Welcome back Adam, stick around this site. That is a killer idea to change a coupe to a fastback.

Welcome back Adam!! Those pics are nice...but can we see some with her working on the car...we miss those!! :unibrow:

Looks good so far.To turn a coupe to a fastback your looking 4 grand plus in parts to do it and a lot of small things are not remade yet so gotta find them used.So 3-5 grand for a good coupe plus 4 grand for the parts or buy a real fastback for 8-10k and fix some rust.Only downside is if you sell it you won't get a fastback value out of it since the vin shows its a coupe.

To start with, we will be able to build this Fastback conversion way cheaper than most people can imagine especially since I will be doing everything myself. We managed to pick up her 67 Coupe for only $700.00. Brought it home put a few electrical parts in like starter, distributor, plugs and wires. Instantly started and was drivable. We even drove it to the lake for a photo shoot for Popular Hot Rodding magazine. All the electrical in the entire car works perfect. Meaning heater, dome light, brake lights, turn signals. Everything works perfect. So thats another great start. After that we welded 2 rear quarter panels on, floor, and so far a pass fender. That was also very cheap. Now for the best part. We managed to pick up the fastback for the conversion for only $300.00. Incredible deal. We also got the top eleanor front clip for free. Along with picking up the fiberglass trunk lid and extensions for very cheap on e-bay. With all of that we only have a couple grand at most into this car. So for under what you said we would pay for a coupe we already have the entire fastback conversion, a running and fully drivable car, plus Eleanor parts. Also we will NOT be selling either one of these cars. |
You may have got all the sheet metal for 300 theres a lot of small interior parts for the back that are not remade yet.Im not sure if they make the rear glass or not.Good luck on the fiberglass i haven't seen a eleanor part that fit perfect yet.The reason i brought up selling it is most think you can just swap roofs and sell it for the fastback price it don't work that way.The last one i know of done here was a 66 the guy that did it said it was 3 grand after painting it and all the parts it took and his looked great.

Good to hear from you Adam. I was just wondering what you were up to the other day. The mustang is looking fantastic! Have you made any other changes to the Camaro?

I am not concerned at all about the interior parts that I need. I can find all of those on e-bay or if they are metal parts I will make them myself. As long as the car is drivable thats all I care about. I am not concerned about little detail parts. For the rear glass I can buy that local from just about any Mustang store and go pick it up to avoid shipping cost. As for the Eleanor parts I will have no problem making them fit. I mean I just cut a car in half to make another car, along with putting the entire interior from a 2002 trans am into my 69 camaro. How hard can it be making a little fiberglass part fit? There is nothing I cant do when it comes to body work. There is a huge difference between the price of a 66 Fastback compared to a 67 fastback Eleanor. So like I said if we ever decided to sell this we would have no problem making a profit. But we have no plans at all to ever sell either one of these cars. TonyL, No I havent really done anything else to my 69 Camaro since the Murcielago rear exhaust set up with the split bumpers and the frenched plate. That was 2 years ago and thats the last major update to the Camaro. Besides beating it up at road track events each year. I have another one of those events coming up saturday July 26th. Thanks again to everyone for the replies. |

Just a teaser pic of what we have so far. More pics coming monday.
I set up an appointment to get the front windshield installed into Heathers Mustang on Monday August the 11th. Thats next monday which is only a few days away. This means we have only this week to get the car all welded together so the windshield can be installed. I do my best work under pressure so I did this on purpose to help get us motivated again. New pics will be coming monday 8/11/08 and the car should look a LOT different. :unibrow: http://img112.imageshack.us/img112/4...backod1.th.jpg |
