I will try and bring this post back on topic.

We were brought this big Lincoln from LA. It laid out at the height shown in the first 2 pics with some garbage rear suspension in it. It was a 2 link that had tubing welding both links together. That should work plus when it laid out the rocker was still 6" off the ground.

After building a proper 4 link with proper air bag mounts and a cool invention called a panhard bar. It now lays out at the height of the bottom picture. And should drive way better then before.

http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/t...ps399c22e5.jpg

Lower and better driveability. Yes I will take some.

If it's gonna be a 4-door, it's got to be a suicide door Lincoln. I love those cars. It would be the only 4-door I would drive. Very cool Roger!!

I don't randomly choose just anyone to "partake" in the Weld lifestyle. When I say we're leaving at 4:30AM it doesn't mean 4:31... Pierre is at the lobby of the hotel at 4:15. When you ask - what do you want to eat... ANYTHING is a good answer.... because you don't just wheel these rigs into town and if you want to make some time - you may be eating while moving. He's a new convert to In N Out... But they're too messy to eat in cab so we take a few minutes and gulp 'em down in store. He's learned to pee when we're stopped for fuel or food.... not ask for a separate stop when we just left a perfectly good spot. "Never pass up a perfectly good chance to pee" is an old guys best learned lesson. T-shirts and blue jeans are considered being dressed up. You WILL get dirty during the day. A Weld road trip can begin on a moments notice - and "when will we be there or where are we going, and when will we be home" are not topics of discussion. We'll get there when we get there and we may decide to alter course or alter plans! Something may come up of interest that we didn't anticipate... Who knows! Does being "home" Tuesday at 2 really matter? NO!

On this trip - we:

Delivered a car
NHRA Museum
GNRS
Bobby Walden's shop
So Cal Speed shop
Barry Whites Speed Shop
Art Chrisman's shop
John Forces "store" = the museum and shop weren't open
A McLaren store in Newport Beach
Ironworks Speed and Kustom
Bought a car
Roy Brizios Street Rods
Dan's Custom Upholstery to see my Brother in Laws Camaro upholstery

Anyone see anything wrong with that week??

I wonder what it costs to join the 'inner circle'?...is there a special hand shake? Who buys lunch, which time?
Do you have to bring your own music or is it a music by driver only trip.
I get the jeans thing but what about shorts?

I allow passengers to pick up breakfast and lunch sometimes... Dinners are on me. Music is by mutual consent.... Pierre and I both like 60's rock and roll -- and modern country -- so we had music going non-stop. Shorts are fine -- actually anything is fine as long as it's not button down -- or yuppie -- and can be used as a rag if needed.:bitchslap:

Here is a sneak peak of the start of our valve cover product line. After searching the universe looking for a quality well thought out valve cover I decided to just go about giving a cover some design flare that was made the best it could be. I'm working on getting the proper length 12 point ARP fasteners and getting the final pricing for these caps that will be available in 4 different styles. I'm looking at a retail price of 850.00 for the set.

Here is the start of another Truck chassis we are working on. This one should be pretty simple but look really good with all that tubing. I might put this design in to production for our truck frames. Exploring some ideas.

Yeah I get that part. Really where I was going was...is it required? Is there a flex problem there and Rodger is innovating? Was it on earlier versions? Do other IRS full frame manufacturers install this (I really havent' looked that close and don't know).

I know you're a smart dude, as is Rodger. I'm just looking to learn something here.

The Corvette has an aluminum cradle to "connect" the frame together. Other manufactures use weld-in cradles and/or bars. I guess it depends on future access to the transmission and transaxle.

ironworks 04-09-2013 04:12 PM

All right I'm pretty excited about these little guys. I have been saying for years that there are no cool interior switches out there. None. Sure you can go to the dealership and buy some mega million dollar switch from some car and pay through the nose for it. But you can never get any switches that match. Ironworks has solved that problem for you. We not only have interior switches that can be made to match exactly no matter what you want to use it for. If you want your power window switch to match your headlight switch no problem, if you want an on off momentary switch no problem.

No more using a pull switch from a 70's pick up truck and power window switches from God knows what. That is not even the same color let alone matches.

This is our first model based on the popular design of the Ford GT switch that everyone loves to use. The switch tops are machined from a single piece of aluminum that can me polished, anodized, chromed, painted, powder coated, or whatever you wish. The switch is internally illuminated.

The internals came from a switch company that is American made and had a huge selection of available switch lines. These guys make the switches for the OEM's of all kinds of other manufacturers.

I'm making this announcement now to begin making awareness of these parts so we can take initial orders in the next few weeks to be filled with our initial order of 1000 switches. We will have a pre-order list for the first 1000 as we get everything together for every ones individual application.

I will probably do some basic colors, but I honestly feel I should leave that to the end user as there are so any things people would do to match their interior. I have a few projects in the shop that will get the switches and they are all separate color ideas for the switches.

How does the aluminum attach to the rocker switch? Set screw?

It snaps on. No set screws. No plastic inserts. Its really tricky. I had to go through several machinist to get that part of the equation figured out.

We should be ready to ship within 30 -45 days. We will start a pre sale on our website in the next week or so to get people in line for the switches as we are able to ship them out. I'm trying to decide what ratio for the differents witch bases to order. I think most will use them for power window switches.

Ron in SoCal 04-10-2013 07:34 AM

Rodger I'm pretty sure Ford sells their GT switches as momentary, positive on/off, and up(hi)/center(off)/down(low) which could either be used for hi/low beam or headlight and/or running lights. Hope that makes sense.

The Ford Gt switches are not used for a power window application. So they have no momentary switch design. They are used for everything else. Plus retail on most of the GT switches are well over 100 bucks each and then they take some expensive pigtails to get them hooked up properly.

Here are the switches in the Ford GT. The switch by the hand in the picture says FOG.

http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/t...e_Switches.jpg

The switch on the far left says lights.
http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/t...ect/images.jpg.

The other big advantage with these switches is the fact that the switch top is aluminum so we can paint coat or anodize the rocker how ever you like. The switch rock in the Ford GT switch is plastic and not removable.

These switches will be able to do all of the above and do the power windows and be much easier to install in our universal applications.

Thanks
