off the face of the gauge. It is pretty easy. Here are some pics of the dissassembly, and how the gauges look apart.

I would have to say, if I was going to be compared to something 'Chicane' would be a great milestone to be compared to.

Roger,

Is that the material for the headliner in the pics.? If so I think you should have the Ironworks logo stitched into it. LOL !!!!

Porsche GT 3 dash 2nd picture

I think John's dash looks more like the Porsche dash than the Chicane dash.

Just when I was beginning to like suede headliners, now terry cloth headliners are all the rage. Who can keep up those cutting edge kalifornia guys. What will they think of next.

Yea, I have a set too.
Come to think of it I purchased them after I saw Chicane at SEMA on its debut. I guess product placement does work. Or is that just called advertising?

come on man, rodger told me how sick that dash is lookin but niether of you guys will spill the beans with the pics....
so did you make it to the show sun. what did you think? the autocross was cool but the show was kinda lacking in the car department. of course i thought there was a pretty cool 63 nova. haha

ironworks 03-16-2009 05:36 PM

You should have see the 63 sitting on the ground on Sunday. The Alston boys liked it so much they want it in Pleasanton in 2 weeks and asked us to bring somebodies 66 a week before Del Mar to display both in their booth also.

I did! Your car looked SOOO SICK up on the stands but when they put it on the ground! :wow:

I got a good laugh watching people that were checking out the Alston booth wander over to your car thinking "Hmm! Cool Nova! Lemme check it out!" They had no idea! LOL! As they approached the car you could see a kind of perplexed look on their face as all the details started to wash over them! As soon as they were able to get a good look their jaws just dropped!

It was so funny just watching the progression from perplexed to just completely in awe! Just seeing guys sprawled on the floor checking out the undercarriage just shaking their heads in amazement! It was great!
