Got it! I was inaccurate about the cost. I spoke with Mr. Nelson yesterday about his twin turbo exhaust. He charges "...about $5500 for the LS1 turbo headers..." I think that it would have been cheaper for me to purchase a kit through Nelson then to piece it together. I already have the turbos though. I acquired two new Turbonetics 62-1 (standard bearing) for $1200. That price is what led me start this build-up. I should have done some more research about total cost involvement:willy: . Oh well...the show MUST go on!!! Any thoughts about using mild steel headers vs. stainless steel headers? Thanks fellas.:thumbsup:

Wow that would look killer in my 67! Great looking turbo setup!

Have you thought about using the 6.0 liter truck manifolds?? They fit pretty tight and are proven to hold up well.

Just wanted to throw you an option out there...

I built my turbo headers from mild steel, just 16 gauge stuff from Summit.

So far they are holding up I ran about 6-7 open track events on them last year plus street miles. THey show no sign of wear or cracking.

But for all the continual clamoring you hear tha turbo headers must be SS, I have talked to a few people that have had success with steel. But, having fabbed them up myself, I'm totally okay if htey only last 1-2 more years as I will rebuild them. (Since then I have picked up and learned TIG, so the next set will be SS just out of principle and to keep the heat out of hte engine bay, plus they look 100% better).

But for the cost of SS you really need to build a set of "template" headers first anyway, so you may as well start with steel anyway IMO.

Myself and John Parsons should have a set ready possibly by June depending on the cars schedule to be in town. We plan on doing SBC and LSx turbo manifolds at this point. Not to sure on the BBC stuff as it does not seem to be as popular. If there are any requests or suggestions as far as needs or wants, feel free to let us know.

Here are a few pics of the SBC manifolds we are working on. The LSx set will be next. The can be done in mild steel, but we prefer SS all the way through.

As a side not, the Nelson package at $7500 for the maifolds, turbos, wastegates and BOV;s is not bad at all. You get what you pay for for sure.

I would have to agree, it is a good deal for someone with that big budget to blow in just one phone call. I myself am a working-class hot-rodder with a "pay-as-you-go", limited budget. If I had all of the funds to purchase an entire kit like that, I would have done it. Unfortunately I have to build in pieces and stages until the engine and vehicle is complete.:thumbsup:

I am not sure why they will not work and will contact Scott & Jody and see. I am going to attach a couple pics of them in the car and hopefully they will work. It looks like the manifolds by themselves will run $2500-3000 in 304 stainless.
