I assume you were talking about this one.

I like it. Anyone have any idea on pricing? I am willing to give up a little power for some wow factor when you open the hood, so I don't need the on that makes the most HP. How about driveability? What ECU would you use?

Also, some say a MAF system is better than speed density. Opinions?

From my personal experience, unless you're going forced induction, many of the sheetmetal intakes turn a smooth & hard running LSX into more of a peaky, old scool SBC feel. I have had several guys run them, & go back to a FAST 90 or equivalent.

I remember someone tested sheetmetal "ultimate LS7 intake" in LS1tech and low and mid range power ( where all of us do the 99% of driving..) was less than factory stock. As 1955LSX said there is not more to gain than killer looks.

It's around $6k. Kurt is building a 69 Camaro right now with the Kinsler intake on an LS7. The car is almost identical to mine, (same cam, trans, rear, etc). It will be chassis dyno'd at the same shop that did mine, so it's going to be interesting to see what kind of numbers it makes.

There's a bunch of pics here:

Wilson also makes sheet metal intakes. If doing a comparison, you might want to check them out too.

Also, if you want one of the coolest intakes around, look at a Harrop. They're a company from Australia and their intake has 8 individual throttle bodies and is just SICK.........but be sitting down when you price them!

Harrop Hurricane............

Good Luck! It sounds like a Cool Project!

id like to hear about the drivability and idle of the IR manifolds aswell... and if somone could post a dyno clip with sound ;-)

Yeah , we did that on Fuel back in 05 .ACTUALLY CHEAP COMPAIRED TO SOME OF THE OTHER INTAKES OUT. Worked great and provide much more power than a standard LS style intake

Driveabiltiy on Fuel was great . The harrop made by larger camshaft very smooth . Pretty common on the IR set ups.

 That car is SICK! You did a Beautiful job on that! Could I Please ask what something like that sells for?

From the sound of it, if you can get the tune of the separate throttle bodies right, it has Wicked throttle response!

My guess would be that quite a bit of drivability is in the tune. That's regardless of intake, but some intakes might make it easier to tune, that's just my guess.

Here's one that I found on youtube of a 454 LSX motor running a Beck sheet metal intake! This thing sounds Absolutely WICKED!

LME 454 LSx MONSTER..........
