I hear you man. It's easy for me to say with mine 15 feet away from me right now. I know what it's like to be in your shoes. Waiting and waiting. Economically I couldn't agree more. I am just so damn picky!!!

Not me, I'm WAY to picky over what I want. To me this isnt an investment, it's a hobby.

There is a middle ground and that's to find something close and go from there and change stuff.

I agree with finding something close and making changes to personalize it.
However, I would suggest finding one with a well documented build. I've heard a lot of stories about cars that looked real nice only to end up being sculpted out of bondo. Good luck!

Yeah I really should have said it's a no brainer for me. That's what I meant. If someone has the time, money, and (most importantly for me) the patience to deal with a long term build, then go for it. Especially with some of the talented builders on this forum.

And no, you don't build these cars for investment purposes.

Finding that middle ground and buying someone else's completed or near-completed project can be a great way to go.

I am just bitter my car has taken so long and is still not done (can ya tell?) :D

I am new to the group and am hoping that there may be a member that is considering selling their car. Please provide me some feedback if my wish list-vs.-budget is out of line.

I am looking for a 69 coupe, no convertibles considered, however any Gen I year is a possibility.

I would like all modern suspension and drive train (4 wheel disc, coil overs or bags, 4link, pumped engine, rack and pinion steering, modern gages and dash). A modern 5/6sp is preferred but a stout auto would be considered (no column shift). Must run well on pump gas.

I do not want any of the intake to protrude from the hood, and prefer as low rise a hood as possible.

I would prefer there to be some sort of rear seat, but this is not a must.

I would like a nice stereo, but have no need for any TV's or DVD's.

Upgraded seats are desirable, roll bars are OK (not required), but I would like to easily be able to get in the car.

Body and paint need to be in very good condition and absolutly rust free.

Now the crazy part...my budget must stay under $100K.

Can all of this coexist?

I sent you an email with a link since Curtis out of town....

That is the plan! I think he has been making good progress (finally) these past few weeks, but I need to go confirm that next week.

Good times! :willy:

I feel your pain. These long builds are tuff.

Vegas69 09-04-2008 12:20 AM

After being part of a major build from scratch I have to say that good things come to those who wait. These cars are about 3 times as much work as most would ever imagine. I should say to do them right. It needs to look great and be reliable. Parts are so unpredictable. Custom costs alot of money and doesn't bolt on guys. My three cents for the night.:D
