Looks like a great car. lots of things can cause the car to feel sluggish. Do the comp. test for sure and look for vacume leaks check the plugs wires ect..
timing can be a pain. I would take it to a factory base line and go from there. Maybe throw a few gal of racing gas in it if you can get any and see how it runs. Do one thing at a time and write down what you did. Drive it and see what happens. Don't change a bunch of things at once. You may want to go to a Pontac board and see what others have done to there cars. Good luck. Steve

Yeah, sounds good Steve. That's what I'll be doing this 3-day weekend. Speedster gave me similar tips a week or so ago which really helped. Timing was main culprit. The car just needs love, and some tweaking. it's been neglected ... Thanx. Believe me, will try all the stuff you mentioned.
Your '68 sounds nice! Got Pix?

Pete

I am still working on the last few things. I have suspention parts to install over the next 2 weeeks to lower it and some wiring to finish up. Then install the interior and give it a good cleaning. I just need some extra time.

Hey Steve - your car is looking great. Get the interior in and drive that thing... Do you by chance have any close up pictures of what you did around the hood scoop openings. That is the only part of the Super400 hood I am not too crazy about.

Steve ... your Firebird looks great! Any issues with the new hood? Was thinking of using same one ...

They spent a lot of time shaping the opening and smoothing out the transition into the hood scoop area that part turned out nice. In the end though I took it off and hung it on the wall. They could not get it to fit right. I think I will try putting it on again down the road or use it on a different project. I have too much money in it to just let it set.
Here is a picture of it with the repo 400 hood and the lower stance.

Do not use the super 400 hood if you are worried about fit. It's a race car hood and needs a huge amount of work to make it "show quality" I think myself and at least on other person I know put 20-30 hours into it to make it fit like a factory metal hood. In the long run I took mine off and put a repo hood back on.

Steve, the bird looks good, I wish I was that far along.
