The car looks sweet Todd.

monza 08-09-2009 08:36 PM

Looks great! Really had to restrain my self from making a nice 'rides' joke.:_paranoid

Just noticed, maybe it's covered in the past 69 pages but how come one black bumper and one chrome?

Vegas69 08-09-2009 09:31 PM

Ha..ha.. I just like the ass end of a 69 with a chrome bumper. I admit it worked better with the other wheels. Hows Fuel?

monza 08-10-2009 03:44 PM

Nothing wrong with a nice black ass end...

FUeL is great just finished up a conversion to a full DSE front clip, mainly to get a bigger (wider) front wheels. But also added dual adjustable shocks front and rear. With all that, needed new front brakes to fit the new front and that of course rolled into new wheels ...HRE's again all around. Few other tweaks in there as well. Like anything took a bit longer then expected. Really worked out good however as I sold all the 'old' stuff for a good price for both myself and the buyer.

camaro2nv 08-10-2009 04:00 PM

Makes me want to paint my car black.

BBC69Camaro 08-10-2009 07:40 PM

Wow looking great!

Makes me want to paint mine grey!

Sorry Todd, j/k!! Actually it's funny, I never liked black camaros until I saw one pro-toured! Now I love them!!

Vegas69 08-10-2009 08:57 PM

 Ya, black is not the easiest color to deal with. Mine has a little more black than the average Camaro.:_paranoid

the location of the photos looks like a GREAT place to loose the brake rod retaining clip!!!:_paranoid :_paranoid

car looks great with the new wheels. what you doing with the others :unibrow:

Vegas69 08-11-2009 08:06 AM

Ha ha....this was on the other end of town. Every time I look at photos with the old wheels, I'm not sold on the new ones..... So they'll just be garage ornaments until I decide to road trip the car or change the widths and stick some r888's on them. This car literally went from driving on an icy road with the pilot sports to hooking it in 1st gear at close to full throttle. I can't believe it. Are you bringing out a car for Sema this year?

You said it Wayne. Todd's car is killer.

Flash68 08-12-2009 01:55 AM

Todd, when you gonna slap some drag radials on there and run a 1/4 mile? :woot:

Man Todd I like the old wheels on that car.. But you have to go with what works...

Vegas69 08-12-2009 07:21 AM

They started out as race wheels, but once I got a taste of the traction it's hard to go back. I like them both for different reasons. I can always slap some r888's on the bozes if I change my mind. I think these things will hook really well at the drag strip. I can pretty much mat it on clean pavement now and it hooks good.

BBC71Nova 08-12-2009 07:50 AM

When you gonna get that thing to the strip anyways :unibrow:

Vegas69 08-12-2009 09:04 AM

When it's less than 105. LOL More than likely this fall.

89 RS 08-12-2009 08:52 PM

Looks great Todd! Man those wheels are just killer. Always look forward seeing what tweaks you do.

Rybar 08-13-2009 01:06 PM

Does look awesome Todd. I personally like the Boze wheels better myself.

tones2SS 08-13-2009 02:07 PM

I agree with Ryan. But, still looks killer with the Forgelines as well.

Vegas69 08-13-2009 02:12 PM

Thanks alot guys....:( One day I like one set and the next the other. It's a good thing I have two sets!

Matt@BOS 08-14-2009 10:06 PM

Hey, I never realized you had a chromed rear bumper and a painted front. I was thinking of that look myself, but couldn't think of any cars that I thought really pulled it off until I saw your car

Since it looks like my Camaro's bound for SEMA, I suppose a bonus to the trip will be seeing "Payback." maybe the Best of Show guys could be convinced to paint the front bumper...

and I know everyone's already said it, but you did a great job on that car, its beautiful.

Matt

Vegas69 08-14-2009 11:33 PM

Thank you sir....I can't believe your car is going to make it since I just looked at your thread. Car is looking great. Are you running the optima challenge?

Matt@BOS 08-17-2009 11:01 PM

Nah, we haven't really thought about the Optima challenge. As cool as it would be, I think there will definitely be cars out much more suited for event. Cars that have got some miles on them, and are sorted out. Not to mention the fact that any of the eligible drivers, might be in need some serious performance driving lessons before hand

I'd like to see your car out on the track come November though. I'm sure it could throw down with the best of them.

Vegas69 08-18-2009 06:10 AM

I'm with you, the driver would be my biggest handicap. I'm preparing for the event but I'll have to be sponsored. I guess they already have enough 1st gens. Imagine that. :unibrow: I'm getting on that track regardless. I really want to go to the driving school if my schedule allows it.

clay69camaro 08-20-2009 03:03 AM

Nice car

Vegas69 08-22-2009 10:49 PM

I was supposed to run another autocross tonight but it pissed all day up until about 2 pm. I looked at the forecast and they said 70 percent chance of rain about an hour before I had to leave. So I skipped the race since it was 45 minutes each way and I didn't want to destroy my clean car. Of course it didn't rain a drop. So I went out on a lonely desert road and just beat the piss out of my car.:D 0-60 0-100 130mph sprint 75-0 etc. Pretty sure I had more fun than the autocross would have been. That's the most fun I've had with my shorts on in a while.

I also added two loops to my vent hose and that seems to have fixed the discharge at close to full tank. I changed the squirters on the carb to the next smaller size and it's never run better. It's super crisp. Car is a flippin beast. It just plain rips.

Flash68 08-23-2009 02:29 AM

Awesome Todd. That sounds like my type of hot rodding. Just go find a nice road and hammertime. :D

You should get one of those RaceLogic Performance Boxes (P-Box) and time your 0-60, 0-100, 60-130, etc. I got one and will get some numbers on the Camaro when it's done. I got it for the Porsche since everyone in the modded Porsche world compares their 60-130 times. It allow an apples to apples comparison and takes traction issues out of the equation like with a 0-60. I wanna see how some nicely modded musclecars compare to the quicker times for comparison.

It really is a cool little device. I got a slightly used one for about $400.

Vegas69 08-23-2009 08:56 AM

I was thinking the same thing but didn't know what to buy. Traction is really good now. I just have to ease into the throttle when I drop the clutch in first and it's good to go. I only overspun the tires once launching. I'll put that cool device on the list.

tones2SS 08-23-2009 10:00 AM

Good to hear Todd. That car is a flipping beast. I love it.
Keep us posted bud!

Vegas69 09-21-2009 09:19 PM

I'm preparing for my first road course event this Saturday. I'll be running the 3.2 mile loop out at spring mountain ranch in Pahrump where the Optima challenge is held. I need to get my accumulator plumbed and working, at least one tow hook made, and a couple other miscelaneous things before Saturday to pass tech. I was hoping to have my oil cooler set up done before my first event. I've been in touch with Ron Davis but haven't pulled the trigger yet. I'll just have to run hard and pull off the track and watch my temps. Once the accumlator is working ,I'll have 10 quarts of oil in the system so that should help some until I figure out exactly what direction to go with the oil cooler.

I've decided I like the original look of the car better. It's just to damn black with the new wheels and I like the 19" wheel out back. I've been kicking around narrowing my rear bozes and widining the fronts and sticking r888 rubber on them as well. I just can't bring myself to bolt the bozes back on with those pilot sports. They just have no grip compared to the r888's.

awr68 09-21-2009 09:31 PM

Have a great time Todd! I made it out to Spring Mountain last year....VERY nice place!!

Lenie 09-21-2009 11:04 PM

I myself am really partial to the 19's although they both look good. Good luck with the road course.

Flash68 09-22-2009 02:53 AM

3.2 mile road course sounds like a blast! I prefer the Bozes on your car too. Altho the tread pattern of the R888 is visually stimulating. :)

1in1969 09-22-2009 08:26 AM

How about painting/powder coating the centers on your Forgelines? Silver or light Charcoal? Just a thought. Car looks great BTW! Shawn

Rybar 09-22-2009 10:39 AM

Todd, that sounds like a ton of fun. So what is all needed to pass tech inspection on a road course like Spring Mountain?

Payton King 09-22-2009 10:42 AM

I like the orginal rims as well

They really pop against the black...in pictures anyway.

I know there is a better selection on rubber in the 18 sizes, but I like the look of an 18 front, 19 rear on a 69. One of the reasons I have not changed mine out yet.

I would like to see your race wheels in a full polish.

Vegas69 09-22-2009 10:55 AM

They were really intended to be "Race" wheels until I got the taste of some real traction. I'll throw the Boze's back on after the race this weekend.

To pass tech for this sanctioning body in particular:
  • Snell 2000 an up helmet
    Fire suit 3.2 A/1
    Neck collar 3.2 A/1
Extinguisher bolted to the car within reach and over 2lbs (Specified Chemicals)
Roll bar minimum of 1.75" for my weight(Roll bar not required but must be porper size
    Tow hook front or back

Since they mandate a maximum tire width of 285 in the street class, I had to go to the modified class. That brought a few extra rules into play. Here are the rest of the rules. http://www.redlinetimeattack.com/Upl...ttackRules.pdf

waynieZ 09-22-2009 01:14 PM

Good Luck Todd sounds like your living the good life now . All your hard work is paying off. I like the Boze wheels too.

I agree. The Boze really did "pop" against the black.
