Less tire smoke today than yesterday? :poke:
...or is that SMILES per gallon? :D

I’m pretty sure a better road car does not exist. The upgraded mechanics wrapped in a body that came “custom” from the factory...it’s perfect!

You’ve probably got the seats figured out, or will by the end of the trip. My suggestion is to keep them stock appearing with a bit more support, as subtle as the rest of the car.

Nice car, Charley

Riv is awesome, very understated just as the pics show. Killer ride.

BTW: I found your twin holding court on the other side of the building.

Jeff Hayes (never met him) has a set of 8 series BMW (E31) seats recovered to match the originals in his '64. Don't know how much you plan on putting people in the back seat but they are not sliding, only power forward and backward.
I'm putting 96-99 Acura CL seats in mine and I've seen references to Lexus SC430 seats and late model GTO seats in there as well.

clill 09-29-2018 07:03 PM

Those are nice....

SSLance 09-29-2018 09:28 PM

I had a set of 2005 GTO seats in my car for a few years and they are awesome as well. 8 way power and they flip forward with the flip of a lever to let Greg into the back seat if needed.

They are wide and were a TIGHT fit into my car but should have tons of room for them in the Riv.

Maybe when he paints the POS I’d ride in it.

Weld’s primered POS has as many rock chips as my car.

Gotta say -- the Rivi is bad to the bone..... and I love it. And the part I liked the best - was that I could see it way up the road running interference for me. LOL

She was still pulling but I figured if I passed him Liz would start yelling at him! LOL

Poor Rudy was struggling to hold the phone still to take the pic. OMG I'm stupid sometimes.

It was more stable than Old Yeller (the '40 is lower to the ground in the nose).... and these Roadster Shop chassis just work! I was a little concerned about whether or not the tailgate would stay on!! Rudy and I laughed so hard -- I said -- "success -- we didn't fall out and nothing fell off"

After putting close to 3000 miles and traveling to 11 states I am really impressed on how this car turned out. Still lots to do but Matt got it done enough for me to drive and have a great vacation. The car is smooth, fast, killer looking, got compliments all week and never let me down. On a long road trip like this it is much better than any of my Camaro's were. This heavy car just soaks up the bumps and keeps on truckin. The Roadster Shop chassis is really nice. You could be doing 120 with 1 finger on the wheel, bumps have no effect. Still lots of little stuff to do but I love this car. Trunk is big enough for plenty of stuff.

When you decide that rust is for rat rods..... Lowe's hardware has several examples from which you can pick.

Glad your car worked well for you too, Charlie!

clill 10-04-2018 05:56 AM

CTX.....I bought a pair of those BMW seats. Having the 3 point harness built into the seat is perfect.:thankyou:

waynieZ 10-04-2018 09:31 PM

Those seat are going to look great in your car, finishing touch for a luxury ride.

Riv is getting cleaned up from the tour. It will be at SEMA and then in Chicago at MCACN.

Going to be in the PPG Refinish booth for a before and after comparison??

clill 10-08-2018 08:09 AM

As a example of how 53 year old paint holds up versus SquareD grey.

Glad I could return the favor for you taking the time to get me the dimensions for the rocker molding mounts. Can't wait to see the results.

On the second or third day I had gas coming out of the 2 Much breather vent. Solved it temporarily by drilling a tiny hole in the gas cap. Permanent solution will be adding a vent tube to gas tank filler neck and connecting it to the 2 Much system.:bang:

Cool pic, wrenching on the Riv... Love it

JD

clill 10-12-2018 07:56 PM

I spent years wrenching for a living so it’s not my first rodeo. I’m just old and cranky now and want my stuff done better that I have the talent or patience to do.

Yep, I hear you loud and clear
...Also not having the time to do it either.
Now that I’m post 60, I don’t want to wait, I want everything now

Drove it almost 3000 miles and didn’t road rash the frame once. Matt said plenty of gravel is everywhere but no scrapes. Ha
