Guess it will have to wait for winter now and take it down and have them painted 'cause you're right... they should have been. Just seems blasphemous to paint aluminum heads... but sometimes it's the right thing to do I guess. |
It looks sweet Greg when do you get it back?

Thanks Rich. I'm not in love with the exhaust tip... kind of reminds me of the mean chick with the thick black glasses that are pointed. So I might have to make a change there. |
Greg,
Just amazing! I love all the detail and finish on this project...Iam thinkin a Ridler ride here...Oh..  The chrome work and level of detail is just outstanding! Congrats on a fine ride! -Jim |

Jim -- Thanks! Glad you like it. No Riddler here... just a nice little hot rod to have some fun in the sun with. I don't do the trophy whore thing. In fact... my M.O. is to drive a car to a show. Park outside of it - go walk the show - blab with some buddies - and leave.... And I refuse to attend ANY indoor show around here. I can see all the same cars for free in the Fred Meyer parking lot any weekend all summer. I'm dragging this car up and down the coast a couple times this spring/summer mainly because I'm finally free of the "kid" ball and chain. Youngest is turning 21 in September and as a junior in college I no longer have to be around to keep them on the up and up. My darling wife doesn't do car shows of any kind... so we have a pact. I'm heading for Santa Barbara with my Sister/Brother in Law - and another couple - Gwen and Adrienne are headed to Hawaii..... and for Fathers Day... I'll be at the LA Roadsters Fathers Day show in Pomona.... Gwen will be in Spain. See how that all works out? :willy: :wow:  :woot: |
I would rather be in Spain....

i totally agree with ya on the exhaust tip... i felt the same way when i first saw pics of it on at sar . the tip itself is freaking awesome!!! and the shape even flows well with the rest of the car but it just sticks out so weird because it just "there" under that god of a rear end...but looking at it i dont see how you can change the exhaust or do anything to it with that rear end.
|
I love the rear shot and really though how cool the exhaust turned out dont change it awesome.
|
Looks killer out in the sunlight.
5 more days Greg. The anticipation must be killing you.:willy: |
Greg- what red is that? Searched the thread but couldn't find it. It has a nice amount of blue.

Dave - It's Ferrari Rosso Corsa Red. |
Picking this pig (it's taken a LOT of lipstick!) up tomorrow (Tuesday the 10th).... It's done and ready to go to Santa Barbara. So far the only known issue is the "StarDrive" is defective so they had to yank it and put in an old fashioned "key'd" ignition for this trip. But that's okay since you don't see the StarDrive button - or the key'd ignition. I plan to take my GoPro and try to get some video of the start up and the tune up drive if the weather permits...
Otherwise I'll post up some pics of the show when we get down there.... |
Take lots of pics when you pick it up and when you get it outside in the sun in Cali. Cause it may never look that clean again!!

They molded this one using a bed pan.... But it does have a certain resemblance now that you mention it! With a "lighted" tip too! |

I'm trailer truckin' --- not a big baller trucker like you... just me and a couple of others (3 of us hauling down)... and NO... I'm not coming thru Bako. Might on the way home. Going via Bako adds a couple hours and we'll want to get settled in at Santa Barbara after a two day drive. |

Have a safe trip Greg! The go-cart came out most excellent!!

Well -- I got the car -- drove it a bit and did do a video.... But I'm a bit GoPro "challenged" so I managed to stick the thing upside-down hanging in back so the exhaust would record and the half shafts could be seen flipping on it's maiden voyage. Unfortunately I didn't set the camera so that it would record right side up. Nobody wants to see a video upside-down!
Car runs fine - needs some driving to tune itself.... which I will do once in California. I also brought my "good camera" and attempted to take some shots of it - but the camera wouldn't snap a picture and kept giving me some lame azz error code. So nothing there either. Funny - once I got settled for the night - stupid camera worked just fine. Oh well... Here's a couple different looks -- but I'll take real pics at the show. http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...d/IMG_0875.jpg http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...d/IMG_0879.jpg http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...d/IMG_0878.jpg http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...d/IMG_0884.jpg http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...d/IMG_0874.jpg |
It looks great ! I really like the way the wheels look with the dark centers. That first drive must have felt good.
Hey Greg maybe with some of your retirement time you could take a camera course. lol Enjoy it! |
Grey, when you get home, I gotta come over and see it. You gotta be estatic!
|
That is outstanding Greg, just what I would want my 32 (someday someday)
to look like Tonny |

Now I have to figure out a way to 'edit' the GoPro video on my Mac... I'm clueless... but someone must know or I'll spend some time looking it up and then I'll post some video. |

Thanks Tonny! It looks WAY better in person I can tell ya.... It has a SAR "quality" look and feel. I'm very happy with the level of fit and finish these guys do... |
I realize you don't have much seat time yet, but how is the placement of the seat, steering wheel, shifter working out?
