Dave I'd like to say you were missed at SEMA, I'm not going to but I'd like to. Xoxo

Basher...I to had a great time at SEMA and enjoyed kicking around the track with you. Lot of good people on the site for sure. No you didn't miss the color and yes we are still going silver. Jim found a silver he loves and well....it doesn't suck. I told him if he could figure out what it is that I'd entertain it. If not well then it's that Lamborghini silver. The car is 100% ready to spray and has been for nearly a month. Let's hope he finds it soon cause paint on the car by Christmas would be EPIC!!!

The woman in the picture is one that truly impresses me. She's funny, Loves Dogs, she's a competitive shooter, Hollywood stunt woman and mother. She also has a big heart and swears a lot.

Sounds like a keeper. :)

Man, this car has been in the paint jail longer than mine. Mine went in Jan 16. Supposed to finally get paint on the body monday... When mine went in, 90% of the metal repair was done.

Paint work is brutal. I think it will turn out great, but I don't understand why these guys move so slow.

Flash68 12-16-2016 10:43 AM

I think Curtis sold the car already for a $1000 profit.

Probably could've got $1750 if he waited until it was painted....:bigun2:

Here's to hoping you get a great Christmas update,

When did this happen? 4 months checking this thread to see how the silver turned out and he sold the car?

Not sold, just giving Curtis a hard time...:poke:

4 months is nothing, you should check out Daves build. It's a build guide on what not to do...or, how to launder money in the car world....maybe better to read it backwards...with whiskey. :action-smiley-027:

Reading it backwards takes the fun out of the story, you already know who dunnit!

Flash68 12-16-2016 04:05 PM

Curtis sold his other 'filler' project.... probably for the best. :)

Sorry it's slow going right now on Curtis car, but remember guys these cars, Curtis, Charlie, Brent....there being done.....after 5:00.....after dinner, after yard work, after house work, and of course like all of us have to ...after the ..honey do list is done....most of the work is done late nite...and I mean from 8 to 1 in the morning, with the alarm clock going off at 5:15 am...plus like I told Curtis..everybody wants paint now....those who don't do the work don't realize all the solvents put down while blocking and priming over and over....plus the solvent in the sealer and clear....this stuff needs time to dry..air out...unless you can afford a 20 grand heat lamp....it would be nice to do them faster, means gettin paid faster....but keep the owner updated and lots of progress pics...and GOOD WORK.....extra time is ok....as soon as we can find the Right color paint will flow...merry Christmas everybody.....jim

Paint Jail? Nah...When you consider one guy is doing all the work, the length of time he's had the car and the time he spent on the Mustang, not to mention LIFE....It's actually gone pretty quick.

The car has been ready for color since Nov 1 st. But of course we had to see that Mustang Goolsby brought to SEMA which sent us looking again! Hey Jim liked it to.

I don't expect Jim to do any work on the car till after the New Year. Hey man....it's the Holidays. It's family time.

Curtis, I'll be paying attention after its painted...I'm really starting to enjoy these Camaro "kit car" builds. :popcorn2:

Jim, I hope you know everyone is just playing around. Your reputation is very much intact and you have taken great care of some very discerning customers as far as I know. We just like to take jabs at each other... pretty much as often as we can. Sometimes even without merit. :poke:

Merry Christmas to you sir

I may be to blame here??
I may be having a small influence on Curtis, since everytime that he is over my place he surrounded by either stroker engines or recently a new GMPP LS7 assembly
I think once I showed him the cnc ported LS7 heads w/ titanium valves, he decided to sell his engine and go bigger!!!

Exactly. Glad someone gets it.

Learned a lot since we built the one I had. It's no slouch by any means. I just decided I wanted to build a stroked LS3. The rain is killing me on getting the car painted and at this point I don't expect it till April/May. Might as well do it now while I have the time on my hands.

That's like getting drinking advice from an alcoholic. (Dave)

Me being a former caroholic, I get it! Why not spend 5k more for 20 more hp. ha

5k! Thankfully I have Jeff and he knows what he's doing when it comes to building an LS. The Sand Rail he just finished is over the top and the motor is awesome. Thanks to him I am learning a ton (drinking from a fire hose) and saving a lot of $$.

Hopefully I will be able to start posting some engine build pictures soon.

That'd be like asking Todd for RE advice or to list your house for sale. Oh the horror!

I finally got to look back through the entire thread. I can't wait to see the paint you chose! What's the end game for the '51 Chevy? I've always loved that style and now you've got me thinking about another build...after the camaro of coarse, but I would want to be able to haul the camaro with it.

The Lamborghini Silver is the color. IF the weather ever improves in California Jim will paint the car. It's been ready since Nov! As much as I would LOVE to have it home, I appreciate that Jim insists on doing things right.

I was offered far more than I paid for the '51, so I sold it. I still want one (that and a 72 K5 Blazer) and at some point I'll look for another one.

Bob, you forgot the comma....:underchair:

I know you guys are used to painting cars outside in the driveway, couldn't you rent a big tent to get it out of the weather and lay some color on it? :headspin:
