I have friends with daughters that ride and work the stable also. I agree it's a perfect life lesson for them and they will end up assimilating into the work force much easier then some kids because of it.
As for the insurance thing give AIG a try they might be able to help. They have taken care of mine and my dads cars for years. I have a little wiring to do in the dash panel, wire the front turn signals. Then its time to kick it over and run it. Then off for exhaust and then upholstery. The goal, now that I am going to miss Syracuse, is to get it on the road in August to work the bugs out. Then bring it to Burlington, VT for the NSRA show up there. |
So I have not been doing much on the car in the last few weeks. I am so incredibly disgusted with it right now its pretty hard to even look at! For the first time during this entire project I have been letting someone else work on the car in the hopes it would help me. Well, that didn't work as planned. The guy is a friend that has wired dozens if not 100 hot rods over the years. I don't know why now, or what has changed. But he is dragging this project out. Started wiring in early March, and it still isn't done! On top of that, look at this rats nest of wires!!!! So because of the delay I have missed my turn at the upholstery shop and that guy had to take the next car in line, understandably. So now I am to a point where I am about to rip all this out, buy a new harness and start over and just do it myself. Such ugliness I can't take it.
This looks like an 8 year old did it. One step forward, nine steps back......... http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/i...pscn3gyir1.jpg |
ouch Glenn, that sucks!
Take a break with the family this weekend, get a new perspective. Maybe your daughter is meticulous and would help sort that mess out? I know sometimes when i get disgusted my Kasey will help with her car on some of the crap and I am amazed I didn't ask sooner. good luck on whatever you decide, you've gone too far to get disgusted now... I have finally gotten far enough in the build to get the car out for exhaust! I am a few months behind schedule as I had really wanted to have the car at the Suracuse Nationals in early July. Clearly that didn't happen. Oh well, it will be done when its done I guess.
Here is the car peaking out into the sun for the first time since last summer when I painted it. Now its a car! http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/i...pshqyu4270.jpg http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/i...psbliqytwk.jpg http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/i...pszadiwptw.jpg Ready to get loaded onto the flat bed for the trip..... http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/i...pskkmc2ms8.jpg http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/i...psskdirs16.jpg http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/i...pskkvirjxz.jpg http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/i...pscdgoim1q.jpg This was a bit heart wrenching. Like watching your first born get on the bus for the first day of school. http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/i...psuc8heb5m.jpg New 2.5" steel exhaust custom bent. Very tight to the floor and neatly done. Flow master 40's on there too. I will be taking this all off this fall and have it HPC coated. http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/i...ps1v4d7h6m.jpg And the guy that did the exhaust is friends with former pro wrestler Bob Backlund. Looks like he likes my car!! http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/i...psb78fweja.jpg |
Even though I can post from Photobucket, I am struggling to get the videos to link. So, click on the link to my FB post and see/listen.

Todays project was to get the hood all sanded and buffed and finally installed. Hopefully this will not come back off. Its so cool seeing it come together one part at a time. Ran out of time and still need to do some minor adjustments for the gaps, but i'm happy with it for now!
