I picked up my buddy Pierre at the airport today --- and tomorrow we're off to see the wizard...

Sieg 10-14-2012 10:38 PM

Need to fly a flag on that back deck......Don't Tread on Me. :D

GregWeld 10-18-2012 07:28 AM

So far we're not making much milage... LOL -- But we are having fun along the way!

We've been to IRONWORKS to see Rodger and crew!

http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...me/file-10.jpg

Ironworks GG Truck of the Year! With the owner, Frank, telling every detail (again) to my buddy Pierre... Man this truck is beautiful and just shows the quality of work that Ironworks is capable of.

http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...me/file-11.jpg

Then we went to Brizios to work on some details for the '33.... then to Tony Odo Performance to check on the Mustang motor... (I forgot to take pics!)... then to Charley's to compare "sizes". He lost!

http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...me/file-12.jpg

Then we finished the day off in RENO.... and danged if Pierre wasn't a little lucky! Me? Not so much....

mdprovee 10-18-2012 09:34 AM

Looks like you guys are having fun. Congrats to Pierre on his win. I never have any luck at slots!!

I really thought it would be much bigger in person. The pictures online make it look much bigger then real life.

I'm in Wendover, Utah.... going to hit the Air Museum - and Bonneville in the morning -- then up to Sun Valley to pick up Gwen's bike... and just found out it's the Sun Valley Jazz Festival is this weekend - so there will not be a chance in hell of finding a room... which means a drive onward to Boise most likely! UGH!

Guess that's what happens when there is ZERO planning for a "world tour"!

Sieg 10-18-2012 11:36 PM

Greg - How's the fuel consumption with no load?

Flash68 10-18-2012 11:38 PM

That thing looks gooood in white.

And I think it's big enough to make Rodger look small(er). :_paranoid

Streetking 10-19-2012 06:10 AM

Congrats Greg, those trucks are bad azz.. I have a couple of my buddy's that have them, they are a real pleasure to drive..

SW

GregWeld 10-19-2012 08:38 PM

Finally made Sun Valley this afternoon... got my wifes new bike put away in the garage... so for the most part the trip is nearing an end.

Went to the Wendover Air Base Museum this morning -- that is where the Enola Gay flew from and they did all the bomb drop testing etc for the nuke... DANG KOOL place desperately in need of donations to restore etc.

So before you get to Wendover - you have to get thru here....

http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...me/file-14.jpg

At Wendover -- if I had my trailer these would be mine! LOL

http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...me/file-15.jpg

http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...me/file-16.jpg

http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...me/file-17.jpg

The "end of the road" at Bonneville.... No I didn't have the guts to drive the rig out on the salt...

http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...me/file-22.jpg

10 MPG empty..... figure 7 loaded up. EEEEEEHHHHHHAAAAAAAAA:cheers: :woot:

GregWeld 10-19-2012 08:43 PM

I'm the short fat old guy.....

Cool pics.

GregWeld 10-19-2012 08:54 PM

SW....

this thing is as quiet as my S63... and drives just about as nice! I'm truly blown away. There's a couple things I'd do "better".... bigger fuel tanks (I'd hang 100 gal per side...because fueling at truck stops is a hassle and the fuel flow rate of the nozzles is HUGE so bigger tanks would take it better) and the window switches are CRAP! They'll all be replaced.

Sport Truck RV really does a nice job building these. It's twice the truck the SportChassis brand is. But, of course, they're also different costs too... so....

Sieg 10-19-2012 10:53 PM

Glad to hear it's meeting/exceeding expectations! Anybody make 100 gal tanks? Fuel mileage is impressive considering the package. A 1200+ mile range would be convenient at times, can't say the $800 bill would be. :wow:

It's not really the range as much as it is the size and volume of fuel the truck stop pumps pump. The larger tanks would just take the fuel far easier. As much coffee as I drink - I still have to stop every 5 miles.

I owned a 47' Grand Banks... with 600 gallon tanks... and twin turbo charged Cummins... so I'm used to the plastic melting fill-ups. :faint:

intocarss 10-20-2012 05:29 AM

That thing gets better MPG then my O'l 2002 2500HD 8.1. Great pics as always

Do you realize what it would be like to listen to Greg babble for days at a time ? I can only take him in small doses.

  Come on Charley it can't be that bad!!

Sieg 10-20-2012 07:26 AM

Could the tanks be vented to improve the situation? Pulling over to take a leak is a lot quicker than negotiating the truck stops, Gatoraid bottles work to though it's similar to your current fueling issue. :D

I got a good laugh out of this -- but I have to tell ya... I'm retired... I have absolutely nothing to do except exactly what I feel like... so trying to save some time by peeing in a bottle isn't really something I think I'll need to get in to. I actually like to stop - get out - walk around...

The good news so far is -- I've titled and licensed the truck! Wow -- a BUNCH of taxes! Federal tax exceeded 24K and state sales taxes of another 20K...

Then the girl at DOL says I must have a D.O.T. number... and hands me a pamphlet. Crap! Okay -- I come home and go to the website to attempt to register on line for the number. EVERYTHING is asking me about commercial carrier stuff. I give up - - Call the Washington State Patrol... I get the nicest most helpful officer in the entire UNIVERSE!

He tells me I don't need a CDL nor do I need any DOT numbers or anything else special... AS LONG AS I'M NON-Commercial and towing a "recreational vehicle" (lucky I have living quarters) and that I should paint "PRIVATE NOT FOR HIRE" on the doors or side of the tow vehicle. He says that alone will get me a free pass. DONE.

:woot:

Sieg 10-23-2012 12:48 PM

I can make some die-cut not for hire decals for you if you like.

I knew those stickers did more than deter riff raff looking to haul their loads.

You're right Charlie... somebody might volunteer to photoshop it for me.

Sweet, I think if you were to do something to the bumper have that piece powder coated? I was a snap on dealer and the front of the truck kind of takes a beating, Maybe put clear bra on it? and a couple of the naked lady trucker mudflaps on the back, ( cowboy bling) believe me I live in wyo and see it all, congratulations on the new toy,

What do you think about some signage like: "Ass, Grass, or Gas.... Nobody rides for free"

Would that make me "commercial".... I dunno...

Yeah -- there's about 2 football fields of flat area on the nose.... The good thing is that I won't put all that much milage on it. I'm thinking if I do 20,000 a year that might be a lot. Hard to tell yet - but it's only a 2,000 mile round trip to go down and bug the hell out of Charlie....

Guess it really depends if Gwen decides she wants to go trailer truckin'.... and I'm thinking probably not much. :unibrow:

Welcome, I also have black background magnetic film (sorry no white) if you could get away with magnetic signage.

I have some really special rainbow shaded vinyl too. :unibrow:

That said do you have renderings of the paint scheme to share yet?

Ass gas or grass theme..........
