I thought you guys were messing around. There did not seem to be enough shadow under the body line to look like it had been widened. We have 3 cars here with widened front ends so I can spot a stock one pretty quickly.

Don't be too tough on yerself, Clem.

You still maintain a Raymond Massey-like physique. And yes, he was much, much...........and much taller than GW.

BBT FAB 08-30-2012 06:59 PM

We did not make the fenders wider like Ironworks does. I wanted to try something different to get the wheels under the car with full steering lock to lock and we accomplished that. Mario wants to drive this car once its finished and anyone that knows Chicago traffic knows there is always a chance someone will pull right out in front of you! So thats part of the reason we didnt "strech" the fenders. Although I must admit the fronts of the fenders have been highly modified from how they came out of the box......ahhh the love of aftermarket panels.

Thanks for all the compliments.

I'm not sure what to say except almost the whole side of the car is scratch built.

Below are the only 2 'untouched' bodies at Ironworks.

http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k1...0824020806.jpg

Obviously both need some heavy mods performed on them to look right...

Thats one of the reasons for sure! I do intend to drive this car I have enough garage queens! But after seeing Matts car get tagged a couple of years ago it really makes you think.

Rick D 09-19-2012 03:28 PM

Very nice but you can't just throw up some pictures and just leave it at that!! Why did you cut the frame up??

By the looks of it,The frame rails were modified To clear wider offset wheels or wider tires.

radrambler 09-19-2012 06:11 PM

I See

iF you guys look :_paranoid OR is it just me ?
the middle has been sliced :unibrow:
(metal finished )and look at the forward pic of the finished frame
and they gained a couple inches clearance for the wide front meats

Tom

coolwelder62 09-19-2012 06:43 PM

Very Smooth Work.  Look's like they took about 3" out of the width.

DOOM 09-19-2012 08:26 PM

Yep I wanted a bigger tire up front. This was all Troy he narrowed the sub 3 inches so I could get the 6-1/4 offset and 295/35/19 tire to fit perfect!! Jason (WAR) gave me all the info I needed to make this happen. We just desided to do it a little different than Jason.

DOOM 09-19-2012 08:33 PM

If anyone is going to Indy GOOD GUYS this weekend stop and say high Troy has the Camaro in his booth to show his mad skills and do some promo for his shop.

In order to fit the tires and back spacing on the wheels it's cheaper to put the frame on a diet then it would be to widen the fenders. If you widen the fenders and then someone hits it gently it would be a huge expense to repair. Being that the frame is tucked in there is last chance of damaging the sub-frame.

DOOM 09-20-2012 10:18 AM

Man thats nice Skip!! I have to talk to Troy about getting better lighting also.:D

You know the drill though Mario...rock stars are trained to pose for pics, not take 'em.

waynieZ 09-20-2012 03:14 PM

Thats a slick fix for more tire in the front. Nice!

tjbruning 09-20-2012 09:57 PM

Nice job. Did you need to change/modify the steering rack to compensate for bump steer?
