Nice Billboard!!

OLDFLM 12-13-2009 08:36 AM

As much as SEMA showcased the topside of the car I think BMR did a great job displaying the car this way at PRI to show off the bottom! The Easy Tilters allowed everyone to see the suspension and drivetrain components from an angle they don't normally get to see! Once again the FREEDOMBIRD was the talk of the show!

radrambler 12-13-2009 08:47 AM

Display

 Ty

those work for ya???
If i had a company that needed to display whats was under a car, this would be the way to do it!! A whole car display on its side..I would imagine BMR is happy with the traffic..

Tom

Fletcher's Customs

Thanks Tony! All the credit goes to Chad, Jerry and (newlywed) Josh at Fletcher's Customs!!!
They really outdid themselves on every aspect of the car!

70rs 12-27-2009 01:06 PM

Just checking in to see how things are going. Any updates on the 'bird?

fletcherscustoms 12-28-2009 07:11 AM

WE moved the car into storage for a week. WE purchased a lot of new machinery and equipment for the shop. And in order to get everything organized and setup we are moving everything out and doing a complete cleaning. Shop needs it!! I'll be moving her back in tomorrow and wrapping up the wiring inside over the next week...

GregWeld 12-28-2009 08:09 AM

Sounds good Chad!

You get that new automatic wiring machine that just came out in time for Xmas?

fletcherscustoms 12-28-2009 08:13 AM

You don't realize how much is left on this car. It looks great sitting but there is no internal wiring, no door glass, or door guts installed, etc, etc. You skip lots of little things to get it to SEMA, that intails tons of hours when you get back home. Cause you got to tear the car down and start over. Its a lot more that I thought !!

GregWeld 12-28-2009 08:23 AM

I realize it - I've built a few cars... and am doing a full body off.. frame change... LS2 motor - 6 speed - p/w - door locks - trick stereo - inner fender wells - A/C - trick dash car right now - for FREE for a friend.

It's why it takes about 2 YEARS to build a car like this... and the worst part of it is - I keep going to the shed expecting something to be done, and items crossed off the to do list... but I've made a gruesome discovery... they just don't seem to build themselves while I'm out messing with other stuff. Can't tell you what a let down that was...

fletcherscustoms 12-28-2009 08:27 AM

I know the feeling!! We're trying to get it done. December has just been a bad month. Josh got Married so I haven't had him in the shop all month, Jerry's real job has kept him out of the hsop for 6 weeks. And my day job is always nuts at years end. And my wife goes in for surgery tomorrow, so I'll be on kid duty for at least a week while she recovers

OLDFLM 12-28-2009 09:13 AM

Don't worry about the car my friend... it can wait... family comes first!!!

Cool, new tools. Sounds good Chad. Please post up some pics of the new toys and the car. Is the car getting power windows? I would love to see how those go together in a second gen. Can you post up pics when you get to them too?

70rs 01-06-2010 09:17 AM

fletcherscustoms 01-06-2010 09:48 AM

I've been out of commision the last couple of weeks. Doing daddy duty while the wife recovered from her surgery.

fletcherscustoms 01-13-2010 05:01 AM

In due time!! I had no idea how much crap I caused to myself doing the SEMA thrash!!! We have basically had to blow apart the entire car. Got a couple of pieces going in the booth this weekend for repairs from some trailer damage on the way home from SEMA. plus its been damn hard to work when its 20 degrees in the shop at night!! I live in the south cause its supposed to be warm

Sounds like progress! Cool! Are you doing a full repaint or just some touch up?

awr68 01-13-2010 07:22 PM

Trailer damage? What's this? I didn't hear anything about that! :faint:

I know of a couple other spots that needed tuned up....but, what happened in the trailer?

fletcherscustoms 01-14-2010 05:34 AM

If anyon ever questions how bad of a road I-40 is? I have a story. On the return trip from SEMA , we actaully snapped the shaft on a front coilover, which allowed the tire to contact the fender. Not that much damage, just a small crack in the paint and a little wave at the fender edge. Easy 3 hour fix. You really have to pay attention to know its there. Plus we got the burn through on the a-pillar and some touch up spots here and there.

GregWeld 01-14-2010 07:30 AM

Sounds to me like you've got an "issue" with the front suspension if you managed to snap a coilover shaft while TRAILERING... I've seen bad wrecks with A arms and all manor of carnage and haven't seen that kind of damage.

fletcherscustoms 01-14-2010 07:34 AM

We not a 100% sure what happened with the coilover. Everything in the suspension is correct. WE had the shock going back, but i was sitting in my shipping dept here at work last week, when the entire buidling caught on fire and burnt!! So lost it to the fire. WE thank we know what happened but not to sure.

70rs 01-14-2010 01:57 PM

uh, fire......??:_paranoid

Garage Dog 65 01-14-2010 02:04 PM

WRONG kinda burn out Chad !! Hope everyone was ok ? Sounds like you're having a rough month too !

Jim

fletcherscustoms 01-14-2010 02:08 PM

not at my shop!! at the boiler plant where I work during the day. Got down to 15 degrees so idiot decided he needed to put the 250,000 btu propane heater under his desk. Then he decides it'll be fine while I go to lunch. WE can all guess what happens next. Luckily its was only about $15,000 in damage. building is still intact, just got a lot of stuff in it and tons of money in product waiting to be shipped. One of which was a the coilover going back to Afco for failure anylaysis

awr68 01-14-2010 03:57 PM

Wow! It's like this car is cursed! :faint:
So......if all goes well from here on out, what date will it be finished? When's that taping with the beautiful Courtney? :unibrow:

Yeah, if it wasn't for shi**y luck, there wouldn't be much luck at all huh?

fletcherscustoms 01-15-2010 05:32 AM

Like?? Hell this car is cursed or haunted one!! I warned the boys at Prodigy bout it, and you can ask Andrew or Micheal. And they'll agree!!

70rs 01-22-2010 09:41 PM

How are the paint repairs and finishing of the car coming along these days?

70rs 01-25-2010 06:01 PM

Happy Monday guys! Any updates on the 'bird?

OLDFLM 01-25-2010 06:07 PM

Chad's out of town this week at a trade show for his boiler company... nothing to report this week. Filming with the PowerBlock is still set for March 3rd and we are working out the details for attending two more shows in March... one in Indy and one near Chicago... details to follow!

slamdimpala 01-25-2010 08:26 PM

Hope it comes to chicago i would love to see it. Please keep us updated as to when it might come up here.

OLDFLM 01-26-2010 04:54 PM

2 Shows in March

Okay... the details were just finalized so I can announce them now...

The FREEDOMBIRD will "fly" to the

Race and Performance Expo

Date : March 6-7

Location : St Charles , IL

http://www.raceperformanceexpo.com/Home.htm

This show is put on by Winner’s Circle (a large speed shop outside of Chicago). Vic Edelbrock and Rick Moroso will be there to give a speech. This show is open to the general public. This is the largest automotive performance expo in Chicago .

AND the

Hot Rod and Restoration Show

Date : March 11-13

Location : Indianapolis

http://www.hotrodshow.com/

This show is put on by SEMA. It is an industry-only show (similar to the SEMA show in Las Vegas ). This show is specifically targeted at the street rod market and the muscle car market.

So be sure to look for it and take lots of pictures as military obligations will prevent me from attending unfortunately...

V/R,
Ty
