I got tired of making #'s with race tape at road events so I had sticker #'s made by a printing place with "less sticky" adhesive. When I was at Road Atlanta for a NASA weekend event there happened to be a cruise night at YEAR ONE down the street Sat. night so we decided to go check it out and took my car. The whole crowd turned and stared as I rolled in! then I realized it must be the #'s that were still on the car!
So now I run them as well the other stickers (windshield banners etc.) on the street for a short time after an event. Then when I want a more subdued look or more elegant look I take them all off. http://i240.photobucket.com/albums/f...IMG_0199-1.jpg |
do you want "not street legal" race cars too ?

Not my car but this car was in my class at my last autocross. Looks similar to NOT A TA's car

Here's a quick sketch I did of what I plan to do with my SS car just to get it on the road, and make it look "cool" in its own way without spending much money. It won't by any means be a real race-car, just something fun to build and play with for a while until I can build it "right" which will take significantly more money. The car looks like crap from the body line down, so I figure a quick bondo-job and white paint will hide all. It looks OK from there up, so I'll leave it blue on top. Wheel-wells on front are rusty, and the rear are butchered up already, so if I need to "flare" it a little, so be it... it will fit the vintage NASCAR look. For the drivetrain, I have a rectangle-port 12:1 427, M-21, and 4.10 12-bolt posi all sitting around waiting for something to use them in. The number is my birthday, and sponsor is made up. It's not something I'll drive often, but I think I could build it in a couple months if motivated, with minimal cash outlay. Most of all, I see it as a way to actually get to drive a car I've owned for 13 years and have yet to drive, and build something "different" than anything else around. |

I drive this somewhat regularly on the weekends to grab lunch, but it is really a racecar that is driven on the street. Tube chassis car with stock windshield, doors with glass, wipers, headlight are mounted to tubes, signals, backup lights, license plate lights, etc. All there to be legal including insurance.
Loud as hell tho' with sprint car headers dumping into 3.5" mufflers straight out the back. I drive with the slicks sometimes which pushes my luck, but I have street tires on Carrol Shelby minilites as well. almost forgot - 525HP SBC in that car. |
Open Track footage
Here's a clip from an open track day at Buttonwillow Raceway in Central California. Had a blast chasing down a couple of Pro-Touring.com friends with my '73 Camaro.

A buddy of mine liked the way my car looked stickered for the track so he asked me to put some #'s on his car similar to the way I usually put mine on. Since he wanted a sort of period correct look for his RA III TA so he got some stickers on ebay from companies that would look like sponsor stickers back in 70. I also had my guys make his name, wifes and kids. He drives it on the street often. Imagine the look on the other kids faces when he picks his kids up at grade school! Here's a few pics

Do you have some pictures from the side? Are you pipes, "True", side mount headers? I really like the year, one of my favorites. Thanks, Ty |

Tim: That's a great looking car. Are you going to run numbers on it eventually? That's flat out, "Bad Ass". Thanks, Ty |
