you can't really make out the front tire profile on lui's car so here's a better picture with Lui's front wheel on my car there's not much tire....

Here's a pic Sandro posted a while back with the 19/20 combo:
http://groups.msn.com/camarofolder/s...oto&PhotoID=17 The wheels are for sale, contact Snadro if your interested. |
after PM'ing Sandro, I may go a different route. He told me there is some modification to the rear wheel well to get 20's to fit.....So I may just go 18's all the way around....
Will I run into any problems with the 18's? |

You can run the 20's it's just the with of the rim you have to play with. On my 69 I ran a 20x 8.5 in the rear and squeezed on a 285/30 20 tire and it workled fine with lots of room. But if you put that same tire on a 20x9.5" rim then your going to have some problems especially on a 68, when your running the car that low. Even if you decided to run a 275/40 18 in the rear its basically the same hieght and width as the 285/30 20. It all depends on how low you want your ride hieght and how wide of a rim your going to run. Wile the 20's might look cool to some people the 18's are definatly better preformance wise. |

I have a 67 Camaro (Pics - www.biigboii.com) that is currently on 15" Steel Rallys. I just got the car and want to put the 20" Rallys on it. I noted the sizes below and I am assuming it should be the same for my care since 67-68s are identical.
I have a few questions though... I am running drum brakes on all four corners. This will be changed to discs at a later date, but I would like to get the wheels on first. What brake setup is Lui running? Will the backspacing you listed affect me because I am running drums? I would assume I would have slightly more backspacing available because the drums are thicker than discs?? Is Lui running any special components UCAs, LCAs, Tie Rods, Etc... up front to make the 20s fit and allow the car to turn? Where did the rubbing occur on the rear? Fender lip? Wheel well? The 20s cost a pretty penny so I want to make sure I get the sizing correct before ordering. It seems like once you order the wheel you are stuck with it. Obviously I will double check backspacing to the best of my ability before ordering, but I am not an expert in this area so I am looking for some guidance. Please let me know if there is anything that you would recommend to me before ordering that Lui should have/would have done to make things fit better. :) Thanks! Quote:

I think Lui's 68 had stock upper/lower CA's. I don't think he did anything special to make them fit, just proper measure of backspace and possibly rolling the lips on the 1/4's in the rear. But he may not have done that. Sandro would know. Here are some photo's of the local rides with 20" ralleys.
