Greg, that has to be the part of the build I'm looking forward to the most. Lighting off the engine. Sweet, I'm soooooooooo jealous:thumbsup:

ol' small block "chebby". It's been dyno'd -- so I already had the spec sheet... so knew what it was going to be like. The mufflers they used were right on and it's got a nice hot rod sound. But because it's an EFI motor and not a particularly bad azz one - it's pretty smooth but has good cylinder pressure so sounds crisp. |

As I type this I'm watching the national news.... all I can say is WOW! What a disaster! We complain about the rain... I vow to never complain about the rain and grey again! |

Glad it went well, it is always fun to fire it up and see what happens, what leaks, and what needs adjusting.

And the bling continues.... as does progress towards a finished product in time to make the trek to Santa Barbara. Got some of the castings back from the chromer

Good looking parts Greg! :woot: |

I seriously wish I had like a curtain to pull back.... for the "reveal"
So back when we were messing with the idea of a "medallion" = which started out as ONE to go on the spreader bar between the headlights -- When they told me they can make more just as easy etc as one... So I had the bright idea that we should put one in the interior - and then it came to me that the console was first designed too contemporary etc and blah blah blah.... So I asked if we could "bury one" in the console -- and then maybe have it "stand off" so that we could backlight it. Here's the result. http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...d/DSC00755.jpg http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...d/DSC00754.jpg |
Wow your totally Geeking out on this. I understand where you get your wild Iracing paint schemes from now.
Lookin Good. |

He is a kid in a candy store when he walks in to SAR he just had to have all this. Hopefully Greg doesn't decide to light up the chassis. Then we'll know he has lost his mind. |

Having a '32 with a lighted chassis is going to be so bad azz! Nobody else will have that! It's going to be so RARE.... and you know what I say about "rare cars".... |
I like it

Was fun chatting with you this AM... Dude -- I looked at my watch and we were like a couple of friggin' girls! That was an hour + on the phone. My ears hurt... :D |
That looks slick. Oh and when you get the chassis lit you'll always have a parking space at cruise night. Way Way Way in the back!
|
I dig it! All of it!!

So this is a look at WHY I painted the intake manifold.... there's so much "aluminum" going on - heads - stacks - valve covers etc so I wanted to give the stacks a "background"....
And now we wanted to "date" the motor a bit -- so the old raised rib "Corvette style" valve covers... but they were TOO SHINY so we painted the ribs to bring it back a bit. After starting the POS up and turning the headers nasty while getting timing in and the stacks all evened out... I asked them to re-polish them. EEEEEEEEHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAA http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...d/DSC00760.jpg http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...d/DSC00762.jpg |
Nice!!

haha you Gaylord Focker.
|
Greg... Looks great.... what was the decision (if any) not to either paint the heads red or polish them ? The "raw" aluminum JUMPS out at you behind all that bling. Love the 8 stack !
|
It looks great, that was a good dicision to paint it. It make what you left unpainted really stand out. Very Nice.

Really though -- it was because I decided to take advantage of a sale Smeding Performance was having on their "injected" 383... since they were overstocked. So I just jumped on it. You're right - the heads should be polished. But we're trying to get the POS ready to go on a road trip to Santa Barbara and there's just other fish to fry. |
Lesson #1: The words "Cheap" & "Weld" shouldn't be used in the same sentence.
Lesson #2: Paint is cheap.... Lesson #3: Polished heads suck to maintain. Schools over for today  |
When you see this car 6 weeks from now --- you'll realize that WELD don't do maintenance... (unless it has to do with the operation of the car) and that most of my hot rod buddies would prefer to beat me about the head and face because of it. They're all about polishing clothes and what wax is the best.... I'm all about going sideways - driving them as much as the weather will permit... and that bugs are a badge of honor. :wow: :willy: :D
My next car should be a rat rod.... it would suit me better.:woot: |
I forgot... you are older than I, so.... (Read between the lines)
_____________ paint the heads _____________ I agree with the maintance issues. "Shop Bitch" has 8 pieces of polished Alum. (4 coil overs & 4 small pieces in the interior) and they all bother me. |
I have followed this thread for a while
now just not posted in it.
Great freakin' car man! I am digging it. The samll touches just make it outstanding. Oh and the "boner" comment was priceless |
if only it had a ford! :unibrow:
Looks great anyways! love the 8 stack! my favorite motor mod by far! got a 1 off on order for my newest project! cant wait to see the finished project! |
Man, that is a killer looking ride Greg.
Love the intake stacks and that "WELD" logo is AWESOME when lit up! Enjoy. |
