I had to make the same choice and chose the LS7.
I swapped in a Katech Torquer cam and am using ATS's headers. Katech says that they dyno'd this combo and got 595hp, 575 tq. I haven't got the car on a chassis dyno yet but hope to soon. I will post the results when I do. BTW, its a blast to drive!! |
LS7.

Normally asperated LS7 with a UMI/MSD MEFI4, a simple cam change... and the right headers = 625+ hp |

yea.. i plan on seeing the track VERY often.. i went to the track last weekend in Talladega with a Porsche and G35 club and had a great time. its IMPERATIVE to see alot of track time.. at least after that experience. not saying its going to be a track car.. but itll see enough of it. |
Definitely a LS7 if budget permits. You can throw a cam in there down the line and then no built LS2 will be able to touch it. The LS2 does seem like a bargain though since it can be had for $6000 with transmission, PCM and harness. A LS7 setup is easily triple that price, but then it will be brand new.
