Roger, the intake looks sweet. What will it be made of....billet, carbon fiber, sheet metal, etc??

214Chevy 05-20-2015 04:32 PM

Nevermind...I wasn't paying attention. Funny how my school teachers used to tell me that very same thing as I gazed out the window. LOL!!

Foam board. From KINKOS

IF -- this project was still mine... I'd ditch that big fat ass front bumper and do something really small and discreet... The way it is now it looks like it's got a big fat wad of chew in the lower lip.

DBasher 05-20-2015 07:19 PM

Enough about the front bumper! I already gave him a hard time about the bumper and he was saying it wasn't quite done....wait that was the 55.

Carry on
:action-smiley-027:

Im thinking the front bumper on these cars is harder to change then the front bumper on a 69 Camaro. Nothing is ever an improvement. You do realize a big fat ass car needs a big fat ass bumper.

Otherwise it will look like a girl with big butt and no boobs.

Sieg 05-20-2015 08:35 PM

Possibly thin the bumper 1"+, move it inward .5"+, make a lower valance with a minimal splitter that compliments the dominant body lines. :headscratch:

Never short on opinions, is he? You thought you were done when he sold it..:thankyou:

Did you look at Neil's IG? He narrowed it a couple inches today and moved it back about that. No need to tin it as it will look thinner when chromed and not make the car look any higher then it should be.

Eric and Kurt Urban did a great job. Wait till you see the dash and gauge Cluster in the car. It will really be something special.

Al Moreno 05-21-2015 07:13 AM

Sorry bud, I fixed my post as I misspell your name again. Just call me Tony from now on, LOL

Progress on the bubble top has been good. She is pretty much in 2nd prime awaiting to address some small issues to get it ready to coat the chassis and put it back together on the chassis. We want to final block the car on the chassis where it will sit till the end of days. These cars move around alot.
We are fitting the dash to the interior and getting the seating position dialed. We have a few more parts to build under the hood to finish the intake. But we are very close.

Thanks guys. We are trying some things on this project.

One of my all-time favorite cars...wicked job on the fabrication as well as the entire thought process going into this build...which leads to this question, how long did it take you to plan this build out and how many revisions to that original plan if any.I'm blown away...great work!

cheers

Man this might be the deepest question I have ever had on a message board.

The car is really the same concept that is was in the beginning. The road became more defined as the journey continued on. But if you go back to the original dash concept to the big chunk of billet sitting there it is still the same concept. I think if you around the custom car world you can look at a car and tell who built it. Their style stands out as much or more then then actual car styling from the manufacturer of car originally.

These are some original sketches we did of the dash concept
http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/t.../briandash.jpg
http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/t...p/seandash.jpg

To latest drawing of the dash to the final product.

Good ideas never go out of style but the way you pull them off will change as you learn new methods to do things. We are doing more and more in Solidworks as it allows us to think deeper and get more detail then you could afford to in making some parts by hand.

crestronwizard 01-20-2016 08:45 AM

WOW. That is stellar.

WSSix 01-20-2016 09:45 AM

I know it was a repeat but I loved seeing the 61 bubble build on Overhaulin last night. Made me think of this build and how cool these cars are when lowered and modified. Such great lines to work with.

Keep up the great work!

214Chevy 01-20-2016 09:50 AM

Thanks

Lee is 6ft tall, but the car doesnt have the final wheels and tires on it.

maybe I missed it but what color did you guys finally decide on. I have a 61 bubble and loved the original audi colors you were considering.

We have not said. I'm probably going another direction from what was planned if I get the balls to do it.

waynieZ 05-26-2016 07:01 PM

I love the dash! Heck the whole car...

ironworks 08-31-2016 07:36 AM

We have alot to update the world with on this 62 Bubbletop.

First off it will be unveiled in the Meguairs booth inside under the lights of of their hot rod alley booth.
http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/t...guiarslogo.jpg

We settled on painting the car a Ferrari color, Grigio Scuro. Its really bitchin color that has a lot of color change flop. The intake on the car is out for red wrinkle coating now. And the car is currently at Sid Chavers for interior.
